The Benefactor Episode 3

Working on this show was one of the highlights of my professional acting career since 1989. Although, I was only featured background (see my picture left of Jon Hamm on this week's Main Mad Men Site) Every single person is a true artist on this show. They really inspired me so much and wish I could have a speaking role on this great show. I have been a great fan of this show watching each episode at least 5 times since episode 1 and each time it's like waching it for the first time. Season 2 for me took a little getting used to since I had gotten used to the characters of Season 1,but it's getting hot! Also, vote for me as Peggy on the contest!

hi nora that is amazing ... good luck with your career!

user-pic

Congratulations Nora! That's a wonderful break as an actress! Hope this will launch more offers for you!

user-pic

I voted for you and I hope you get a speaking role, too! You do look familiar so I'm sure I've seen you in stuff "over the years". You are very talented and good luck in the contest and continued luck in your acting career!

user-pic

Congrats Nora! I'll look for you this Sunday!

Do you get to converse w/ the other actors?

I'd love to be able to do a scene w/ Mr. Hamm. Good for you Nora!

user-pic

You know what, Nora, if I'd been you, I'd have walked right over to Mr. Hamm and grabbed him and planted one on him before he knew what was happening---and then said (it would be the truth!) "I couldn't help myself." ----Just to say I had done it! LOL Did you get a good look at him up close at least? Please tell us he's at least as gorgeous "in person" as he is in MM...maybe more??!!

user-pic

Yes, I did speak to Mr. Hamm and January Jones. They look so cute together. During our lunch break, they had on casual clothes and they looked like children, so cute, both of them. Mr. Hamm had on a white undershirt and looked so svelte and relaxed! I told them both I'm such a fan and have watched each episode about 5 times. January said "really' furrowing her brow a little out of shyness, Mr. Hamm said "Is that so and smiled". Then he put his hand on the small of January's small of her back and wondered into the set to prepare as we got back from lunch. She looks like a doll. And, he carries himself so well and is such a handsome man, onscreen and off! Well, that was my great experience on Mad Men. I would love to have some speaking lines there one day. Don't forget to vote for me as Peggy in the contest!

user-pic

Neat to hear your "first hand" experience! And, I did vote for you, you're very talented. I saw Jon Hamm on David Letterman a few weeks ago and he has a very endearing manner. He'd get the cutest anticipatory expression on his face while talking to Dave that I can't really describe but it he came across as very down to earth and sweet.

user-pic

I'm w/ scfan...I'd plant one right on Jon Hamm's kisser if I got the chance. Is Jon Hamm's appearance on DL available on youtube? I missed it :(

I agree scfan, there is something so sweet and endearing about Jon Hamm in the interviews I've read and seen. He seems like a down to earth person. I'm not sure if it's that boyish smile or those nice eyes of his that has me so smitten ;) Heck, I'm blushing right now just thinking about them....whew!

Where do I vote for you as Peggy, Nora? I'm still learning to navigate this site. I'd be happy to vote for you, just let me know where.

Thanks so much for sharing your insights to working w/ the MM cast!

user-pic

Hi scfan!
Thanks for the vote and your kind words. I just can't get enough of this show. I'm hooked. I'll be looking forward to watching Sunday's episode. I walk into the restaurant and sit where the photo still on the Main Mad Men site is this week to the left of Mr. Hamm. Fun! Take care. I'm going to you tube Jon Hamm on the David Letterman show right now so I can see the cute expression you're talking about!

user-pic

Hey, I haven't checked that yet(YouTube) myself to see if he's on there--I hope so! I really hope it's on there! Very neat interview...although Dave didn't seem very impressed with him...but that's nothing new, huh?

user-pic

Oh, anyone voting for Nora's Peggy can go the link that says contest and click on the right side where they have Peggy (everyone's Peggy entries) and scroll til you come to hers. They're all grouped by who they are doing...(Peggy, Pete, Joan, etc.) I love Nora's for actual talent...but I do still love Jason(?) Zell's (Joan) for humor!

