Banana Republic Mad Men Casting Call Starts Today
Maybe you're a Betty or perhaps a Joan? Whatever the case, today is your first chance to show us as Banana Republic's Casting Call contest is now officially open. That means you can upload photos featuring yourself in high Mad Men style for a chance to win a $1000 gift card and a walk-on role on the show.
All you need to do is visit your local Banana Republic store and pick up a casting call code to register your entry. (While you're there, be sure to pick up a handy style guide on how to dress like your favorite character.) For all the details about entering and uploading your photos, check out the official site: madmencastingcall.amctv.com.
Afterward, don't forget to check back and vote on submissions. Semifinalists will be determined by a public vote with the ultimate winner to be selected by series creator Matthew Weiner. The contest will close on Tue., Aug. 11 at 11:59PM ET, so be sure to get your suits pressed, dresses steamed, and photos online.

I picked mine up yesterday. Now I'm working on my set design!
I'll be looking for you, DD...hope you win....or at least I hope a Maddict wins, whoever he/she may be!
Well, so far I haven't seen anything to make me think any of these people who have posted pictures have ever even seen Mad Men.
Yes, it does indeed look like most just posted a pic they happened to have handy...I thought they were supposed to get their "Mad Men look" on for the photos....only one that really has done that is our own AL...(Joan)...Good Luck, AL!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
where can you see this pic.I would like to see them
To me, these people aren't fans, they are wannabe actors trying for anything. This is not the spirit.
I feel bad for the judges who have to vote.
I found one I voted for.
Me, too, boop (Hidey and Welcome Back, BTW!)
I voted for a Maddict, who happened to coincidentally be one of the few who was photographed dressed and styled "Mad Men style", as the contest specified.
Have these people even seen the show? They have absolutely no concept of Mad Men style.
I am shocked (and secretly delighted) that these people seem so clueless. Headshots and wedding pictures?! Wow.
I did my "photo shoot" today. SO many good options, I have to circulate them on Facebook for help picking. And then I will submit them.
If any Maddicts would like to help, I would welcome it! :) Leave me a comment on my blog - www.taliashewrote.blogspot.com
Power to the Maddicts!!
Whoops! And P.S. I will post myself as "AdGirl" Talia on the contest... scores of 5 stars are welcome... ;)
I will definitely be entering! I had a Mad Men party in May, and happened to be wearing a Banana Republic dress to it as well. It's fate! haha
And I tried to enter the video contest last year but couldn't get through as I was Canadian ... now they've finally opened it up to us fans of the North!

Love your Cary G. avatar, hannah!
Just uploaded my photo. Does anyone know how long it actually takes for them to post it for the contest???
Please vote for MAURA McG! 5 stars for a HUGE fan of the show! http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/922/sort:Photo.score
Okay fellow Maddicts! Here I am! Please vote (5's are welcome) - http://bit.ly/adgal
Here's a link to the other pics... so hard to choose! :) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=95576&id=501158401&l=fc88ecf27a
Tom - 24 hours and Maura, great shot! Hope we both make it to the finals!
Thanks AdGirl! You too!
Being a Pin-Up Artist, I prefer the sexy Pin-Up Shots
which could be the mistresses and/or the girlfriend.
Here is one of my favorites:

Checkout my pic, taken at Lucky 13 bar in SF. I would really enjoy playing a role on the show!http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/2248
I really want to join this contest, but there are no Banana Republics where I live to get the code :(
Will you give my picture five stars to help me indulge my Mad Men fantasy?

Thank you!
I'm a late comer (to the contest, but not to the show or the style!) and need your vote - whaddaya think, 5 STARS?
http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/3339/sort:Photo.score
Have these people ever watched the show???
Hey guys! I entered and this is my entry http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/1786/sort:Photo.created
Would mean a lot if you voted. I put a lot of thought into my entry and a lot of work and was down to the last minute (day before vacation, in the middle of packing)
Entered the contest last year but couldn't be accepted due to my Canadian citizenship. Now they're finally letting us participate! It would be my dream to win this.

Please give me 5 stars. Thanks so much for reading this!
I know a lot of people on these pages are actors or models looking for exposure but I am just an interior designer with an unhealty obsession with the most beautiful (and engaging) show on TV!!! Please take a moment and vote me into having a chance at this!!

