.....AMC.....Thank you.
About bloody time.
Yippee!!
...excuse me while I play "Happy Days Are Here Again" on my kazoo...(I'll let z and Dry play it on their zippers!)
Weeeeeeeeee....
and yes, AA...it is about bloody time!
.....Sorry, I'm busy doing The Snoopy Dance.....
Fine, the new season is starting in August - great - but we have to wait 'til then for more re-runs and then it's a marathon. Get real, AMC, put the damn show on your schedule at a reasonable hour and start re-running Season 1 and Season 2.
.....z.....I swear to you, either I'm having a déjà vu, or you posted almost exactly that same comment at this time LAST year!
I didn't like that the marathon is on a Monday.....
I'm getting my chip-n-dip ready for the premier party!!! Old fashioned anyone??
Let's not look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. THANK YOU, AMC!!
Yeah, pass that drink over here. It's after 9 am, I can start. Oops, only 8:55, Ok, close enough for
government work.
A season one AND season two marathon would be excellent, but I'll take season two it that's all AMC can come up with. But I have to wonder why on Monday, when there is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday... must be a slow day at the factory.
.....Scheduling the marathon on a Monday does seem like the same old sneaky sabotage. Who's going to watch it then?
And I don't get leaving Season 1 out of it, either. Isn't the point to bring in new viewers who just might stick, benefitting everyone involved?
I sincerely wish the hostilities and sabotage would just cease altogether. A couple of white flags here would be GREAT.
It's a case of "cutting off noses to spite faces" and it would be great if both parties could just get on with the point of all this - success of the show = everybody happy.
With that being said (again), I am grateful for the two minute accommodation. The way things have been going, I didn't even think we'd get that....
.....and for a while there, I was worried I was going to have to change my name to "A**hole Manhattan."
A marathon on a Monday? Yeah, that's going to get new viewers who have Mondays off. I guess AMC is taking the show literally and treating Mad Men like the whore child. Will someone please keep AMC from destroying themselves?
Too late, Drink....the whore child is still digging away at that ol' outhouse hole (and it just keeps getting deeper and deeper)....
.....Oy!
All of this complaining makes me want to have a coctail! I'm just happy that there's finally a date! The delay in announcing it is my only complaint because I have a party to plan! Personally I think that anyone who hasn't tried to see season 1 and 2 by August probably just doesn't get it. I know a lot of people who found it even online and are professed Maddicts without even having cable or a Dish. Trust me this show has a cult following.
.....Have a cocktail, concurrent with thoroughly and completely reading nine-plus months of forum history behind the "complaining." Every comment, along with every whit of sneaky subtext, dysfunction and abuse.
The fact is, sometimes in life we are forced to default to methods which are nowhere near our first choice.
There are times, and more than one person on here would concur, that abuse in kind is the only really effective weapon for fighting abuse on the offense.
Crude and horror-inducing, but effective.
Dry...so true!
But, as I recall...we tried (OH how we tried!) to deflect the missiles with humor (lame at times but well-intentioned at ALL times)...don't know how effective it was...but...seemed like a good idea at the time!
Now ~~ where's that tray of Old Fashioneds?
Pass these around...we could all use a nightcap...
....Guzzle....swig.....slurp
A lot of people are waiting for Mad Men.
Don't want to wish away summer, but I can hardly wait! This will be an asti and lobster tail event! Lucky me, I don't work Mondays! During the season, I usually watch the new show on a Monday morning at 10. Hope they do that again this season.
I have to repeat what 'zerelda' and 'Drink&Smoke' wrote. AMC- please pay attention! May we please have reruns daily?

.....The thing that bothers me the most about the past few months is the dedicated virulence, hostility and tenacious commitment to the entropy campaign.
There is some real rage and a grudge there, against many on here, but I don't think it's necessarily because of us, or even the show. I get the impression it's always been there.....
.....just sayin'.....
.....Oh, and tink.....
Did you notice in that one article I posted recently, wherein Matt mentions toward the end of the interview something about possibly taking the series to another network when the S:3 and S:4 contract is up?
Yikes.....
Yes, Dry...some folks just want to upset the apple cart and make others miserable...gives 'em their jollies, so to speak. I guess they need to feel important SOME way!
