The Jerry Maguire Effect
I'm sure this is not in the cards, but just suppose that Don, being disillusioned about the Mohawk/AA strategy shambles, goes out onto the floor and says, "I'm going on my own" or says he has a new affiliation.
Who would stand up?
Peggy, of course. And..........Joan.
Maddicts, anybody else?

For sure, Harry since he's already shown to be looking elsewhere. Probably Pete, too and I agree that Joan and Peggy would be the first to stand up.
I think Peggy would want to rival them
I wonder if Don would try the agency (forgot the name) that was trying to woo him before.
I wonder also who would follow him. I've seen this happen before. When a strong individual leaves a company, they often have people loyal to them follow. But that also depends on how much the other individuals have invested in the company.
On the lighter side...Bert Cooper would stand up, only if he could take off his shoes.
I think Pete would, too, and then Duck would try to woo him back and Pete would waffle.
I know Peggy would follow...not sure about Joan. She's has a pretty good ranking where she's at. She get's to call the shots with all the "girls" She might not have that status if she leaves. Plus, I think she's still in love with Roger.
I have to disagree that Pete would leave. He's tried to send Don down the river before. He's a two faced back-stabber, and I think he would be glad to see Don go. He's mentioned before that he wanted Don's job. I think this would give Pete an opportunity to play "war" and try to compete with Don's new agency.
Don's the creative director and doesn't have any real challenge at the agency—short of suddenly getting real flack from Burt and Roger or the two of them saying "get in line with Duck or get out," why would Don really want to leave? When you leave it's more important to have accounts go with you than employees; employees, in the long run, can be replaced with new talent as we've already seen Don interviewing.
Who would be willing to leave SC to go with Don? He'd be nuts to leave without any accounts lined up and ready to go.
Well, the Kodak account could likely be charmed into going with Don since he's the one who came up with the brilliant "Carousel" campaign for them. Maybe the Lucky Strike folks, too (It's Toasted!") And possibly some others (Belle Jolie?) that he can charm into following him, although he would have to do one slick job of persuasion to get the Mohawk Airlines guy to ever trust him again! But, with Don, never say never!
You are right on target, MadShrubbery!! Don doesn't have accounts, SC has the accounts. Many clients stay with a company not because of the creativity, but because of the people. Bert Cooper has connections with the money - he was talking about his house in the Hamptons. Roger's got connections from his family's money and we have seen a little bit of Roger's money being flashed around. Don doesn't have squat!! His house is definately not decorated to woo clients with dinner parties. He doesn't even have a car - Roger gives him rides. Don would have to move to Manhatten, bring in an interior designer, groom Betty and come up with some extremely loyal clients if he were to ever go out on his own. Not to mention the Mohawk Airlines probably has them black balled with other airline accounts.
