Mad Men

Video - Jon Hamm and John Slattery Answer Fan Questions

mm_slattery_hamm_325x200.jpg

Just in time for the weekend, actors Jon Hamm and John Slattery answer some questions you submitted via the blog.

Want to know how they really feel about working together? Or how much they get to improvise -- including that punch Roger delivered to Don's arm in "Six Month Leave"? How about what they have in common with their characters? Of course you want to know. After all, you asked!

Everyone on the set of Mad Men must have so much fun together. Seeing the actors out of character, the friendship and chemistry between them is so obvious, I think it give the show and the atmosphere of Sterling-Coop a very genuine quality.

.....That was fun. Thank you, AMC and John/Jon.

"Peanut" is the nickname given to Roger Sterling by Bert and his sister, Alice Cooper.

"Peanut Slattery....."

Hilarious!

Thanks for the video but everyone submitted such thoughtful and serious questions, and not a single one of them was answered. If I knew this was going to be treated as a joke, then I wouldn't have bothered to even submit some.

.....jane, that is an interesting commentary. It's a little bit hard to watch people, people.

Feeding on other, people. Peoplllllle.....feeding on other Peoplllllllle........

They're the LUCKIEST PEEEEEPLLLLLLLEEE.....

Oh, sorry.

Got a little carried away.

Jon Hamm was wearing those thin socks that I think someone said they didn't think Don Draper wears. I couldn't tell about he undershirt although my Dad wore the s/s sleeve crew-neck ones like Don wears on the show, and he was a professional so I think they would be correct. I don't mind that they didn't answer my question, but it would have been nice.

This was rather disappointing. When we were asked for questions back in May, there were 61 responses. Take out about 15 comments without questions, and there were still a large number of really good questions. I realize Jon/John couldn't answer all of them, but I think they, the folks who arranged this Q&A, could have done a better job of selecting the questions to be asked.

Agree....

Next time people should just refrain from asking any thought out questions b/c the interviewers are going to ask generic questions that we've already had answered anyway.

They should be more specific as to the type of questions they want us to ask. It would have been nice to say, "this will be a short video segment so just ask quick simple questions for the both of them to answer together."

The video was a lot of fun but the people on the site really dropped the ball on actually using the questions that were asked by the viewers.

Thank you above posters. I feel better knowing I'm not the only person who thought we were a little short-changed considering the number of questions that were asked.

Evidently Jon and John's time was limited and the resulting video was entertaining.

Wonder what "they'll" do with the questions to the other fellows.

.....A lot of the questions posted were very long. Either the questions are too complex or not relevant enough to use.

Maybe they are just looking for very short questions which lead to interesting or humorous "vid bites."

Since this has happened a number of times already (Matt Weiner Q&A, Pts. 1 and 2), maybe we should work on our questions.

Of course, if we all bitch about not getting our specific questions answered, maybe AMC won't even bother with these kind of things at all! I found it fun and amusing. The bites they give us are usually no more than three minutes long; I think it was kind of unrealistic to think they would take on any in-depth questions...

I'm pleased just watching them joke with each other.

I doubt it, but ok.

I just think they could have posted the video without asking the viewers to submit questions. It seemed rather pointless because the questions were so obvious. They're the same type of questions that are asked of any actor on any show in interviews. Seriously if people didn't know Jon and John were friends off camera, they're an idiots and living in caves. I love seeing those two joke around but the process to put this video together was not thought out well.
