I agree, though I have still found these first two episodes scintillating, they were not quite as good as last year. They seem to miss a bit of the spark, and I don't really think I like Draper as the "family man;" though I am certain he will return to his old ways.

I was a bit surprised by the 18-month gap between seasons, I wonder if it was just easier to resume the series this way (less answers to give and more mystery?)

Still watching, though!

I think that starting the second series close to 2 years later was a good idea. Otherwise, It might just evolve into same-old, same-old and lose its spark.

This way, we get to observe new behavior in all the characters' personal and business lives ~ without having to be spoon fed step-by-step through the process, which could get boring.

Perhaps it seems a little dodgy with these first couple of episodes, but as so many others have said on these boards; they set the bar so high for themselves the first season, that we expect it to be set even higher this season. And let's not forget the writers strike, which certainly condensed the actual time to write and produce the new shows.

I don't think they've fallen below the bar and that is a credit to their talents. It might be good to think of this whole series as a marathon of great writing and performing instead of a wind-sprint.

The characters are changing, the business is changing, the pulse of the country is changing. And as we watch, we go through those pivotal changing points with them. The characters are uncomfortable ~ and we feel that along with them.
