review of 2.9 ... one of the best Don and Roger episodes so far...

Agree. I was getting a little tired of all the drinking and thought, Matthew Weiner move on. But, of course the last 2 minutes of the episode proved how crucial the boys' drinking scenes were. I really like the relationships among the men on this show, not just Don and Roger, but the "boys" in the office, too.

I was a little surprised to find how much influence Don has over Roger - I think Don was shocked, too.

Hi PaulLev!
Right up there with the oyster scene!! I still think Roger doesn't know what Don was up to in that scene.
Here I go again..."Mona, your wife's name is Mona!" Another classic Don/Roger scene!!

The guys' drinking together is called "bonding for guys." As Don said, in I think the first episode, drinking was how he came to SC. Also in drinking, "in vino veritas" and Roger was trying to get the detail of why Don and Betty separated but Don's not sharing.

I, along with most of the viewers, enjoyed his punching Jimmy. Back in the "old days" you wouldn't see Don wincing, shaking his hand in pain after the blow. Jimmy, over the years, probably got punched a lot of times for his remarks. The others standing around probably figured it was something Jimmy said to Don. I also noticed Roger, like a big brother, hustled down to stop the bouncer from pitching Don out of the house, saying they were just leaving.
