......60schild....you are like a little ray of sunshine bouncing around the forum.....

user-pic

Well, I am all a-tingle and I swear I am not using Peg's Relaxaciser! I am going to be firmly planted in front of the TV tonight and for one solid hour I am going to be back in the early 60s - no financial crisis, no hurricanes, no war (well, not the war as we know it now) - where the only things on anyones mind were booze, sex and cigarettes. Ah, the good old days!

user-pic

Hi Dry Manhattan! That is the nicest thing anyone on The Forum has said to me! Many thanks, and right back at ya!

Of course, I do bounce well do to extra poundage! LOL!

user-pic

Hi zerelda! Hey, if you have a Relaxaciser, please share....where can I get one?!

I'm with you on escaping the current world! Were we less aware back then, or were times any better?
Can't wait for tonight!!

user-pic

The Relaxaciser -- I wonder what ever happened to that item? hehe

user-pic

On a serious note, you are all incredible & wonderful!

user-pic

Hi redhead64! How right you are!!! And please include yourself in that compliment!

user-pic

Hi MadMenSuze! My guess is the relaxacizer (how the hell do you spell it?), is only to be found in Adult Antique Stores!! If there are such things!

user-pic

Yaay!
Phew! I survived! Really can't wait!... I won't be coming to Happy Hour (the 3 hours between the east and west coast broadcasts), but I be back after the west coast broadcast!...

I agree, redhead64...this is a great group of people...we're pretty lucky actually, I've never been on a forum like this one...it's become my favorite hang-out...

user-pic

Hi greytone! That makes me feel so good that I chose this as my first experience on a forum!
I'm with you, here it is Sunday, and I wouldn't want to be hanging out with anyone else but my MM buds! This is the greatest group of people I have never met in person that I've ever known!
Did that make sense? OMG! Is it 10pm yet!?

user-pic

Hey All Fellow Maddicts.......it's finally Sunday. We've survived 2 weeks without a fresh dose of MM. I am chompin at the bit because I "cheated" and read the spoilers for tonights episode and it is going to Rock!
We watched 2 SEC games last night, the Bulldogs go their arses beat, and I was daydreaming about the MM episode the entire time. Is that a loyal fan of MM or what?Only 7 hours to go now.........

user-pic

......hey 60schild and everyone (CRS)..... how horrid was that gadget?

i mean, it's like S&M for the S&M crowd!!

must have been invented .... BY A MAN!

user-pic

Hi Dry Manhattan! If it did what Peggy said it did, it couldn't have been invented by a man! Tee Hee!

user-pic

I am totally a Maddict! I think about the show A LOT and having to wait two weeks for a new episode was torture (although it was awesome to watch the show win an Emmy for Best Drama). I find myself talking about the show a lot and most people have never seen it. I usually spend a lot of time telling people why the should watch it. I think every episode is a work of art! I have a few friends who watch the show and we just go on and on about it. I hope more is revealed about Peggy (I assume that's partially what the title is about).

All right--I have to admit it. I bought a Relax-a-cisor back in the 60s. It was quite expensive for those days--about $300--but I bought it "on time." Maybe I bought the economy model, because I don't remember the "panties" attachment, but there were pads attached to electrical wires that you put on your abs, thighs, whatever & it pulsated. It was advertised as a weight reduction device--exercise your muscles as you recline. No physical effort required. It didn't work--duh!

user-pic

Ah, but did it "relax" you!?! When I first heard of this gadget, I immediately wondered if it would have been advertised in the backs of movie magazines. Remember the junk that used to be in those?

Frederick's of Hollywood and their panties with the padded bottoms - just what you needed for a posterior like Joan's. One of my favorite episodes of "LaVerne and Shirley" had Shirley ordering and then wearing a pair of those underpants with enhanced buttocks! It was hilarious - she was too shy to wear them in public, so she wore them under her pajamas to bed!

Oh, well, phoooey, phooooy, and shoot. Sorry for posting twice.

