Laying Down On The Job

There were three different scenes where a character was caught napping on the couch. Joan was laying down in Roger's office, Pete was on his couch when Peggy stormed in and Don was doing the same when Mona barged in.

Thought is was funny when Hildy asked Pete if it was true that he ratted out Freddy.

I have often wondered how, with the sheer volume of ETOH our MM drink on a daily basis, they manage to remain conscious throughout the day so I was gratified to see them sleeping at intervals throughout the day. After all, they must regroup their wits in order to begin the second phase of their booze laden afternoon leading up to the cocktail hour! I too thought Hildy was a riot with her incredulous retort about Pete 'telling on Mr. Rumson"! Pete's wormy, "DO YOU MIND?" was beautifully delivered as he reasserts his dominance in the snake of the day club.

You forgot Freddie on his couch after his little incident.

Last but not least let's not forget SAB Betty on her couch.
She has such a hard job with Carla left to do the dirty work.

LOVED the scene where Betty was defrosting her refrigerator and then cutting the lining for her kitchen drawers. The writers on this show are absolutely superb! SO realistic. And they even dress the women in the "Nike Missile" bras ... way up firm and high ... and pointy ...

And as a secretary from this same era ...RIGHT ON THE FREAKIN' MONEY!!!

I love the endearing way everyone pronounces the word sec-re-tary -- the always say sec-e-tary.

And Betty's and Don's house! I lived in a house just like that in the 1960s and 70s. Paneled walls. I defrosted like that, cleaned the oven with Easy Off, had avocado appliances, and my kids stood on chairs to stir things.

Yeah but when I defrosted the frig I put the towel in the bottom of the refrigerator not on the floor. Get a butter knife out to speed up the process too and have a bowl to take the ice chunks to the sink.

How bout the blood drive they were all laying down too. That pretty much covers everybody, heh.

Totally an on-the-couch episode! Plus Sarabeth's reference to her doctor's (presumably shrink's) diagnosis - she's on-the-couch too!

And YES - I loved it when Hildy blurted out "You told on Freddie?!" It's little things like this that make this show stand miles apart from all others.

Good catch Sharon about Sarabeth.

Even Jimmie Barrett was laying down (on the floor) in this episode heh
