Yet More Best of Lists for Mad Men: USA Today, Boston Globe, Etc.

The papers were getting their last licks in for Best of 2009, and Mad Men garnered mentions in USA Today, the Boston Globe, and TV Guide among other outlets. Read on for more details and to hear January Jones' New Year's resolutions for Betty. Happy New Year everyone!

• USA Today included the show in its roster of the ten best of the year. The same list also names Jon Hamm as their favorite actor in a drama series.

• The show is also on Newsday's list (in the No. 2 spot, after Breaking Bad!). "When AMC submits the episode where Don finally comes clean to Betty to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for best drama consideration, another gold statue is assured." Aw. • The Boston Globe's Matthew Gilbert says Mad Men was his favorite series of the year: "The plot moved incrementally until the penultimate assassination episode, and so did the scenes and dialogue, as the writers and actors let the pauses and silences speak loudly."

• The Kansas City Star singles out the season finale as the "best hour of TV in 2009." Says Aaron Barnhart, "As Roy Orbison warbled 'Shadarobah' over the closing credits, I knew I'd just witnessed perfection."

• The Salt Lake Tribune puts together its list for 2009 and Mad Men makes the cut.

• The Cleveland Plain-Dealer places Mad Men on the top of the list and says, "Television just didn't get any better in 2009."

• Other best of lists in the Orange County Register, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Orlando Sentinel and the Chicago Sun Times.

• In the best of the decade front, the show gets cited by Birmingham News, the Arizona Republic, the St. Petersburg Times, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram and TV Guide.

• The Oregonian puts AMC on it's list of the ten best things on TV in the past ten years.

• TV Squad includes Hamm in its list of top actors for the decade.

• TV Guide's Jan. 17 issue (no link) has January Jones' New Year's resolutions for Betty, including "Be nice to her kids."

• Retro New Year's Eve party ideas abound. This one is from CBS News.

Are there any plans to update the Season 3 music list? I'm specifically interested in the piece that plays at the end of "The Color Blue."

Also, will Season 3 be released in CD, and if so has a date been set yet?

As always I enjoy all the links and voraciously read all Mad Men info, but to Newsweek magazine, there is no living way by anyone's stretch of the imagination that Breaking Bad even belongs in the same catagory with M!ad Men. Really!

Mad Men is one of the best shows ever produced for Television and with all these prices, nominations and mentions the show will be around for a while. Maybe this is one of the shows my teenage kids watch in a couple of years and we can talk about an episode while we have dinner together.