Are lots of other people encountering a "broken" site?
I received confirmation that my photo had been approved and posted at 7:30 this morning. I clicked my link and voted successfully. I also voted for my boyfriend. A few minutes later the site was down. Neither I nor my friends and family have been able to vote today. It's very disappointing. Even worse, the message I get states, "Not Found. The requested URL /photos/view/3778 was not found on this server." It looks as if I sent everyone a bunk link. So frustrating. I feel sorry for the admin team troubleshooting the server issue. How do you think this affects the voting poll?
http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/3797
My friend and I put a lot of effort into this shoot, and I finally had it posted early this morning. All day my friends and family members have been telling me the site isn't working, and haven't been able to vote. It's very upsetting, especially to the die-hards that aren't getting a fair chance and are missing out on a full day of votes.
So based on the semi-final public judging, if you're not on the first 3-5 pages, than you are out of luck. Is that how it works? What happens to all the other people who have really great pics, but don't have 1,000 friends?
hmmmm....frustrating. disappointing. we've only been up since Saturday and like so many put a lot of effort into our shoot. White we didn't expect to win, given our late entry, I feel more than a little embarrassed telling friends, family and colleagues to vote or me and then sending them to either a bogus site or a non-existent one.
now that the site's back up, when I tried to vote for myself it said "there was an error saving your vote".
faaaabulous!
"another pitcher of martini's, honey!!!"
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to congratulate my fellow maddicts on some truly inspired photos! You all have done a beautiful job!!
Bravo, and break a leg to each of you ('break a leg' means 'good luck' in the theatre)
Yeah, I think there should have been at least some semblance of a filtering process involved. Last I checked there were 3,000+ pictures to slog through, and who has the time or effort to do that?
But really, I'm sorry, Banana Republic!?? I guess it could have been worse-- The Gap, Target, or Old Navy. I'm wondering why a natural pairing like say, Brooks Brothers, or even Macy's, wasn't the flagship sponsor to this contest.
And by the way, whatever happened to the guy who won the video-contest/walk-on role in Mad Men last year? Anyone know?
Yes, the site is probably overloaded -- one hopes it's not hacking? Friends are telling me that they are unable to access my photo and I could not even cast a vote for my own entry today.
On the very off chance that the bugs have been worked out, please take a moment to cast a vote for my entry: http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/3661. Anyone wanting information about the truly truly talented Stacey Barich who shot this for me, go to 'atomiccheesecakestudios.com' -- she's in Baltimore and well worth the trip!
I think the pairing of Banana Republic and MADMEN is a great choice. Their silhouettes have always felt nostalgic. The clothing is tailored just enough to provide a flattering fit while still being affordable. I can't really speak about the men's clothes but I have been a fan of their dresses for years now and this current collection is chock full of traffic stoppers. I haven’t loved a fall roll out this much since 2003. Macy's? Really? Has anyone purchased a new dress yet? Which one?
http://madmencastingcall.amctv.com/photos/view/3661
I agree. BR is a great choice especially given their new line, womens and mens. The dress and belt that I'm wearing here and in my submitted picture is a brand new BR. Totally in line (and was comfy, too!)
Site still problematic....shame for us later entrants. We never got a chance to catch up to the game! If it does come up throw 5 stars my way! If only for promoting BR AND Madmen!

I just hope the winner actually exudes some MadMen style...there are so many lame head shots and plain photos in the top 20 pages.
The BR women's clothing is nice but the low-waisted skirts are not really period-correct something that sits on the natural waistline really is more flattering to most figures. My husband wasn't very impressed with the jackets but is an admitted wardrobe snob. I personally prefer true vintage: the quality is just not the same in newer garments, and styles are much less uniform. That being said, I do love that more elegant choices are being made available for office wear!

