Mad Men Season 3 Interviews - The Crew
Behind every great show is a brilliant crew. Take a look at what the production team behind Mad Men had to say about crafting the series you've come to know so well.
• "I think that generally our camera technique is transparent -- we don't want the audience to feel the camera or know it's there. " -- Christopher Manley (Director of Photography)
• "I try to think like a painter and know where to put the focus." -- Dan Bishop (Production Designer)
• "I wanted the placement of the blood to be just right, so I went down on the floor like Joan would have, and pretended to be cleaning up the blood." -- Janie Bryant (Costume Designer)
• "It's a story point, but for me it was, 'Matt do we have to get the fainting couch?' 'Matt are you sure?'" -- Amy Wells (Set Decorator)
• "I actually had to put a form inside
of her hair just to get it to stand up the right way." -- Lucia Mace (Hair Department Head)
• "Jon's beard grows really quickly -- we'd do scene order based on when he'd need a shadow, we'd tell him to shave at midnight so at 8AM, he would have a shadow when they were filming." -- Lana Horochowski (Makeup Artist Department Head)

@Lucia Mace Was that hairdo something out of a Fellini movie? I keep trying to remember where I have seen that hair do before.
I think everyone in back of the camera and everyone if front of it did a superb job. I love Mad Men. Can't wait for season four.
I think I am so used to the show being excellent that I don't even think about all the planning, thought, research, and just plain hard work that goes into the production. The fact that the crew labors over every little detail is so evident in the end product. I applaud everyone's contributions. Great job!
