Rachel

Will Don and her be together again?

I would guess not. Her abrupt departure signaled a change in her sentiments towards Don. She recognizes she can't have him and her affair is a pipe dream. I think she's moved on, perhaps to Don's consternation. But I would love to be proven wrong, ahem, Matthew...

The actress who played Rachael, Maggie Siff, signed on with a new series. Don't think her character will be coming back - darn! Rachael and Don had such great chemistry, too! Unless they can snag her for guest spots. Loved that storyline too, Auntie Depressant (love the name).

Yes, Clayton is right. I also think Rachel lost respect for Don when he had that meltdown at her apt. And for a strong woman like her, losing respect is the kiss of death for her feelings toward a man.

I'm kind of glad Rachel left the show. I didn't care for her at all. Her attitude at the SC meetings was downright bitchy. There is a fine line between being assertive and aggressive. Rachel has an ax to gring with all men. Someone did a number on her. I bet it was someone who cheated on her while they were dating, or called off an engagement. I think she is so bitter the only way she survives is by digging into her work. Not to mention she is trying to be the son her father never had. Notice Peggy gets the same way too, sometimes? At least Peggy tries to be pleasant most of the time. You can be assertive without being aggressive. If Rachel were working anywhere other than Daddy's store she would be have been thrown out on her _ss the first day. I hated seeing Don with someone rides their broom to work everyday as she dodges flying houses.

I HOPE the writers bring this character back. I just finished watching the entire first season in a span of 4 days. The chemistry between these two characters was so intense. I can't wait to see what happened next. My prediction? She left because she is pregnant with Don's child.

According to IMDB, Maggie Siff is in the season 2 premiere.

Bummer...I was hoping Maggie would take the other show and no longer be with Mad Men. I think she was hungry to do Mad Men. She got a little recognition for her acting and it is going to her head. She is courting other options and not loyal to Mad Men (the show who gave her that recognition!!). Kind of like all those sitcoms where the supporting characters feel they are worth more than the main character. They end of delaying the show because some yahoo thinks he/she is now the star and deserves to be paid the same (if not more) as the main character. Jon Hamm is the Mad Men so move along Maggie. Matt is not renaming the show "Mad Women" for you.

the incredible chemistry between don and rachel in season one was the most compelling reason for viewing madmen, at least for this viewer, and brought out the most poignant, soulful and sexy side of don.
I find betty to be extremely annoying, both in her princess/helpless stage in season one, as well as her repressed anger/bitchy stage this season...but rachel was someone who we women could admire and root for to end up with don...the tension in their relationship (will they end up together, do they have a future together, can true love win out?) drove a lot of the tension in season 1. I will probably still continue to watch because I adore Jon Hamm in the role, and the writing is top notch, but without the tension created in the dynamic between don and rachel, it simply isn't the same!
