Duck's Dog

Am I the only one who was deeply disturbed that Duck ditched his beautiful Golden? How could he? Was it a childish way of getting back at his wife? When I watch the episode again I fast forward through that scene it is that painful to watch. OK I love dogs but who took their dog to work in the sixties? In Manhattan--presumably taken from the suburbs.

Hi drapergroupie! The beautiful Irish Setter named Chauncey has been a BIG topic of discussion on this Forum.
Many MM fans feel the way you do, and some don't.
Chauncey has not been on MM since his forced exit out of the SC office by Duck...I believe he is happy somewhere, and that's the fantasy I'm living in!!
Type in Chauncey on the Forum, and you'll get all the info. I'm sure.

I had to switch the channel during the marathon when that scene came on, 60's child. Yes, a great many of us were deeply disturbed by Duck's betrayal of Chauncey - I think we have all decided Chauncey was immediately found and taken in. Perhaps one of the Rockefellers were driving by in a limo, and Chauncey is now living in a penthouse on 5th Avenue. But I will never forgive that weak as water, phony-baloney Duck for what he did.

Hi zerelda! I like your fantasy!
A while ago, right after the episode with Chauncey aired, a fellow Maddict (please forgive me for not remembering who you are), said she imagined Chauncey going back to Ireland and happily chasing sheep for the rest of his life! That one is my all time favorite Chauncey fantasy!!

Yes, Duck is a creep for what he did!!

Hate The Duck!! (with thanks to Seinfeld and the famous Drake episode)!!!

one of the points of this tv show is this is before public awareness of many things ... no political correctness as it is now

1. women were treated like pork chops
2. everybody smoked pregnant women, doctors, nurses
3. no seatbelts
4. litter wasn't given a 2nd thought until about mid 60s
5. people just let their pets go
6. mothers didn't display affection on their kids but mostly this applied to boys (this was seen as "spoiling")
7. remember when betty's little girl ran up to her mother covered in a clear plastic drycleaning bag

when I think of some things I have done way back when I just shudder and wouldn't even consider doing it now
