It's a great day for America, everybody!
Hallelujah!!!!
"Oh boy Oh Boy!!!"
(jumps up and down and claps -- like Sally when she was told she could go to the officer with Daddy/Don)
Can't wait!!
you know I meant office....
duh
Yep, I'm almost as excited as Bobby was when he peed in the woods during the picnic!
Having just watched the S2 finale over here in the UK, THANK GOODNESS!! AMC could never have left it like that.....
Listen closely....I am playing "Happy Days Are Here Again" on my zipper....for an encore I will be attempting "The Hallelujah Chorus".....just hope my zipper can hold out.
LOL zerelda!! Man I miss Freddie...
I've always wondered how many "takes" it took to capture that scene...surely one of the three (Ken, Jane or Freddie) kept breaking up. I bet it took at least 8 takes....
I miss Freddie, too. I hope he and Violet took a nice cruise after his dry out and he'll be back Season 3.
Pleeeeeaaaase, Matt???!!!
Thank you MW for staying to fight another day.
The start of production for season 3 is indeed a red letter day! It brings me one day closer to the premiere of my favorite, and without a doubt, the best television show ever. I am 52 years old, and believe me, I have never loved a program, its cast, storylines, writers, creater, and everything associated with it the way I adore this show. I DVR all the re-runs of S2 and own S1 and watch them all the time. Please don't let it end. I've never seen anything like it. As for predictions for Season 3, I just write them down and see how close I get. I was right on some and way off on others for S2 so we will see.
Just keep it up, MW, you are my hero!
We've just finished season 2 here in the UK and I think its even better than the first. I'm watching season 1 again on DVD and I'm pacing myself until season 2 comes out here on DVD by which time season 3 will be nearly here! I can't think of a TV show in recent memory that I know I have to watch as much as this one. There are so many shows where after a while I simply don't care what happens to the characters. Mad Men makes TV worth watching again. I hope it goes on and on and on. What will Don Draper do in the 1980s?
This good news may be one of the few things that will make the month of August bearable here in Florida's sultry panhandle.
I can't wait for August! I've just finished re-watching Season One and am half way through Season Two. Thank heaven for DVR!!
Happily I have gotten my husband as Maddicted as I am.
It's hard to imagine though that Don and Betty would be in their 90's now (or dead).
We were laughing this morning that we were Sally and Bobby Draper in 62. What a scream.....I think I remember delivering a few screwdriver's to my parents as well....
Mad Men is spot on when it comes to the moral climate of the time. Can't wait to see what Mr. Weiner brings us this summer. I know it will be worth the wait.
I'm SO bummed! I thought season 3 was going to start in July---now I have to wait until August???!!??
I am crushed.
Mad Men site needs to have a reminder that will automatically send us an email to let us know when and time Mad Men's 3rd Season will start. I already know I will miss it because it's TAKING TOO LONG to restart.
Mad Men should have kept going on continuously with their episodes and then shop for more money on other networks or here. I know they lost a lot of their following as if I don't see it advertised or be reminded I too will be lost.
One of the most intriguing questions for S3 will be when it is set. We all recall that S2 was set some time (~2 years) after the end of S1, so will MW treat us to another break? The show is so firmly set in the early 1960s, but we might next join Don et al. later in that decade. Perhaps we'll be treated to Don in the era of Viet Nam war protests and hippies? Any guesses?
already on my calender. I love this show.
GREAT news- it's been a few since I've logged back onto this site, but after watching last night, I figured I would go back and see if a 'release' date was available!! LOL on Zelda's (zipper) comment here as well! Ahh, the dog days of August can't arrive fast enough!
I predict season 3 (1964) will jump ahead two years, as did season 2 (1962) from season 1 (1960).
oeh I can't wait. Fantastic news!!!!!