Hi everyone,
My photo link for the contest is not working, and I'm pretty upset about this. I feel that BR should give everyone who voted a fair shake, and since early this morning, no one can vote for my picture-not to mention, I was up until 3am last night waiting for my pic to post, as I never received confirmation from AMC that my pic was posted. I had to do that on my own, and find my own link.
I'm upset, because I put a TON of energy into this, and I just want a fair chance like everyone else. I'm getting email from my friends, telling me that the link to my photo is broken, and so, I'm losing out on votes...I hate to whine, but this isn't a fair contest if we ALL don't get a fair chance.
I agree Belle--it would have been nice if they'd held off on public voting until after all valid entries had been received. You're in the same boat as most of us now, though that's small comfort. Can you post your photo as your avatar, so that we can at least see it here?
I am really sad too about the contest. Everyone should be able to submit a photo, I still haven't been able to submit mine. I hope something will be done to remedy this situation.
Hi Christaltips,
Thanks for the warm welcome! Belle is my pen name, but my real name is LeAnne :-)
I'm glad I'm not alone, about this contest screwiness with the site. I actually feel bad for them-they must be inundated!
I'm trying to figure out how to upload my photo....hold on....
Ok, I'm technically challenged-how do I upload a photo for my avatar?
Listen kids, I worked at Y&R San Francisco (just call me Peggy)and I'm here to tell you that entering the contest is about all anyone of us can hope for...and, by the way, those of you taking pot shots at everyone else's pictures are just securing your positions in the jack ass hall of fame. Maybe if you felt better about your own entries, you wouldn't feel the need to shoot others down - I mean, do you REALLY think the limo is coming to whisk YOU to L.A.? If so, schedule some time with your shrink (or get one). Otherwise, I recommend that you pipe down, mix some martinis and get ready to enjoy the premiere because that is as close as you will get... unless you can figure out how to run into Matt Weiner somewhere, that is. Grow up already!

Sorry, LeAnne: I was offline and didn't see your comment! When you're "Signed In" you should see the option "Edit Profile" in the upper right hand of the page. Click on that, and look for "Userpic" and "Browse" -- you will need to have the photo saved somewhere that you can find it (desktop is always easy). Select the photo filename to upload it. That should work.
I'll hang around to see if this works for you.
Well who knows if I'll ever get my pic up. The site is back up but I have received "error saving your info" messages after submitting. Somehow, the site has managed to save all three emails addresses I attempted and now will no longer accept my emails as valid.
I think the powers-that-be at AMC and BR should fix the bugs and extend the contest another week to give everyone a fair shot.
I finally updated my profile-thanks christa. You rock the house, pretty lady!
I finally updated my profile-thanks christa. You rock the house, pretty lady! I had to jump into my day and get some work done, so I haven't been around for a few hours....sorry to keep you waiting!
WOW, Y&R! That was virulent! I think people were just upset about people posting headshots like it was an acting casting call and not a Mad Men competition. I really appreciate the people who have taken the time to put together a "set" that feels like the early '60's. Maybe it's a bit catty to say "that hair is so 40's and not 60's" but otherwise I think some criticism is valid. And before you go after me, I am professional actress and model who now works in the advertising (marketing and PR end) world.
Anyway, for more conversation about the site issues, check out this thread - http://blogs.amctv.com/mad-men/talk/2009/08/dos-attacks-at.php
Please show some support!

For a limited time- collect all 7 Mad Men 20 ounce beverage cups! and bite into the flame-broiled MADburger at all participating Burger King locations.
Just kidding!
I agree with Peggy, AdGal, what goes around comes around. my question is, what difference does it make if you are a professional clown? This is a contest, not an audition. Pretty sad day when professional actors use this as a platform to get discovered! pretty pathetic actually. put your so-called expertise (or bad judgements) aside and have some FUN.
Right you are Madhattan and AdGal - I was virulent and I am sorry. You'd think I'd have better things to do than to jump on fellow Maddicts...maybe I'm just upset b/c I won't be making the final cut (ouch - that hurt and I said it)...anyway, I hope you all can forgive me for blasting away...the truth is that I love you all - Maddicts forever!
The winner will most certainly be white, so I guess I should not waste my time. Sigh.
Y&RSanFranciscoGirl,
Believe me, be thankful you did not "make the cut." Have you seen the "finalists?" I yi-yi....
RE: "maybe I'm just upset b/c I won't be making the final cut (ouch - that hurt and I said it)"
hey, "A better day is hours away" - seriously, are you on the Banana Republic payroll? Did they hire you to "blog" their brand?
ericcooley,
HA! No, I'm not a Banana Republic rep. I live in the Midwest, which tends to limit my clothing options to larger chains. Not to mention, I am tall, which takes most stores out of the running. Banana carries Tall size options and have cool, well tailored clothes. I'm just a fan, that's all. ;-)
I know it may be hard to believe that someone would say anything positive without having an ulterior motive.
