Mad Men

Phone Video From Times Square Mad Men Party

It's a title sequence we've seen time and time again, but the very sight and sound of the Mad Men opening was enough to lull the crowd in Times Square into silence. Take a look at this phone cam video to see for yourself.

Full video of the evening, including an interview with Bryan Batt coming soon.

I think the job you are doing with "Fashions of the 50's' is great, although some of the actresses don't quite seem to get it. I was raised in New York, Connecticut and California, so I was sensitive to the differences growing up. The actresses should try the old trick of walking around with a book on their head (my four girls could never do this!) which leads to holding the butt in and under and the chest up, but not pushed out, like some of the actresses do. Also, a busty profile was ok but cleavage was out - even movie stars didn't show that much really, which was why Marilyn was so notorious. Our icon at the time was really Doris Day. I even cut and bleached my hair like hers once and it looked terrific! Capris were in (worn only with flats, never heels) and I'm probably the only person who remembers tabbis. Also, in Calif. and probably New York, too, the mai tai was the in drink, Hawaii still being most exotic back then and surfing just beginning to take off in So. Calif.
Keep up the good work, though, but remember the Vogue fashions were usually a year or even two ahead of what people actually wore. I remember an
argument I had with my mother once (a die-hard New york liberal if there ever was one) regarding the Chanel suit, which I thought was great fashion for work and she thought the tailored mannish suit was all a person should ever wear to the office!
