Music in Mad Men

Bach in Three Sundays, "Sukiyaki" in Flight 1 - sometimes the use of music and pop songs in MM is historically or culturally accurate...and sometimes not. I read on your blog about the controversy regarding the song "Sukiyaki" and the year it first appeared in the U.S. When I was eight years old in 1962, I had a piano book with the song included as a "top hit."

When I heard that song on the MM episode, it sure brought back some memories. Same with "Lollipops and Roses," which I've had stuck in my mind since Episode 2 of this season. My husband is ready to kill me if I sing it one more time (off-key, of course).
