Mad Men 1st Season DVDs

Has anyone seen these? I've heard that the commentary explains a lot about the motivations of the characters and Matt Weiner, but I haven't had a chance to find out if this was true.

Hi Nokomis. I haven't viewed the Mad Men (1st season) series on DVD, but I've been contemplating buying the set. I found it pretty cheap on Tower.com. I think I'm also going to see if I can rent it this weekend. I'll let you know if you're missing out on anything.

I have the DVDs and really enjoy them. Like with any TV show on disc, it's nice to be able to watch any episode that you want, when you want. The cool thing about this set is that there is at least one set of commentaries per episode (other shows I have on DVD may have only one or two episodes in an entire season that have commentaries). If you want to know more about the story, the taping of the show, or insights in to the characters, you'll learn a lot from the DVDs. There's also a few other "extras" - short documentaries about the show. If you're a collector of such things, buy it, otherwise, you might be able to rent it or check it out from a local library for free.

I just got Season One on DVD, I'm looking forward to the commentary to see how far off base I have been.
Did anyone get the set in the Zippo box? I missed that one.
