How the hell do I send a note to Matt Weiner?
I'm 76 years old and spent my first nine years out of
San Diego State at the S.F. office of BBDO, living MADMEN on the West Coast! Saw Charlie Rose tonight and would like to send a story or two of those days ... as a "fair haired boy" who was Jewish. Pls.
take a look at my "later years" in Jamaica, W.I. @

Peggy's baby:
i believe this is how its going to be played out:
Trudy will not be able to have children. Her and Pete will adopt - and it will be Peggy's baby they adopt - Peggy will find out and blood tests will be done and Pete will find out he is the blood father,
Great site Goldie. Looks like a great place.
How about you post some of your stories here so the fans can do some comparisons between real life and the show. Would love to hear how it really was.
I'm a couple of details up on you, Joel. I am female, I had my first job in a New York ad agency as an assistant art director in exactly 1960, and worked at just about every major NY agency you can think of for the rest of my career. I left as Creative Director at J. Walter Thompson in 2003. In other words, I come pretty close to being Peggy.
And lfwh, how was it really? Pretty much as depicted in this fantastic program. I'm dumbstruck that the young producers of this show could have researched this with such accuracy.
Joel, i'd like to get in touch with Matt, too. I have a few gender stories that might raise a some hairs.
I'm back by popular demand (1 request) to relate a story. BBDO-SF was the largest single ad agency
office west of Chicago. I was in the mail room in 1955 or 6 when we got a new account. We already had SOC, PG&E, PT&T, MJB(coffee) and a bunch of other letters. The conference room is full of all of our Don's, Harry's, Tony's, Pete's and Louie Means.
Celebration! So I figure my idea was as good as anyone's. I went across Montgomery St. to the Domino Club and bought a pitcher of martini's! Went back up to the 22nd floor, I think, put the pitcher in the middle of the conference room table and expected my "well done" pat on the back! NOT!
Just about every office had booze in it ... I was the "mail boy" who just knew things like that.
The look on the faces ... everyone of them ... are still in my memory! Not in public, stupid!

I am so hooked on Mad Men and really want it to go on forever. Now, that that's over and done with I must go into my specific comments - I'm 74 - I'm gay and was so in 1960 when I was working in advertising on the client side - then I met my lover (male - as I am also) (we were together for 22 years until he died and went off to advertising heaven). He was creative director for McCann Erickson - later to become Interpublic Group. And we were certainly OUT and I do mean OUT to everybody - and so were a lot of other gay people, guys and girls. A lot of gays were, and still are, in advertising and we were responsible for a lot of the way advertising is still being played out. My lover was in charge of some of the most major accounts of the day - Buick/Esso(Exxon) etc. So if it pleases you, could you have at least one character who is totally out of the closet. Thanks so much for the series - as I said, I hope it goes on forever. And - thanks for the memories. 92262jimmyz
