too much speculation

after reading some of the comments i have come to the conclusion that we should determine what we can and let matt and co. do their work!!!
betty is definetley becoming unnerved, and i think she is on to don--
but to say tha tht eblue eg means this or the date on the blackboard means that is abusrd!!!
how could you hope to determine all that this means

We all like to speculate...we're funny that way.

Agreed, jojo. I think the writers would read some of these comments and laugh. I'm loving talking about this show with people who are into it -- but some of the comments are way too out there.

Look again at Joan's necklace. It's actually a gold pen. They were popular necklaces back then. I think it's fitting as she is the "office manager"

thanks for the insight on the necklace
someone said that it was a drill bit

were they kidding or did they really think it was, a drill bit!!!???

Re: Joan's necklace .... looks like she had it last season too (in 1960). In the main photo for Episode 6: Babylon .... Joan's pictured during that Belle Jolie lipstick focus group, wearing that necklace. I've seen similar antique pendants (though who's to say whether or not it was "antique" back in 1960).

I agree JoJo, that some are putting way too much thought into what everything means. It goes too far. That said, I enjoy participating in some of the discussions. It can be enlightening and enjoyable. Damn, I love this show!

I think that thing around Joan's neck is a key to a file cabinet - the old style metal 4 or 5 drawer cabinets used to have locks that had a solid metal center and the key was put between the outer rim and the solid center, turned to lock it. Those type of locks were also found on some doors, etc.

Since she's the office manager, she would have a key to the file cabinet with all the really private stuff in it.

Remember when the guy with the beard, Paul (?), said to Joan about the copy machine, "Try wearing that around your neck?" So, I think that thing around her neck is definitely a key to a storeroom or a file cabinet.