You guys are right - this IS a great group of people and a fun forum! It's getting to where Sunday nights are my most anticipated time of the week, to get the Mad Men 'fix.' Finally, an intelligent, sophisticated show for grown ups!

user-pic

What I enjoy about this forum, in general (trolls and the like shall not be spoken about!!), is the free flow of ideas and opinions! The entire forum knows of my intense dislike of the characters of "Betty" and "Pete" (or "SAB" and "Silver Foot," for those with a raunchy sense of humor! Hee!) but never has anyone suggested that I *had* to admire either of these 2 characters! For that respect of freedom of thought, this forum is a stand out!

user-pic

Whew! It's almost showtime. It's been a long 2 weeks, though the forum (and hanging out with fine folks who post here) has helped. I bet the new episode will be worth the wait!

Visan - You just keep posting your opinions. I appreciate hearing your point of view, even if I disagree about Betty. You have a great (read: dirty) sense of humor, and you never make personal attacks on posters who don't share your view. I like your style. :)

user-pic

@Hanna: Thanks!

I can't believe how personal some posters take opinions about fake TV characters. Sometimes I wanna chant the mantra "It's just a TV show! It's just a TV show!"

user-pic

I don't remember a Relaxaciser being advertised but I guess there really was such a thing back in the day
although being in Canada we don't always get the same advertisements

during the sports events ig we don't get the big famous ads

You guys, remember right at the closing of that eppie with The Relaxaciser, and Peggy took a look at it and then put it on?

"Fly Me to the Moon" was the closing song.

HEEElarious! ;O)

I can't WAITwaitwait to see handsome Dog Don Drapah, in all his five o'clock shadow gloreh!

Halluyah, Don Drapuh!!

default userpic

Oops, I meant "hallelujah: !

I hope Betty bolts the door and never lets his sorry butt back in the house. Hummmph! (indignant housewife "hummmph!" too).

;O)

default userpic

I betcha Don's gonna go visit Rachel...no, wait, she got married and is back in America.

Hmmmm.....he can't visit his brother. Can't visit his mom. Most likely wouldn't go visit his abusive dad.'

Heck, I don't know where he'd go.

??? Any speculations?

Peg4: He's going to take that nostalgia trip - from season 1 "The Wheel"
Maybe he will even take another look at that slide show he put together for the Kodak presentation.
He will finally figure out that "Home" is where he wants to go again. But going back will have a price that he may find very hard to pay.

Betty will take him back, but not without some expectations. It has been pretty much played by Don's rules up until now, but those rules will no longer work for Betty. Her family is in peril and it is up to her to grow up and do what must be done. Don is going to see a Betty that he could not imagine possible.
She is finally free of the fairy tale bill of goods that society sold us. She will find out how strong she can be and must be.

It won't be easy and it won't be fast, but that is what I think will be.

Visan: I love the way you hate her.

user-pic

.....you mean that thing was REAL? honestly, i thought they made it up! thanks for the great stories.

user-pic

I can only be jealous that the east coast gets to see Mad Men 3 hours earlier.
I am also chomping at the bit.

I bet that Relaxisizer was sold "in the back" of those magazines. Or maybe in the "True Confession". Gosh, that mag was so steamy on the cover. The tag lines on the cover were much more that what the story turned out to be. Even at 13 I was disappointed.
But honest, I never saw the Relaxisizer in the back.

Waiting for Don the Wand, and Pete "W".

user-pic

.....oh, I love Visan's posts, largely because they are often too true, and cause staccato bursts of laughter to erupt from my office. It's okay to feel and strongly, but the whole "very serious" thing is occasionally overdone. I am a humor-junkie. Gotta have my yuks.

Plus, as much as she likes smacking Preggy and Silver Foot around, Visan has never been mean to me. That's big points in my book.

Visan's and everyones' opinions are just another side of the same coin. We are all basically, at some point, saying the same things anyway, whether or not we're on the same page at that moment.

Pretty sure that was the intention.

user-pic

.....sorry, not Preggy - Self-absorbed Betty.
