What a great idea..I cannot wait for the series to start again..yet I think I am the only one I know watching it now. I think for a great 1960's bash..you will need a great apron and fondue. I think the caesar salad was big back then with the raw egg and anchovy. It also depends if you will set your party theme in the city or surburbs. I love that era!
I am so glad that it is on a Sunday night. We have always circled our Sunday dinners around the shows..Sopranos..pasta, red wine and steaks..Burbon Steaks for Deadwood..Waldrof Salads for Sex in the City..I will have to start dreaming up my sunday nite..with the men...

Loads of clip on earrings and fake pearls. Don't forget the neckscarfs. The guys need to get plaid anything( if a casual party) White shoes. Martini sets. Where the glasses and mixer matched with a tray. They had the George Jetson like orbit star for a design. Yes the fancy apron! How fun is that?
Blast from the past.

Well if you're doing a casual summer BBQ kind a thing the women would have to wear skintight pedal pusher pants that go about mid calf with a side slit on the bottom hem & waist side zipper with sleeveless collared shirts (upturned & usually white) with the tails tied above their pants, and flip flops. Red or pink lipstick, polish, big sunglasses, hair up in a ponytail or French twist. The guys could either have Hawaiian shirts or those two-tone casual shirts with some godawful embroidery on it for decoration, mostly slacks (I don't remember seeing any men in shorts but they did wear men's versions of pedal pushers for waterskiing). The menu for then would be easy hot dogs, burgers, potato chips & dip, potato salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, watermelon, beer (Rainier, Hamm's, Budweiser), coke & kool-aid - lots of kool-aid. And of course the biggie, some really big multi-colored ashtrays (I have a Marilyn Monroe one with her dress going up from "Some Like It Hot").

I too have thought of having a season 2 premiere get together. My sister and I both watch it but we live 2000 miles apart. The show is awesome and as I use to work when I was younger in downtown St. Louis, the atmosphere is so correct in the office.

JAMM54 is really right on target about the BBQ! It was an idea I have been tossing around. Just need to find the people who would enjoy the show.

Too bad Directv does not have the first season on demand.
