Freddie and Pete's Father - Two of a Kind?

I cannot remember if there has been any mention previously about Pete's father having a drinking problem. I know he died in the plane crash and was actually living off his wife's trust fund, but was he an alcoholic? Pete's disgust with Freddie and the whole urinating and passing out business seemed way out of proportion. Sure, it was shocking, but Pete seemed to take it personally. Peggy just wanted to cover up her friend's problem, and Sal very clearly thought it hilarious and would make a great story. Why did Pete react so strongly?

I believe Pete's father was more a creature of Excessive Living (using his wife's wealth). Drinking & golf were part of that, but I don't think he was an alcoholic - or at least, I don't believe that was near the top of the list of why he & Pete didn't get along well.

Other posts for this episode indicated Pete's "those people" comments were directed at alcoholics ... I thought maybe there was a little elitism in that, too. The underclass (meaning, NOT upperclass), weak, etc. My sense is that Pete hates moral transgressions of any kind -- except of course his own. Thing is, the Rich can cover up theirs a whole lot easier!

So that said, I don't believe Freddy reminded Pete of his father .... BUT we'll see a bit more of this in the next episode, which has storyline w/Pete & his mother.
