some people hide in plain sight

I'm glad to see Betty standing her ground, despite the fact that she is very depressed. Oh, Betty, I've been there. Hang in there!

He's had a petit mal seizure.

See how unresposive he was and how he became incontinent? That's usually one of the give aways of a petit mal seizure.

user-pic

And sheesh...the staff left him there.

user-pic

oh yes - go for it Betty! Get that drawer! Pretend it's a squeaky chair!!!

user-pic

Pete's a weasal. Don - idiot - you insisted on no contract.

user-pic

Can't WAIT to see how ADT handles this one!!!

user-pic

Do we dine on the drama of other people's lives like teenage girls?

Oh, my God, I was waiting for them to get around to defrosting a 60's freezer! That was the worst job; it took forever to boil the water, put it in the freezer and wait for it to melt, and then you had to chip off all the remaining ice and then mop up the floor as it fell out over the bowls; what a mess. Wow, what an episode as usual! I am starting to write my comment during the show because otherwise I can't get a word in edgewise. I got my MM poster for having one of my quotes used, but it looks like AMC gave out my e-mail and now I am flooded with junk! What's with Betty and that lunch invitation? She looked disgusted after the offer? So the 6 month leave of absence for Freddy, can he come back or not? I don't think so. Holy crap, you guys were right about Jane! I can't believe Don told Roger he didn't feel bad but relieved. I can't wait until Pete Cambell gets socked by somebody; we knew Jimmy was going to get it. Peggy is a really decent person.

Wow, great episode and worth the wait. Loved the look on Don's face as he came in to work with Peggy and she mentioned how lucky they were Playtex hadn't gone with the Marilyn/Jackie campaign. Look of complete respect like he had not even remembered that himself.

So now we know what sly little Jane of Jane Street has been up to. Oh, Roger, you know it's Joan you love. I fear Mona is going to really sock it to you big time in the divorce.

I assume once Jane found out about Don's home situation, she blabbed to Roger and that is why he suddenly become so solicitous of Don. You could tell Don figured that out, too, and that is why Jane is now no longer his secretary. Gosh, wonder where Joan will assign her next.

Loved seeing Jimmy Barrett get punched!

I think it is about time for Betty to pull up her socks and be a mother to those kids and quite expecting Carla to raise them. If she doesn't want Don back, fine, but quit being such a sad sack about it.

Oh, and by the way, I would've had that drawer open in a NY minute.

Hi fellow Maddicts!
I posted what seems like a long time ago, a statement about Don's hiding in plain sight. Where could a person better do that than in NYC? That was my theory as to why Don eventally went to New York.

I also just posted my thoughts on Freddie's "accident" and behavior under another thread. But, here goes...
I believe Freddie is suffering from hepatic encephelopathy.
A condition that can occur with severe alcoholism. Symptoms of the disease can range from dementia, seizures, bascially anything the brain controls. And the brain controls everything.

zerelda:
Mona doesn't want to be divorced any more than Betty does. I suspect she's known about Roger's "little flings" for a long time. As Roger told Don, it wasn't like Mona hadn't kicked him out, so he knew the signs. But when Roger told her he's leaving her for his secretary, yeah, she got angry. She blames Don because of the remarks he made while "under the influence" that Roger repeated. She knows deep down that it's all Roger, not Don.

==================

What do you do when in a depression? Do something! Defrost the refrigerator! Reline the shelves! Set up your friend to have an affair!

Is Freddie the falling man in the opening sequence??? I hope to see Freddie again, but not at his funeral.

So we're already up to Marilyn Monroe's death, that would make it August, 1962. Next up: the Cuban Missile Crisis? Then: Kennedy assassination, the beginnings of the Vietnam war?

It must be a great temptation to try to ground the show and its characters in terms of historical reality, but for those of us who were around in those years (I was 8 years old in 1962), that would not add anything really interesting to the show.
