Contest

I'm not sure who is monitoring the Mad Men contest on this site. I have voted for contestants that I feel did a good job and deserve the right to be on the show. Now I understand that some contestants are using other web sites to obtain votes. This doesn't seem right, and not fair to the people who have followed the rules to enter the contest.
Do our votes count? PLEASE, whoever is monitoring the contest look at this.
Any fellow Maddicts who voted and are upset by this please respond! Thanks!!

Yes 60's child,
I answered you on another blog, and I repeat, one cannot join any contest or game show nowadays, they are all rigged. The person who knows more about rigging scores is the winner. They should win a prize on knowing how to rig numbers! I'm out of that ballgame. Maybe there should be a committee who evaluates the comments and counts them, not the number of votes might be more fair. It's just "not fair" like Peggy Olson says in her monologue that I did!

So you're saying if a presidential candidate goes out and campaigns on television, in public, on the radio, online, etc. and gets more votes that's an unfair contest?

If you wanted to win, you needed to publicize your candidacy. The entrants were portraying characters who worked in an ad agency! The idea of a campaign should have been part deux of their submission! Kudos to the people who used their brains to get out the word in the most creative ways and widest forms possible. I hope they win; they understand their characters' conniving advertising world ways.

I agree with you all. I hope the contest folks read all these posts and decide to count only the votes originating on this site. That is the ONLY fair way! But, how will they be able to tell the people that have been notified on other sites and then come here to vote from the ones who just vote on the site honestly. I wish there was a way!...Hope Hope....

Oh heck...I just read MadShrubbery's post which showed up after mine did but was not on during my typing of my post.
Now that I read his post, I kinda agree with it! I can see both sides of this mess, but it does sort of make sense for entrants to publicize their entries to get votes, too!
I just say let the best video win! How that will happen, I do not know...there are soooooo many great ones. I agree with Christopher, there should be categories like the awards shows...then each "best" of each "type" could win...oh well...if there's only one Grand Prize, then may the best video win!

Hi MadShrubbery! I asume by your name you are a Monty Python fan?
I think you are comparing apples and oranges, comparing thr MM contest to a presidential campaign.
My point is that I was led to believe that the contestants were chosen by votes from members of this MM forum. I didn't think there were other options for the contestants.
It still doesn't seem right to me that certain people in the contest who have better computer skills and connections can "stuff the ballot box", since you were speaking of Pres. elections in order to win.
After all, this is a contest about acting, not computer technology. Thanks for your response!

Thanks 60's child! I'm off to watch episode 2. There's a question about Betty's maiden name mentioned by her friend Juanita. Also, a question as to why Betty's in therapy. At first, I thought it was because she was a sex addict and Don didn't trust her. Her connection with Juanita?? Oh boy, another blog is brewing!

September 2 thru September 18 will be when 18 finalists will be chosen. The winner will be the person with the highest number of VALID votes. voting is open only to registered members of the website and only one vote per member per day is allowed. " Votes generated by script, macro, or other automated means or with the intent to impair the integrity of the voting process will be void." O.K. now this is fair. Let the best person win!

@60'schild:

Half the name is proof of a Python fan, half a tribute to a favorite music album, but I digress...

I was merely using the presidential election as a gross comparison, but hopefully once a voter is lured to the site they would still choose the better actor versus just the one that provided the original link. As another example, one of the recent main MM Blog posts promoted Joe Bartolotta and Valerie Long (Which I personally felt was unfair promotion from the top brass.); while they prompted me to check them out, they necessarily didn't cause me to vote for them.

Hey, remember Justin Zell? I think he entered about the first week of the contest. I still like his "Joan"---hilarious

Nora, I am so glad to hear about the contest update!

MadShrubbery, thank you for clarifying. I agree, the contest is supposed to be about talent.
So nice to meet a fellow Python fan, especially a "Holy Grail" fan! Now I'm curious, what album does your name come from? If you don't mind sharing...
