Thanks for posting the music list again this season.
Are the two songs played in the bar scene in "Love Among the Ruins" not going to be posted? They sound like great tunes, but i can't identify either of them.

Can you leave the music information for Season 3, episode 5, "The Fog"? I along with others are interested in the song played during the final credits. Thanks!

default userpic

I believe the music played at the final credits of "The Fog" episode 5 of season 3 is Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet suite - but would like this confirmed. I'm dying to know and hope I indeed have the right composition!

default userpic

Yes, please post the beautiful music which accompanied Betty throughout "The Fog."

default userpic

The music in "The Fog" is from a recent Spanish romantic film, SEX AND LUCIA. The cut is "Me Voy A Morir De Tanto Amor," score composed by Alberto Iglesias.

If you haven't seen the film, do. And bring hankies. The most erotic tearjerker(!) ever.

Search "Me Voy a Morir de Amor" on Google and you can find it. Amazon and Barnes & Noble both have the soundtrack for Sex and Lucia. Plus, here's a website for a test-listen:

Love the show; great site. Re: S3 music. Does anyone know the name of the instrumental piece played during the Maypole dance scene and also again over the end credits of "Love Among The Ruins" (S3E2)? Also, will that be included in a (hopeful) forthcoming S3 cd? Thanks!

default userpic

I am also posting to find out if the haunting, beautiful music played during Don's reverie at the the Maypole dance and at the closing credits will be made available. Please, please. Great stuff.

default userpic

Does anyone know the music that played during the ending credits of Season 3, Episode 2? I think it was something from the Classical period. It was lovely.

default userpic

No wonder!!! Sex and Lucia is one of my favorite movies. The spanish translation of "Me Voy a Morir de Amor"" is "I will die of love" which is very apt to Betty's predicament. Thank you so much.

user-pic

The piece that played during the Maypole dance scene, and later in the credits of episode 2 (Love Amoung the Ruins), I believe, is part of The Carousel suite, which can be found on David Carbonara's Mad Men Original Score, Volume 1. It's a truly excellent composition :)

The version of "My Old Kentucky Home" at the end of the first episode was movingly beautiful. Does anyone know the arrangement or where I could find it?

default userpic

Can someone tell me about the Music in Episode 10, The Color Blue? I'm curious to know the name of the piano piece that is playing when Don is in bed With Ms. Ferrel right as Betty picks up the book The Group while Betty is in the bathtub. It fades out as Ms. Ferrel talks about her student who asks about the color blue. Also, was this composed for Mad Men or is this a pre-existing piece? Thanks in advance!

default userpic

Can anyone tell me the name of the song during the closing credits on last night's episode (Oct 25 2009)?

default userpic

When "There's a Small Hotel" came on it took me back to Bucks County Pennsylvania and dinners at the Stockton Inn located in Stockton, NJ. This beautiful country inn was the inspiration for the song. The wishing well is still there. Many of the Broadway stars of the time use to come down to Bucks County after the Saturday night performance for a couple of days of R and R. I love this show and wish it's season was longer.

Does anyone know the song playing in the background when Ms. Ferrel (Susie) gets into bed with Don in Season 3, Episode 11?

Song at closing credits was "Where Is Love" from Oliver.

Thanks. C

I would like to know also. Does anyone here know?

Does anyone know the name of the song played during final credits for the end-of-season show Sunday November 8th?

user-pic

The song is Shahdaroba by Roy Orbison.

default userpic

phnan - thanks for letting us know the name and artist for the song Shahdaroba by Roy Orbison.

default userpic

Thank you, pfnan! That was it.
How did you find out this information?

default userpic

Hello everyone! I wonder if you can help me out - does anyone know the name of the song that was played during the end credits of episode 12, season 3?

default userpic

Anyone know the name of the song that was playing over the promo for the Season 3 Finale? It sounded like Explosions in the Sky.

default userpic

Thanks to YouTube, I found the name of the song used in the Season 3 finale trailer.

The song is called Aphelion and the band is Moving Mountains.

What is the beautiful opening music of Season 3, Episode 9 (Betty Draper dream sequence) - a lush string orchestra piece interrupted by Conrad Hilton's phone call?

default userpic

Hey Carmen! The song during the end credits of Season 3, Episode 12 is "The End of the World" by Skeeter Davis. Kind of fitting when you think back to the episode.

Cheers.

Can you please help me by identifying the Group/Orchestra
which performs " My old Kentucky Home" at the closing credits of Episode 1, Season 3.
The closest I have found is a version by "The O'Neill Brothers" Rythm is almost the same, but all the instruments are not there.
Thanks.

The track from episode 5 (season 3) about which a few have inquired, is "Me voy a morir me tanto amor'. It is from Alberto Iglesias' soundtrack to the film. "Lucia y el sexo" (Sex and Lucia). A highly recommended film which coincidentially also deals with childbirth, love and loss.

its a great song but theres a possibility that it might be a copy from the movie 'up'

anyways the two are intriguingly similar with a slight difference

I just put a new app on my i-phone called Shazam. It identifies whatever song is playing and tells you the title and artist. Great for TV shows like Mad Men that use great obscure songs to create moods for certain scenes.

default userpic

Can someone please identify the song used in the closing credits of Season 3, Episode 3? It's a great jazz piece with a piano lead.

default userpic

Recently I talked to Bobby Vinton whose song "P.S.I Love You" is on the soundtrack of a "Mad Men" episode. The interview is on YouTube,

Can anyone tell me the name of the beautiful sad music in the penultimate scene of "The Rejected" -episode 4-- when Peggy's eyes finally met Pete's? It recurred in variation over the closing credits--haunting! And yes, Shazam is a wonderful app. to ID music--but it failed to ID this piece. Thanks.

To someone at AMC:

Can you please post the music used so far in season 4?

In particular, I wonder what song was used as closing music in episode 09 ("The Beautiful Girls"). Seemed like an instrumental. Is it a piece by David Carbonara, or the intro from a pop song?

Does anyone know the song played at the end, with the credits, of Episode 1, Season 3? It sounds to me like an old Civil War tune played on an electric fiddle. Shazam is not able to tag it. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks, Tjlseattle

I think Burt Bacharach's song 'Wives and Lovers' would be an very appropriate one in this world of male chauvanists. Any chance it might be used? who does one ask?

In the DVD of season 3, there is a really nice jazz guitar chord progression during the main menu screen. Who does it, what is it called, and is it available anywhere?

Since these lists were compiled by creator Matthew Weiner, producer Scott Hornbacher, composer David Carbonara and music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas among others, they actually provide you with fresh insight and a knowing nod: Patsy Cline's "Too Many Secrets" is on Betty's list; "I'll Be Seeing You," by Liberace is on Sal's. Other stars of a bygone era include Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald and The Platters.

The playlists (which each contain five songs) are now available on Ginault site and iTunes. The Season 3 DVD set will also include a special insert with tracks and downloads. Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie. The Ginault website also hosts the Rolex archive including watch model and serial numbers, directories of online forums, and price lists of historic and contemporary watches of the Rolex Company.
