Funny, My Technical difficulties on the Web Have Cleared Up

My web site has been fixed thanks to the great advise of "the fans". Though it didn't help my fractured rib from laughing so much. I know I can count on the very intelligent, talented Mad Men Website fans.

I don't mean to judge you, but why is this on the AMC site? I know you're trying to launch your acting careerr--who isn't, but why are you posting this here?

user-pic

Dear Betty Crocker,
I was genuinely worried about my Mad Men Site going bye bye. It was literally blanking out and I thought that maybe there was a virus happening and needed to know if others were experiencing same. What in the H does this have to do with launching any career? You sound bitter. I have very well contributed to this site as a very avid fan and find 99% of the people in this site very talented, interesting people. So get off my back!

user-pic

Nora, I'm glad your tech. troubles have gone away.

I really enjoy your input, not just because you are a fan, but because you are in the industry, and have been on the MM show. Thank you!

Nora, 60'schild

Well, looks like you burned Betty Crocker's buns.

user-pic

LOL...okay, I deserved that wryter! But I just didn't understand why her personal web site stuff was on this site, and I've seen a lot of posts by her about her acting career, so I thought it was another self-promotional post (that pushes other more topical posts into the archives). But I should have checked out your web site first before I spoke--I take it you have your own Mad Men web site? Do you have a link?

B.C.

It's human nature for people to want to reveal something about themselves on this forum.

It just happens. You've been pretty tame about it in your criticism of Nora. Others have ranted themselves into a free ticket off the forum by dissing others in really nasty terms. (at least 2 of them in the past week and a half)

Nora actually has a closer connection to the show than anybody else on the boards here. She's actually been on the set, talked to some of the stars, and appeared in the background. Most of us would kill for that opportunity.

We all relate to Mad Men, myself included; having been one in NYC for 22 years. And things about myself do spill out occasionally when I'm trying to make a point about something in Mad Men, and how I relate to it from my background.

My personal web site was mentioned on this forum also, But, that's because somebody asked me what I do now.

Even your posts, which are pretty darn good, reveal something about you.

So, enjoy, get to know each of us a little -- and find out lots about the characters in the show. We're all in this together for fun, facts ~ and enjoyment.

One more thought:

Clayton is the 'blog father' here and monitors the content as to what's appropriate and what's not.

We all trust his judgment.

Oh, Hi Clayton! Do I get a raise?

user-pic

I have seen him pull a few very off topic posts...I apologize if this wasn't one of them. Normally, I would just scroll by posts that aren't relevant, but this web site is a bit quirky/tempermental--I don't see a way to find my threads easily and have trouble finding old discussions (and when I'm on my Macbook, I can't even get past the first page of the talk section). So having excessive threads makes it harder to read.

Unless I am missing a sorting tool or something?

user-pic

I agree with wryter1, I would have loved to have been able to even be in the same room with Jon Hamm, and it is in the nature of actors to want to publicize themselves. Probably comes from having to endure all the "cattle call" auditions they've been a part of over the years, right Nora? I can understand it. I believe one of us posters e-mailed Clayton to get those crazy and obscene posts off the board, it was a name calling fest as I recall. Anyway, I do agree that we are all here for fun and to worship our beloved Mad Men! LOL

user-pic

BTW--I completely misunderstood your post Nora--I didn't realize you were talking about THIS website. I thought you were talking about your own web site and so I got annoyed that someone would use this site to start a whole thread about their own web site (as opposed to mentioning it in an existing thread as an aside). So I totally apologize because you didn't even do what I said you did!

user-pic

Ahhh don't give it another thought, BC, we're all nuts here and it you weren't you wouldn't fit in at all. Mad Men crazies unite!

user-pic

I meant "IF you weren't" See what I mean?

I'm sure Clayton found those posters himself. He does a good job in syping the 'bad apples'.

default userpic

Uhhhh...I meant "spying." Still have some disfunctional fingers from my auto accident 4 years ago.

user-pic

wryter1, Clayton is our Guardian Angel From Above. just kidding. Thanks, Clayton for keeping all the malicious malcontents away from us harmless babbling nut jobs. I speak only for myself. And wryter1, of course. Hurry up Sunday night!!!

Harmless babbling nut jobs? We must have been twins separated at birth.

No, wait a minute -- that can't be. Robert Redford, Tom Selleck and myself are triplets, who were tracially separated at birth -- by about 3,000 miles.

Talk about long distance delivery. Our mother would've put FEDEX, UPS and DHL to shame.

Oooops! I meant to type tragically.

Come to think of it, I do type pretty tragically.

I just re-read my post and I actually call this "my web site". I can't believe it. I'm so hooked! I can see how you misunderstood, Betty Croker. But, phewww, I thought I was going to be in hot water and have to go to the corner and wear a dunce hat marked "Pete Campbell naughties". I love this site and this show so much that I couldn't bear not being able to comment. Thanks to wryter1 and scfan too for knowing what I was trying to say. I just panicked when my, I mean, this site kept blanking out. I'll be more clear next post. Thanks for the relief that all is well and good! Can I Say It Now!!!!!!!!!14 Hours til SHOWTIME IN L.A.!!!!!!!!!

user-pic

Nora, I'm not positive but I think that maybe the reason you had the trouble with the site was it was so busy...I don't know if it would "blank out" like your experience, but it does slow down when all of us are here at one time! Good for AMC but bad for us! Yay only one more day!

user-pic

scfan!
9 Hours and 30 Minutes til Mad Men! Hooray! Thanks scfan for your input and always being so supportive!! I'm jealous that you get to see it before I do. I'll be writing on the site and getting in all sorts of trouble. He,He!

user-pic

21 hours and 27 minutes til Mad Men now in L.A.
scfan, I miscalculated the hours before.

Nora
I'm fairly new to this website and to MM. I got hooked after watching 2 shows of season 2 and then to catch up, went back and watched all of the episodes of season 1 It's been mentioned that you have appeared on some of the shows...which ones?

user-pic

Hi Cecil,
I had the honor of working on the third episode, the "Benefactor". It was such a great experience. Why don't you see the contest, I did Joan Holloway and maybe I will be back on another great episode!
Thanks for your interest Cecil!