And let's face it, when Clayton and/or whoever was ultimately in charge of policing this site (yeah, right--like AMC and Co. EVER cared about all us Maddicts who'd attempted to trod the straight and narrow!) abandoned us to the wolves, it was a free for all...in hindsight, I wish I'd had the sense to just lurk, which I've already posted about ad nauseum ~~ but at the time (famous last words!) I felt the need to defend the forum....yes, that's how I felt about it, for some crazy reason...who knows what mental processes take control when one is riled (me anyway) ~~ and, of course, that is what the wolves (for lack of a better word!) counted on. They knew me so well, and used me (and others) so ill! I'm still embarassed about it...but can't change the past....just learn from it, which I have.
I'll never understand how it's fun to upset people on purpose, but, hell I'm just a little Okie gal stumbling my way through the wilderness...
How'd we get back on all that? oh yeah...desperation in the realization that we have two more months to go....our minds wander....doesn't take much, either.
embarrassed, I mean...can't spell sometimes!
.....You lurking quietly is as unlikely as me lurking quietly! Hilarious!
Don't be embarrassed at being duped, just be more aware of what the internet is capable of, and put the blame where it belongs.
Peggy said to Pete, "Just tell the truth and don't worry about the outcome. People respect that."
And I don't get it either.....other than the animosity between various negotiating parties, and that someone who was getting paid a lot of money to be a really bad kid may have been getting "permission" from higher-ups.
It takes a great deal of energy to generate that much negativity and duplicity, and maintain it. The multiple "personalities" alone.....!!!
This is uninformed, obviously, but from what I can tell, I still believe that Clayton is a gentleman, and a nice guy, too. It's my suspicion that what happened here is not his fault, and I don't think he had any control over it. It was nice that he came on there, used his own name, and acted like a human being.
If I'm not mistaken, Clayton's been spending time over at the Breaking Bad forum and Sci Fi Scanner or whatever, among other things.
And anyway, the job of complaining in a more blunt, (and effective) way kind of DOES fall to the fans..... being "nice" doesn't always work, as you can see by how long it's gone on.....and ON and ON and ON......
Matt, who doesn't believe in generating bad karma in the industry, can't do it. He has to take the high road.
The Lipp sisters really can't do it. They are professional bloggers, and are also connected to the entertainment industry. Plus they don't hang out here, and may or may not be aware of what we have been subjected to.
Anyone in criticism of us in this struggle really can't talk unless they've walked a mile or two in our shoes.
With that being said, I was over there (which I do rarely) a week or so ago, and noticed a bunch of "Wanted: Dead or Alive" posters plastered all over. It struck me that it might be time to ditch the venom for the sake of the other Maddicts, and that it had at least partly done its job.
With all of THAT being said, have you noticed in the past year the enormous expansion of AMC's various news and fan sites? I have to hand it to them that you could spend all day crawling around the excellent pieces here, and probably still not get through it all.
They are covering entertainment across the board, appear to be gaining an excellent staff of writers, and it is impressive to watch that rapid growth in real time.
Now, about the "human being" part.....
....me? lurking quietly? I don't know what came over me to post that..... hmmmmmmmm
I really DO need a drink, Dry!
What'll everyone have?
Same ol' OF for me....
Just to clarify...I didn't mean Clayton wasn't a gentleman...I just meant that with the way he used to chime in (ages ago) and post right along with us quite often, and then the glaring absence ~~ after we'd gotten used to him ~~ just kind of hit at the very wrong time! It was almost as if the trolls "sensed" we were without protection or something...OR had been lulled into a false sense of security...
It just felt like we were suddenly on our own is all...he was a comforting presence...you do know that, Clayton, don't you?
I realize you had no control over the unpleasantness we had. You are assigned places and those are the places you have to be. I understand completely. I, too, have noticed you over on the Sci Fi and BB areas....that's our loss.
As for the "venom", Dry...I don't really recall you're ever being venomous...sharp and to the point, yes...but never venomous, that I can remember anyway. That's why I didn't understand a few Maddicts' comments a while back about being witness to the "screaming matches" on here, which they are completely entitled to their opinion, if they remember it that way...I just remember it as being a one-sided screaming "match"....us being screamed AT....I don't remember any of us screaming BACK....just defending our forum and points of view, however intensely...and....God Bless It....our wonderful Off-Topic-Itis...let's be sure we never give THAT up!
heeeeeee
.....I miss him too. He's probably very relieved to be out of the middle of the fracas.