user-pic

Oh, and Nora...I think you'd be a good "Betty" too! Why don't you do a video of her as well...just a thought!

user-pic

Hi scfan and Tracy! It's so much fun talking about something we have in common, this great show. Yes, I might do "Betty", thanks for the insight. Heck, I'll do them all (ha), the writing is so great and inspiring. Tracy I was so happy the video I did got "Editor's Pick" today so it's on the first page of the contest. What do you do scfan and Tracy? I'm curious to see who this show draws in. Thanks, again!

user-pic

Nora, just click on the "Who's Watching This Show? Can You Relate?" thread of these forums and my "profile" is about the 4th or 5th one down and Tracy's is somewhat further down further on the page. I'm a "Boomer" born in 1951! Congrats on getting "Editor's Pick"! Oh, and you should post on the "Who's Watching This Show? Can You Relate?" and tell a few details of your life too!

user-pic

Hi scfan,
I will click on "Who's Watching...". I just started a new forum on "Cinematography". Hope you can add to it. Thanks.

user-pic

scfan and Tracy, I have been blogging on the "Who's Watching..." It's been so interesting to talk to these people. Please see forum Cinematography and let me know what you've seen! Don't forget to watch me this Sunday as I walk into the restaurant scene!!!!!!!!!!!

user-pic

Wow, you actually get to walk in and it's not just you sitting there, already? Cool! I'll watch for you! (I just posted to your Cinematography forum!)

user-pic

Hey Nora, yes! It is very exciting to talk w/ everyone who shares a love and appreciation for Mad Men. It is a wonderful show and I've practically told everyone in my family, friends and those I work with about it. I hope they are tuning in. Oh and Nora, I found your 'Peggy' video...very good job!! I hope you get the walk on!! I also admire you're acting pursuits. All the best to you for a speaking role on the show :) Oh and I'm a senior admin/proj. coor for a non profit co in Wash DC. If you click on my name, you'll find a link for my blog. Hope you like it! Again, it's great to be meeting everyone on these blogs!

user-pic

Yeah, I hope they show the whole thing on Sunday! This is such a cool show!

user-pic

Tracy,
I just visited "the woo woo lounge" where "everything is shaken and stirred" great name and I'll have some of that to drink! Watch me walk into the restaurant Sunday! We must all get together for an Emmy Party. Come to L.A.! I'll have it!

default userpic

Hi Nora!

I'll certainly watch for you in the episode and go to the voting area, too. It's actually great to blog with someone who was actually on the show.

So that makes two from Mad Men I've contact with: you and Robert Morse.

Did you save me any dessert from the dinner scene?

user-pic

Thanks Nora for the kind words about my blog. I appreciate it. I'll definitely keep an eye out for you in the restaurant scene on Sunday! I so wish I could meet up and join in on a Emmy Party in LA, but won't be able to make it. But maybe a trip to LA is in my future some day...when that happens, I'll let you know!

user-pic

Maybe somebody here can ask Michael Kors (see his forum in these boards) to charter a plane to go to Nora's for the party. I wish I could go but can't (schedule won't allow plus can't afford it right now either) He (Kors) is as much of a fanatic as all of us,so he just might spring for it! just a thought. ha

user-pic

Hey, Tracy, neat blog...really slick looking too

user-pic

wryter, how did you meet or have contact with Robert Morse? I bet he's ultra cool off camera even.

user-pic

wryter1,
Yes, I saved you dessert! Funny! How did you meet Robert Morse! Nice! Thanks for voting for me too. That wa really nice what you said.
scfan,
Just maybe I'll ask Michael Kors. What's an emmy without the fans right. It would be great!!!!!!

default userpic

Why would you ask a fashion designer, who has nothing to do with MM, except that he is a rabid fan, like the rest of us, "what's an Emmy without fans" ?

Michael Kors threw an MM watching party for his friends. Why would he do so for those here, whom he doesn't know?

