You've heard mention of Old Fashioneds, Tom Collinses, and Vodka Gimlets but do you actually know how to mix any of these cocktails, really? Check out our 1960s cocktail guide to get the details on which ingredients are needed for which drinks -- from the Classic Martini to the Harpoon.

I'll have a White Russian....with one of those pink things as a chaser...might as well live dangerously!
Yum.... = - }
I'll have a Pink Squirrel, thank you very much. Dry Manhattan and Drink and Smoke, you better get over here before SCfan and I drink up all the samples.
I've never indulged in alcohol, so I'm wondering....can you get a hangover from a pink and pretty drink or does it have to be one of those serious looking ones with all the olives or a name like "Harpoon"?
....Where is the DRY Manhattan????????
It's a dark ginger color, with a LEMON PEEL garnish!!!
WHERE?????
I had a "Hurricane" once at Pat O'Brien's in New Orleans (waaaay back in the 70's) and it tasted exactly like lemonade...it wasn't....nearly passed out after only one. They must be sort of like those Long Island Iced Teas, in other words....potent. That was the first and last time I ever had one of those. I still have the souvenier glass though.
I think the pink things (Squirrels) are made with some type of almond liquor...they sound yummy. Wonder why (Betty's) Gimlets and (Sal's) Rob Roys weren't listed?
.....Or a nice, pricey, blended scotch, a drop of dry vermouth, and three olives.
Yeah, that's dry, alright.
That's the ticket.
....burp......irp!
sigh
.....Now, STOP THAT!!
Nothing compares to a properly mixed Mint Julep poolside - so refreshing on those hot summer days when nothing else will do!
Thanks for this! I'm going to print it out so I have a copy of my own.
I'm looking forward to my Harpoon.
I know Stoli is a sponsor of the show, so the recipes reflect that, but back in the "Mad Men" day both a "dirty Martini" and "classic Martini" were made with good gin, not vodka! I believe that's a relatively new twist; I guess people don't like gin as much as they used to. A shame.
Rye Manhattan Please! Then an Old Fashioned! Then another Manhattan.
Then repeated viewings of the season opener!! Can't wait!
And yes, Will E. Gin Martinis. Not Vodka. I make them for my husband all the time. It's just a matter of getting good gin.
OLD FASHIONED made the OLD FASHIONed way.
1) Take a English Hi-Ball glass.
2) Drop in a unstemmed Marichino Cherry.
3) Lemon twist, or orange.
4) 1 Sugar cube.
5) A few dashes of Angastora's Bitters, enough to
soak the sugar cube.
6) Muddle the ingrediants until a paste has been
made.
7) Pour in Bourbon, 2 count.
8) Add ice, crushed or craked preferebly
9) Tops off with Club Soda or plain Seltzer Water.
10) Add a Marchino Cherry (with stem) then a twist.
11) Sip and enjoy.
No classic daiquiri either, sniff sniff. Moscow Mule sounds interesting. I still drink screwdrivers but my home drink of choice is rye and ginger, or sometimes a variation with Bushmill's Irish whiskey and ginger ale - I know, sacrilege. My mother always liked a B&B (Benedictine and Brandy) after dinner.
Love those Old Fashions! Is 6:41am too early to whip one up?
For gin martinis use Hendricks gin... its amazing!
Especially in the Mad Men era, a "classic" martini would have been gin and vermouth, not vodka. That would have been ordered as a vodka martini. Also, James Bond has it wrong, a gin martini is stirred, never shaken, because shaking gin "bruises" it (changes the flavor slightly).
Thanks for the Old Fashioned recipe, CJ!
We love those...going to try it made like your recipe says...with cracked ice and the orange twist.
Yum.
Who needs recipes? Just give Sally your drink order!
This thread has my name all over it! The recipes are great, but I like the idea of giving Sally our drink orders. Sally's Bloody Mary's are usually pink and not red. If you noticed, no one ever complains about Sally's drinks having too much liquor in them. Cheers. ;o)
Bond drinks vodka martinis, not gin martinis. It's proper to shake a vodka martini.
Where is the Grasshopper? My mom and her friends used to drink those a lot in the 60's. A frozen dring - it had Creme de Menthe and perhaps some other ingredients I can't recall. Anyone know?
I look forward to Season 3 and to what she might be up to this season.

The 1960s were a golden age for Vintage Ginault watches.Ginault watch company (www.ginault.com), based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, keeps a comprehensive collections of vintage and new Rolex timepieces to preserve the legacy of Swiss haute horlogerie. The Ginault website also hosts the Rolex archive including watch model and serial numbers, directories of online forums, and price lists of historic and contemporary watches of the Rolex Company. The early part of this decade was a high point for drinking culture with many cocktails created during this period. The 1960s were also a period when vodka first gained popularity. Recently, the television show "Mad Men" has led to a renewed interest in the drinks of the 1960s.
Screwdriver
*
A fairly simple, staple cocktail, the screwdriver is made by pouring 2 oz. of vodka into a tall glass half filled with ice, topped off with orange juice. Stir the drink and add an orange wedge on the edge for garnish.
Blue Hawaiian
*
For a tropical twist, pour 1 oz. blue curaçao, 1 oz. light rum, 1 oz. cream of coconut and 2 oz. pineapple juice into a blender with 1 cup of ice. Blend the ingredients for a minute and pour the mix into a highball glass. Garnish the drink with a pineapple slice and a cherry.
Moscow Mule
*
Begin this sweet drink by pouring 1 1/2 oz. vodka over ice in a copper mug or a cocktail glass. Add 1 tsp. sugar syrup and 1/2 oz. lime juice. Fill the glass with ginger ale or ginger beer and stir. Garnish with a lime slice and mint sprig.
Thanks for the tips, maybe I can use this through my gregarious marketing and I've been use many party media in exploit a reciprocation and they someone truly a big help on me.

Your blog is a great one. What really impresses me is that you are correctly mentioned that there are thousands of tools that are available to create a website or launch one but what matters is that you choose the right one