And, no, I was and am terrible (and you are being kind), but the thundering herds that are NOT stampeding over to lend their support left a giant void in the one place there shouldn't be one.
It seemed like someone should tell the truth and also not be sweeping the atrocities under the rug, in true "dysfunctional family" fashion.
You said: It was almost as if the trolls "sensed" we were without protection or something...OR had been lulled into a false sense of security...
That's very true, and I'm glad you said that. I thought it was my imagination. You may have noticed how predatory and opportunistic human nature can be.
I don't remember comments about screaming, can you refresh me?
I just remember the start of all this was the horrible, foul-mouthed brawling going on near the end of Season 2, and being totally appalled they would not only allow that, but seemed to be both propagating and enjoying it!
You know the rest.
It's nice to see they are finally arranging and applying the forum features logically so they function in the best interest of the forum, not the covert deviant agenda of one or two ersatz professional individuals.
I forget which Maddict posted about there being a screaming match on the forum a while ago...and, as I said up there, that Maddict is entitled to his/her opinion, but, I still say that on our end of the deal, we tried to be adult and, for the most part, I think we were. For my own part, I will say that I began by trying to humor the invaders, and ended up in quicksand before I knew it...by then it was too late and I just kind of flailed around hoping they'd leave ~~ or someone would stick a limb over for me to grab! ~~ since there were no arrests being made by TPTB....
I'm not sure I know who you are referring to as the "thundering herds".....
....SCfan.....I know.....
Me too.....
....Them'z that lurks, but duz knot organaaaze....
Lamb chops, anyone??
Uh...Dry...are you referring to the townfolk in "High Noon" who ran out of their "fraidy holes" after all the danger was past? (meaning when Frank Miller and his gang were safely eliminated?)
Just wonderin'.....
.....No, just being a generic jerk, but your version is very good.
.....Did you get the lamb chops thing?
(In case you didn't, we are the lambs............heh?)
I think I better stop posting along that particular vein while I'm ahead....or behind...don't want to stir anything up...everyone has their own reasons for whatever...yes, I got the lamb chops thing...
...and, if the shoe fits, and all that sort of thing...
Hey, where are the cocktails? It's about that time, folks....step right up...here are some hot (and mild) wings, Chex party mix, Mixed Nuts (No, I don't mean Dry and me!!) and some good ol' Peter Campbell chip and dip for all.....yum!
....that time stamp is not Central Time...it's 5:03 here...Happy Hour for sure.
.....Ya big yella-belly!!
I've already turned over a new leaf. Or square of toilet paper.....can't totally tell yet.
And, "oh no.....not THAT problem again....."
And who you calling a mutt nut?
I'm pure-bred Utz-n-Nutz, all the way.
Hee!
.....Baaahhh!!
looking forward to this with bated breath...that smells vaguely of scotch
.....We, too, jon don.....!
Cheers!
....and - HLAAHHH - how's my breath??
I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aug 16, Aug 16, Aug 16!!!!!!!!!
CHEERS!!!! I will have my Manhattan ready on August 16th. Although it will be 10P EST my time, it will be Happy Hour anyway.
Amen!
AMC Thank you for such a great show!! I literally only watch Madmen on a regular basis. NEVER NEVER quit on this fantastic show!
I just love Mad Men..can't wait for Season Three...life in the sixties is so intriguing as I was a young girl back in those good ole days. Thank you Matthew and all the cast...you're the best !!
Today is July 20 - and I can't find it on demand anywhere on Brighthouse.... can anyone?
Mad Men is my only guilty pleasure on t v. I have never anticipated a t v show like this before. The 60's are even better the second time around. Thanks, Mr. Weiner. You Rock!
Wow, I'm waiting with anticipation to see Season Three of this fantastic series. Great work so far, AMC... keep it up!
Can't wait!! I love Mad Men so much that I downloaded all the episodes on my iPod...now I've seen every episodes so many times. The funny part is that yesterday, I was rewatching Season 2's finale and I just finally noticed that the msnBetty hooked up with at the bar is also married! What if we see him in Season 3 working as an Account Exec from Putnam?