Your post is confusing.

user-pic

PeggySue,
Did you get married yet?
Don't worry about Michael Kors. If you read a little closer you would have noticed that I was answering scfan. So don't get confused.

user-pic

Hi scfan,
It's great knowing more about you and I reiterate bringing up children is the most important job anyone can do. I wandered into Michael Kors blog and asked him to jet you all here for the Emmy party I'm holding in Beverly Hills. What fun that would be.

user-pic

Oh hell, PeggySue, I was just fooling around! You are right, there isn't a reason in the wide world why Michael Kors would jet a bunch of us nut cases "whom he doesn't even know" just because we are "Mad Men" crazy out to Nora's Emmy party! I was being ironic...but, since Nora actually did go on his blog and asked him (unless she's just fooling around too, what the hell, he just might do it! Go Nora! Never hurts to ask, huh? I think it's funny myself. All the man can do is say no...or just ignore it. I will say one thing, PeggySue, you are a real humdinger. Take that however you want.

user-pic

Hi scfan,
You're right people here will just say "no" or ignore you. But, I've been in this town long enough to know that also anything can happen and sometimes there are good things happening around town. Anyway, it's fun talking to all you folks out there in the best site there is. I'm ordering a Sterling Cooper sweatshirt! I'm in there!

Hi Nora, scfan!

I had posted my encounter with Robert Morse in another area, but I'll be happy to do a recap here.

Early in my career, around 1969 or 70, I was walking near a construction site during lunch hour and there was an area you could only traverse on a plankway that had railings on the sides. The plankway was only wide enough for 1 person.

I had entered at one end. Robert Morse had entered at the other. We were the only 2 people on the plankway at the time and we met at the middle.
When I looked up (in New York you always looked down so you didn't setp in dog poop) I saw that it was Morse. We both stopped. He smiled, stepped partially aside, and motioned me to proceed. I said, "No, please, after you" -- or something to that effect --and motioned him through. He smiled, said, "Thank you." and sped along on his way.

I had been a fan of his long before that time, and wished that I had asked him for his autograph, but he seemed in as much of a hurry as I did at that point in time.

I should really ask him for his autograph. I'd love to have it.

user-pic

Scfan...thanks so much for your nice words about my blog. I don't post as often as I would like, but when the mood strikes me I try to post, especially when I get passionate about someone or something. :)

Hey Nora, heck, if Michael Kors is willing to jet us all to LA for an Emmy Party...I'm in....I know this is all in fun, but hey, ya' ne-vah know...stranger things have happened!!

Wryter1, that is so cool that you had that encounter w/ Robert Morse. Thanks for the recap!

I caught a repeat of MM Ep2 this morning and I'm telling you, there aren't enough words to express how much I love the show. I absolutely L-O-V-E it!!

user-pic

Yeah, Tracy and all, I can't afford to jet out (or drive with the gas mess) but, hey, if Michael K. wants to get some cool puplicity and take it all over for us I'm in, to! Like Nora says, in Hollywood you never know. Well, see everybody at Nora'a with Michael buying the champagne and h'ors duerves (how the heck do you spell it?)---uh... the snacks!

user-pic

I'm glued to this site. I have my meals in front of it and everything. My dog charlie sits by me hoping to get attention. I haven't told you about the little guy. He's an actor too! Charlie a 7 lb Yorkie!
scfan,
I was hoping in your recap of Robert Morse that you would have talked to him. Maybe you can allude to this in person with him someday!
Tracy,
Yeah, it would be a fun thing to happen if MK agreed. What's a show without devout fans, right! I've got to watch Episode 2 again. You talked me into it.
By the way, does anyone know how I can link the front page of the Main Mad Men site for this week to my e-mail address? They'll change the pic by tomorrow and would love to have the keepsake!

user-pic

Sorry, wryter1, I meant to direct the e-mail to you re: Robert Morse! I have scfan on my brain.

user-pic

Ten and a half hours till showtime in Tinseltown! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

default userpic

Sorry Nora and scfan......I tend to be a bit literal.

I know that you're referring to the movie ( with the "did you get married yet" question ), but my nic refers to the song, which was popular when I was in boarding school and where, I think that the movie too the name from.

In answer...........yes, I am married.
