Mad Men's Chances Hold Strong a Week Before Emmy Nominations

With less than a week to go until nominations are announced on Thu., Jul. 16, TV pundits are still debating Mad Men's chances for Emmy recognition.

The LA Times' Gold Derby blog says that Mad Men is "a lock" for a nomination in one of the six best drama spots. We like those odds!

TV Guide's Jul. 13 edition (not online, alas) breaks out a list of stars they already consider winners -- Emmy nom or not. January Jones gets some love: "As perfect wife Betty Draper cracked under the strain of an unhappy marriage and unfulfilled life, January Jones rose to the troubling occasion..."

TV Guide also takes a look at the Blu-ray version of Season 2, which is available on Fri., Jul. 14. Says the capsule review: "Matthew Weiner has worked on making Mad Men's art direction and cinematography as compelling as the professional triumphs and personal transgressions of adman Don Draper (Jon Hamm). The payoff is apparent in Men's second-season Blu-ray release."

.....If there is any reason to switch to Blu-ray, it would be this show.

Does that put any additional pressure on the various designers to use only authentic vintage fabrics, pieces, etc?

I guess my question there is, curious if they ever have to fashion a vintage-looking piece from modern materials?
