Finale was one of the best episode's ever. I am rooting for Don again. Was down on him for his reckless behavior. Now, I like how he's counterpunching. Don will be much better off without the blonde icequeen: Betty. She is so pathetic. Don has a new lease on life, a chance to score a big win with a reconstituted Ad agency and more romance too. I liked Pete's weasally way last nite, and Roger's incessant wisecracking. Brilliant.

Matt Weiner, I’m disgusted. After saying during season two that Jane isn’t a gold-digger, you proceeded to make her appear a shallow child (most viewers assume mercenary, the blogs clearly show), dragging her thru the mud of viewer opinion. You should read this:

http://www.sfbg.com/entry.php?entry_id=7350

I’m a 49 year-old gay man. My older lover (26 yrs) died last year. If I were some media stereotype gold digger I’d be cashing in, instead of (the reality) grieving in modest circumstances. The gay world has it’s own May / Dec stereotypes, but we don’t harp on them as incessantly as the straight world harps on the young old digger stereotype. (If my niece met a nice older guy, I’d tell her, “I’m not worried about the relationship, honey, I’m worried about the stigma.”)

Thanks—not really—for adding to that cant.

i meant: The gay world has it’s own May / Dec stereotypes, but we don’t harp on them as incessantly as the straight world harps on the young *gold* digger stereotype.

(Maybe "old-digger" is a Freudian slip, for digging your older partner ;) I think of the rogue-ish twinkle in my partner's eyes, that i'll never see again, with what feels like eternal sadness...

I don't think that it"s fair to call Betty an ice queen. When you look at all the shit Don has put her through. Knowing that you're not enough for your husband, putting on a "happy" face etc. can wear down your soul. Betty has just let the world around her wear her down and I feel sorry for her. There are moments in the show when she lets down her guard and you can tell that she's a loving, caring person. Unfortuneately she has just spent so much time burying her feelings for the sake of her family that she has disappeared. I hope that her character starts to come alive again, if she finds happiness with Henry. And I hope that Don finds happiness too.

Best Episode Yet! What do we do until next season?
PS. I wish they'd bring Sal back.

Can we all urge People Magazine to select Jon Hamm for the Sexiest Man Alive? His acting was simply mind blowing this season!!

And the genuis Matt Weiner rocks!! his whole team of Writers and Actors deserve huge applause for the great work and not to mention the crew in other departments. They better win the awards for all Categories at the Golden Globes, SAG etc.

Fantastic ending! Im counting the days till the next season and also hope they bring Sal back, they simply have to. I have the idea that they will get more into politics next season...Don´s pitch to peggy was very moving

Sexiest Man Alive: YES vote from me!!

This was the best episode of all. The possibilities for the future are endless with the new firm in place, and a new era awakening, i.e. "Get me coffee"--- "NO"). Don finally got the weight off with Betty going off with that creepy Henry. I was saddened about Don's children. As a child of divorce in 1960, the stigma, the gossip, the ostracism, was palpable. It was a "new" thing, I guess, but for us kids it was hell. That might be something Don's children may have to contend with in the next seasons, if they appear again in a meaningful way.

I hope things don't just fall into Don's lap. He has gone along his merry way destroying Betty and the children and nothing happens to him. Why, he even gets a new start without responsibities, all his money intact, free as a bird. While others have to deal with the fallout he has caused. Can't anyone wish happiness for Betty? Really, she is the victim of Don's narcissism. I hope Henry Francis proves to really love her and care about her. Something that hasn't happened so far as I can tell in her whole life. I hope he isn't a cad like Don.

I agree with some of the others-- Betty has been through hell with Don and she definitely shows moments of love and tenderness. She is a product of the era and I find her character fascinating, with Don and without Don. I always look forward to seeing what she will do next. And yes, amazing episode, amazing finale, amazing show...period.

Totally agree....D' BEST EPISODE EVER!!!! I'm glad Joan is back!!!! She is very good in facilitating....to golfergurl, in regards to Sal bringing back...it may not possible due to Lucky Strike $24M account. I hope this will be their ticket for Best Drama and M/F Actors Awards.

I think I perceive Betty and her chances for happiness differently. In my mind her unhappiness, though not helped by Don, isn't because of Don. She is just bored. Her life is so meaningless, the way she spends her time is so meaningless, she is so underutilized as a contributor to something larger. The only role she really has that could be anything meaningful is as a mother, but all she ever does in that role is tell her kids to go upstairs. Or pawn them off on Carla, who seems to be much better an adult role model for them anyway.

On a separate note, I just hope we see more of Rachel Menken and Bobbi Barret in the future. I realize Don may be done with them, but I loved the way they both thought and talked and dressed. That scene where Bobbi was preaching to Peggy was awesome.

Betty should have boxed up all the cash Don had stashed in his locked drawer of horrors. Why not?
