Listen up - The Original Music From Mad Men

Sure, you can sing the theme song in your sleep and have hummed along to the pop tunes that sometimes accompany the closing credits, but the music of Mad Men is so much more than that. From the hauntingly spare track that accompanied Don's Kodak pitch in the Season 1 finale to the catchy bossa nova heard recently in last week's encore presentation of "The New Girl," composer David Carbonara's contributions to the series are practically another cast member. Don't believe us? Check out Mad Men: Original Score, Vol. 1... available for purchase and download.

Mr. Carbonara, you are one talented composer...your music is so fitting to each scene and so very evocative of the time period...wonderful!

Props to AMC for posting a blog showcasing David Carbonara's incredible score ;)

I own all three of the Mad Men albums and I love each and every one to pieces. "Lipstick" is hands down one of my favourite musical cues of all time, Mad Men notwithstanding, and "The Carousel" almost moves me to tears each time I hear it.

One thing I'm sad about, however, is the fact that some of the songs are missing from the score album - for instance, Peter Campbell's theme (used most notably when he's having fun with the rifle in the office in the episode "Red in the Face"), as well as most of the cues from the pilot episode (I absolutely adored the cue used in the establishing Sterling Cooper shot), whereas the Cha-Cha track from "Maidenform" seems to be on both the score album and the season 2 soundtrack album.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I'm dying to see an Original Score, Vol. 2. If it happens, I'll purchase it on the spot ;)
