Episode 1 of Season 2 Premieres Today!!
The Premiere is going to air today at different times. If you have seen it, what did you think? Was it what you expected? Where are MM writers going with the characters?

Not being a fan of many soaps, daytime or nightitme, (except ABC's D.H. of course) I haven't seen much of the 1st season of Mad Men. BUT, I worked in the San Francisco office of BBDO for nearly 10 years from the mid-'50's to mid-'60's.
I have my own West Coast stories to remember!
The late Hal Chase was one sweet guy! I am interested in connecting up with anyone I worked with in those days.
Goldie, I bet you have some great stories. Are you finding the series to be accurate to the time period?
I like the series because it reminds me so much of my late Father. Even when he was in his 80's he still dressed very much like the actors in the series. He never left the house without his hate (which was the same as Don Draper wears.). And so much of the items on the set remind of Dad. He had the same set of drinking glasses that they use in the office (with the silver trim). I haven't seen any yet but I always wonder if we'll ever see any Vitalis in the cupboards LOL.
Overall though, I love the series. Can't wait for tonight's premiere.
The glasses with the silver trim were the first thing I noticed when I watched the series!! There were also serving bowls with the silver trim (I think they are still around) as well as the ashtrays. My parents didn't smoke, but we had those ashtrays for their friends who smoked. I remember the mornings after their parties and the smell of smoke being in our house and the garbage full of cigarette butts. My Mom was the martini drinker and my Dad liked the burbon. They always had the three staples at their parties- vodka, burbon and scotch. I remember not being able to sleep because they were so loud!! Coming from a seven year old kid, that was pretty bad. You couldn't hear the music over their voices!
Boring, boring, boring. My god, who was it who said the America's most creative were all working at ad agencies - I think he said it in the 60's. This show has got to be a bunch of old fogies more suited to accounting firms than ad agencies that came up with the VW adds, o'please I could go on but why bother these idiots in Hollywood have no idea what happened back then because they re not talking to any of the copy writers
Loving it so far. Pete with the chocolates -- nothing but class...
Loved the show. It stayed true to the concept of last season. I hate when shows go in a different direction in the next season. But not MM. They're keeping it consistent.
I have to say though, I didn't like Peggy's snarky comments to Don's new secretary. Is her new position going to her head? Although I thought she paid back when they put that monster copy machine in her office. Good job Joan!! LOL.
So now I can't wait until next week!!!
Love episode two. Glad your back. BUT!!!!! I was so disapointed in Jon Hamm's interview with Letterman. It seems that Letterman is not familiar with Mad Men and was not prepared for Hamm. What happened????? We need a re-do and Letterman should watch all the Mad Man episodes. Hopefully that will give him more admiration for Hamm and the exceptional series. What do the heads at Mad Man think bout the interview. I was embarrased for everyone.
What about Salvetore!!!!!
I think that Sal had the beejezuz scared out of him at dinner w/the client last season- his cover was blown. Yes, it's his wife not gf if you check the quickly running credits at the end - good source of clues. Perhaps, she's the telephone operator whohad a cruch on him. It was hard to check his left hand for wedding ring.
Where is the spark the excitement that was generated by those fast moving - sharp thinking - ad men/women of the '60's? Where is the hunger from those - not so distant soldiers - looking for a better life than their parents experienced. Where is the fire generated when developing an ad campaign? The clothes look good, the office looks realistic, but where is the dynamic and desperate feeling that was the life blood of ad agencies.
