A big congratulations goes out to Alan Taylor, who won the Directors Guild award for the premiere episode "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes." In the pilot, he created a look that carried all the way through the first season. That's no small feat.
The Screen Actors Guild awards didn't go as well for the boys on Madison Avenue, though. Jon Hamm, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama, lost out this time to James Gandolfini for The Sopranos, a show which also won the ensemble cast award. Was it nostalgia? Did Mad Men get robbed? Will the AMC series end up on top again at the Writers Guild awards on February 9? Let us know what you think.
