Mad Men Picks Up Two Satellite Award Nominations
The International Press Academy announced today their nominees for the 17th Annual Satellite Awards, and Mad Men was honored with two nods: Jon Hamm has been nominated in the Actor in a Drama Series category, and Christina Hendricks has been nominated in the Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture made for Television category.
Jon Hamm competes for the Drama Actor award against Jeff Daniels from HBO's The Newsroom; Damian Lewis from Showtime's Homeland; Timothy Olyphant from FX's Justified; Johnny Lee Miller from CBS' Elementary; and Bryan Cranston from AMC's own Breaking Bad are also nominated.
In the Supporting Actress category, Christina Hendricks faces off against Maya Rudolph from NBC's Up All Night; Maggie Smith from PBS' Downton Abbey; Mayim Bialik from CBS' The Big Bang Theory; Sarah Paulson from HBO's Game Change; and Mare Winningham from History's Hatfields & McCoys.
AMC picked up a total of seven Satellite Award nods this year, with Breaking Bad receiving three nominations and The Walking Dead receiving a nomination as well as a special achievement award.
The Satellite Awards are presented by the International Press Academy (IPA), an entertainment media association with voting members worldwide who represent domestic and foreign markets via print, television, radio, blogs, and other content platforms for virtually every notable outlet.
The awards will be presented during a ceremony on Sun., Dec. 16.
