Time Zone Problem
Can something be done about our comments being posted out of sequence? It has been happening for several days now, it seems, and is very annoying. If you could fix this problem, pretty please, we would all be very grateful. Thank you.

Yes, please Clayton and also I can't initiate any new posts. I've tried the refresh route and clicking on Talk again but nothing has worked for the last week. Thanks.
I'm looking through the threads now and haven't yet found any time discrepencies. Can you be specific about where the error is occurring so I can notify our tech people?
Thanks
Clayton -- AMC
Daisy Squire,
What is the error specifically? According to our database you should have permissions to create talk posts, so to troubleshoot I need a better description. You can e-mail me directly: cmneuman@amctv.com
Well, I know the problem exists on Episode 8 - Open Thread - I think that is where I first noticed it - and also on Let's talk about the Emmys. There have been several instances when folks respond to a posted comment, and their comments go into the line before the comment they are commenting on, thereby causing mass confusion down the line of commenting commenters. (Sorry.) It is just a matter of comments not being posted consecutively, I guess. As I said, it is confusing and annoying, but if it can't be fixed, I can learn to live with it. I enjoy this site to much to abandon it because of a minor glitch. If this problem is all in my head, however, please tell me so I can get my meds adjusted or at least the amount of liquor in my glass.
Clayton: It also exists in the Emmy discussion thread. Particularly today, 9/22. For instance, at 1:17 p.m.,EDT, I responded to something that Laurie B. had written previously, but her comments posted as 2:18 p.m. My comments then showed up before her original posting. Does that make sense?
I also have the problem of starting new topics. Because I have a BMW ad on the right side of my screen. However, if I click back on MadMenMain, I can get to the window that asks me to start a new discussion. (Zerelda--try that.)
Whoops--I didn't mean Zerelda--I should have addressed that hint to Daisy. Sorry
……… Time Stamp – it seems that a few selected people’s posts are somehow being interpreted by the AMC server as two hours later than the EST we are all, east or west coast, uniformly going by…..
….which is why some of the replies, which ARE correctly labeled, are being posted above the original post.
It reminds me of when Clayton Neuman posts an Episode Open Thread. If you’ve ever looked, the “expiration” for each one is around the same time as the start of the next week’s Episode on Sunday nights….
No other threads posted can appear above it until after that expiration date and time.
Just wondering if the same mechanism that allows him to “time out” his posts is somehow the same thing causing some peoples’ posts to be mislabeled as two hours later than the actual post time.
....in other words, we are all supposed to synch to East Coast Time.
i checked with a few people, and their posts were LABELLED with a time exactly TWO HOURS later than the actual time they posted.
Laurie B. posted at 1:47 pm EST, but her POST said 3:47 pm EST.
See?
....and since it's only SOME people being mis-labelled, and the posts are labelled to publish in chronological order, a reply can appear several entries ABOVE the message it's following.
....i think my brain just exploded.
Thanks, Dry Manhattan, for your explanation. Now I know I don't have to adjust my meds....but I believe I will have that drink now....
Clayton....
Please have your site altered to number the posting entries automatically. This will enable us to mark the number down of the last post we reviewed before going to bed, and be able to find it quickly the next day to resume our review of remarks!
Thank you.
....no problem. think nothing of it....
your WISH..... is my command.
...that is, Sandy, until entries are erred, mis-posted, as well as deleted....
then it's just a pig-f**k.
Oooh, Dry Manhattan, got any good remedies for the morning after? My head is spinning - never should have drunk that last one......
I think that Dry Manhattan is correct that the confusion is being caused by time zone differences -- for which, unfortunately, there might not be a fix. I'll let my tech people know and get back to you all. Sorry for the problems, and thanks for your patience!
....a few things, though....
the problem just appeared very recently and is only affecting a very few people.
one said they were in atlanta, i think, and i can't remember the other person....east coast maybe.
both of their posts were labelled exactly two hours later than their time zone - that is to say, a time zone that is in the middle of the ocean.
what i'm saying is, i am on the west coast, so when i post at 8:00 am PST, it is labelled on the thread as 11:00 am EST, as it should be.
the people on the east coast post at 8:00 am EST, and that post's time label should say 8:00 am EST.
since it's only a few people, it's hard to tell if it's our computers or something in the AMC server.....
it would help if the people who had the problem would post about it here.... the more data the better.
Here is a recent comment by Ritt...

Interesting... My watch and computer say it's 11:48.
I'm in the Eastern Time Zone and my posts are timed at 10:26 and 10:46 (which I just finished). However there are two posts from mymymy at 12:29 and 12:32. Both posted after my first but before my second. The problem has not been fixed...
....here is another one - posted some time BEFORE 1:48 pm EST....

I think that we all love this show sooo much that we want to dissect every little thing that happens or doesn't....let's hope it was nothing....
...i'm sorry, sometimes it takes me a while to summarize my real point.
everyone on this forum's posts should display in Eastern Standard Time, regardless of their location and time zone.
there are a few whose posts are showing up and displaying some other wacky time zone.
Laurie B. said her computer and watch times were synched.... but her post displayed in some other wacky invalid time.
i wonder if deleting and then re-registering their screen names would eliminate the problem.
hope that helps.....
I think there's still a time stamp problem - posts being placed and timed before posts that were already on the thread. I don't know if it's just a west coast problem or not.
....when the post with the wacky time hits (so far, seems to be 2 hours later than actual time), it's going to STAY at the bottom of the thread until the time it is labelled with rolls around.
that means any replies with the CORRECT time are going to post above it.
that might make the replier think it's them when it's not.
Still working on it -- thanks for your patience.
.....no worries - thanks for doing that....
If the posts are all supposed to be in Eastern Standard Time, then my posts have been an hour off today. I posted something at 12:18 AM Pacific time and it was listed as 2:18 AM. At least the posts weren't out of order this time. :)
....sounds like they might have set the posts to actually post in the order received by the server? rather than by time?
just curious if it would have anything to do with the user's e-mail or time zone defaults....
