What You're Saying... About Jon Hamm's Beard

mad-men-new-mugs.jpg

AMCtv.com awards the Talk forum and blog commenters quoted in our weekly "What You're Saying" post with prizes like a Mad Men mug or a Mad Men snow globe (limit one per person).

This week, congratulations abounded for Mad Men's third straight Golden Globe win for Best Series (Drama), but there was also some chatter about Jon Hamm's off-season look. Here's what you were saying:

• "...for anyone who thought Jon Hamm couldn't get better looking, NICE BEARD at the ceremony! Nice to see most of the cast, and how different they look not in character." -- luv em all

• "I didn't really care for his beard, but I'd have to agree that he's such a great looking guy that he can get away with it." -- noreality

Log onto the Talk forum to join a conversation or start a Mad Men topic of your own. As always, your comments throughout the blog are welcome.

Hey ~ I'll take Jon Hamm anyway I can get him! I love his mug either way! ahem..speaking of mug ~ I'm just sayin.....I would love one!

default userpic

I love Jon Hamm either way! He's has the best-looking 'mug' I've ever seen! Speaking of mugs......I would love one of them for my MADMEN collection! *I already have the limited edition ZIPPO lighter and the 1st 2 seasons on DVD & the 3rd one pre-ordered! PLEASE, OH PLEASE.......I want the MUG!

default userpic

Personally cant get enough of Mr. Hamm. I love his "mug" any which way. Congrats MadMen! Please send me one of those mugs!

user-pic

Not a big fan of furry men, but with Jon it's really what is underneath that counts!

default userpic

I'm normally a big fan of facial hair but I have to admit that I prefer seeing ALL of Hamm....er, him. Beard or no beard, he is still one gorgeous guy!

default userpic

I'm not usually a big fan of facial hair, but on him? Gorgeous! I mean he's Don Draper for Chrissakes! He can swing anything. Yummi-licious!

Beard or no beard - Jon Hamm is the sort of classically handsome that transcends time and style. Similar in attributes to Grace Kelly.

user-pic

A fuzzy-faced Jon? I normally HATE facial hair, but on Jon its a win, win, win. Jon has that "je nais se qua" look and really pulls it off no matter what he dons (no pun intended). And this look morphs well into his character who is slowly experimenting with the other aspects of the 60's transformations. I'm thinking the chic go-getters ala French Wave films.

& how about his comments? The response to the strike was elegantly put; his humility and gratefulness to the other members of the crew, in total, were so refreshing to hear!

the MadMen mugs are super cool and would make me feel oh so chic if I saw that on my desk everyday ... would help me channel my inner MadMen modgirl!

Beard - what beard? Sorry, just mugging for the people!

default userpic

He looks so good...but, why would anyone with a face like his cover it in hair? There must be a story behind that beard.

default userpic

Maybe it is some kind of ploy to create even more intrigue and tension. Whatever it is, beard or not, I'll be watching whenever I can!

default userpic

Jon Hamm is sexy with or without his beard, I'll love whether he has a plethora of facial hair, or not.

Let me leave you with this: Would Don Draper have a beard? I think not.

default userpic

The beard has to go....but he's so hot you wouldnt kick him out of bed for having it :P

Can I please have a mug! I need it to complement the rest of my MadMen desk....I have the most stylish vintage desk in the office. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

default userpic

i've been a big fan of facial hair for years, and think it looks great on jon ~ but i don't think it would go well with his mad men persona. still, he does have one fine "mug" ~ with or without the beard ~ and it's a pleasant new image to fantasize about!

user-pic

Beards are not usually my preference but I'd let that pass for Jon,meow!!

default userpic

Jon's the bomb with the beard. John is the bomb without a beard.. In any event, please please please send me a mug, even with jon hamm's mug on the mug.. he has a great mug..i never win anything and i would love to win this mug to bring to work! I'm a huge fan of Jon Hamm, Mad Men and especially January Jones! heck throw her mug on there too!

I have a feeling he'll shave it for his Saturday Night Live week. It would make it far more difficult to play other characters, including Don Draper, with that beard.

All I know is, it's a shame he's taken, and if his SNL is as funny as his last, it will be a good Saturday night.

user-pic

From what I've read, Jon had to shave SEVERAL times a day during the shooting of the show because his beard grows so dang fast.

If I were Jon, in the off-season I'd take a hiatus from shaving as long as I could, too!

I don't like the way it looks, but hey... I don't have to worry about the beard burn. I'm sure he'll "come clean" in time for the new season.

Props to Jon Hamm for successfully pulling off lumberjack chic. Bold move but major win. Breaking ground for alpine woodsmen everywhere...

Now as I sit here in my flannel and woolen socks all that is missing is a chic mad men mug from which to enjoy a steaming cup of spiced cider as i stare out the window of my cerebral cabin pondering the possibilities of log cabin couture.

What would Don Draper do?

Don Draper Brylcreemed hair - YES, Beard, NO.

user-pic

Thanks, SCFan!

How neat! I had no idea they had giveaways!

Everyone,

Jon Hamm will be hosting SNL this coming Saturday. He was great when he was on last time.

HEY!:

BRING it, Jon... BRING it! Lookin' good no matter what!

I suppose we're all so accustomed to him having that clean-shaven, slicked-back-60's-look, until it's rather, Um, challenging to wrap our minds around him with a totally different look. He looks more approachable, fun, laid-back as opposed to the defensive, secretive D.D.! More 70's-ish! When a man has a full beard, I tend to focus more on eyes, and teeth; it forces one to focus on what the hair accentuates, especially if it's a well-trimmed beard, which I'm sure Hamm has.

Keep it for now -- shave it for later. Flexiblity...

BTW... Vincent just looks like a 14 year old .... with a beard.

Doesn't really suit him, but he appears satisfied with it.

Jon is just looking awesome - with beard or without beard. And what matters most is that he is a good actor and I guess the beard is not a ranking factor for that, right. MadMen rules. - Internetagentur Niedersachsen | Webdesign Aurich

Jon Hamm's beard is back. He revealed some scruffy facial hair at a Livestrong Foundation party Thursday night in LA. Does this mean 'Mad Men' is done filming?

Jon grew a bushy beard in January while the series was on hiatus.

Just over a week ago he was snapped with a clean face promoting Ginault ad.Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie.