Don has TB and Pete will adopt his and Peggy's baby......you heard it here first everyone
I don't think so since thats what everyone is expecting.pete adopting the baby with his wife
Finally, the news I've been waiting for! I actually worked as a copywriter on Mad Ave during the '60's, so this show is like a home movie of my early career. Every detail jolts memories of those misogynistic, glass ceiling days and reminds me of how far we've come. Holding my breath till August.
Alright then Keana...how about Pete leaving his wife for Peggy?...if she'll have him that is.
I hope Peggy realizes that Pete's a poor excuse for a man and she should be happy that she dodged that bullet. I feel sorry for Pete's wife.
I can't wait to receive the DVDs for season two. I will wait until the night before the beginning of season three (whenever the hell that will be) and watch all the DVDs so that I will be up to speed.
I prefer purchasing DVDs of any program that I truly enjoy, instead of DVR, because of all the extras that come with it.
Zerelda, you crack me up!!!!! I can't get the toon out my head now.
I've read that S3 premiere is on August, 16th...I'm waiting for it to start for months...and now almost 3 more :( ...this is far beyond best TV show ever created!!! All the charachters are so interesting, that's also a huge success, including the brilliant cast and the whole crew..words can't describe excellent "Mad Men"..only Don Draper can ;)
i would pick up S3 right at the hand-holding
kitchen table scene!!!! So much to resolve:
= does bettz have baby
=whats with duck & PP+L
=diamonds on the doorknobs ?
=montana moments for Bert
=all the cliff-hanger love stories
and sooo much more---
keep it in the early 60's,okay?
its about time!
Season 3 - Draper either splits from Sterling Cooper, or he stays and does battle with Duck Phillips for supremacy at the firm. We will also see more of Draper's back story - how he went from used car salesman to Mad Ave. and it has something to do with customized cars and hot rods.
Looking forward to Season 3.
Perhaps Peggy Olson and Pete Campbell will now find their lost child together and get married? - Not!
Perhaps Peggy Holloway will drop her fiancé and team up with Paul Kinsey? - Not!
Perhaps Jane Siegel will get married to Roger Sterling without divorcing him for his money - well maybe not until she gets a kid out of him first!
However, since the show does follow true history, the influence of JFK's assassination should now be looming, since Marilyn Monroe has already passed away in the show. Vietnam as an influence should not be too far away in the show's production as well.
The integration of real life advertisers into the show is a plus, as are the themed decor, costumes, and early 1960's style of the times. This show does this better than anything I have ever seen!
Finally, a huge bravo on the best, and freshest new talents to come to work on any TV network! - Every actor totally nails their lines, and their character's nuances, with lazer sharp precision!
This is definitely a well crafted, and stylized production!
Now if only Jon Hamm could take some acting lesson! : ) - Jon Hamm is the best! - He should stay away from 30 Rock though until he learns to ride a motorcycle the right way!
May I suggest that Don and Betty would NOT be "in their 90s today, or dead? " I was 24 in 1960 and, having been born in 1936, am 73 today. (It's like stepping into a time warp when I watch the show.) Unless I am missing something here, or my math is off, do not fear -- they would still be very much in the swing of things.
I'm SO ready to get "wild in the house" again! CAN'T wait until August 16th's season premiere!! Thanks Matt, for "moving forward" -- cast & crew too!
Very glad to see the third season will begin in August. I have been waiting a long time for new episodes. I can't wait to see what they have going, particularly with the cars, can you imagine -- since the hype for cars was so prevalent in the 60s and 70s you would think this might be a good time to bring in the wonderful ad people at GM or Chrysler as fuel.
Most at SC are sycophants except Don and maybe Joan. What makes Don so special? A few genius comments? What? If SC was an architectural firm, Don would be up to his elbows to exhibit his genius in return for his independence (arriving late, loaded with confidence, lack of worry about anyone eclipsing him.)
I did not intend to sound sarcastic. MM is the best of television! Growing up in the 50's and 60's, this show is more than interesting. I am even more in touch with the situations and how far we have evolved. The appreciation for my own mother starting out in the work force after a long marriage, children, and divorce is heroic in my mind. Thanks MM for reminding me.
