Talk Forum and Comments - What You're Saying

AMCtv.com awards its Talk Forum and blog commenters quoted in our weekly "What You're Saying" post with prizes like a Mad Men pen or a Mad Men poster (limit one per person).

One of the topics of conversation this week for Maddicts was what Don Draper would be like today, in 2009. Lois Sadler writes, "I think he'd have died in the mid-eighties of a heart attack during sex with his much-younger fourth wife. His kids, grandkids and all of his ex-wives would skip the funeral, but it would be well attended by colleagues past and present. Pulitzer prize-winning author Ken Cosgrove would give the eulogy. A few years later, Sally Draper writes a tell-all book about her legendary father and how her bad childhood turned her into an alcoholic. She's recovering now, thank goodness, because she has re-embraced Christianity with the help of Jim Bakker and his wife Tammy Faye. She becomes disillusioned after Jessica Hahn but pledges to stick by them."

Meanwhile, Polar Bear put together a top-ten prediction list. Highlights include the following: "6. Despite his advanced age, Don is quite computer literate. As a frequent contributor to the Mad Men blog, he goes by the avatar 'Visan'" and "3. His love of automobiles has never waned; the highlight of his week is the group trip to the local Safeway to ride the electric scooter/shopping cart; the only down side is waiting for the 29 year old, 350 pound diabetic welfare mom to give up her ride." Coming in at number one is this: "Don Draper (in his words) - 'the mind and body may be shot but at least I outlived Campbell!'"

Log onto the Talk forum to join in the conversation or to start a Mad Men topic of your own. As always, your comments throughout the blog are also welcome.

Hey Lois and Polar! Yay for you guys!

Polar, are you going to get a lighter (if offered still) or a mug or what? The mugs are cool and keep drinks hot a long time (even though they do say "Fill With Whiskey To This Line" inside about a half inch from the top!)

SCFan, I'm so jealous!! I wanted a mug and got a lighter. I don't smoke. They said they only give out one gift no matter how many times they quote you. They quoted me twice. That mug sounds so clever, enjoy!!!

I've never won (didn't even know that making comments could get me a win). I really want the mug now! If I don't get it is there a place where I can buy one (love the Fill with Whiskey part).

holotta, I got my mug way back there for a deal they had (guess they still do?) here on the site about "Reader of the Month" (not for "What You're Saying" like you won for... this was ages ago. I think they pick posters from all over the site not just the Mad Men section for that forum.

I do love my mug, but, that lighter is a collectors item, too! Enjoy.

Lois, I think maybe that cafepress.com place has the mugs, but not sure. They have the tees and a lot of totes and other MM stuff, though.

I got a 2009 calendar. It's hanging in the secret MM shrine under the basement stairs.

I received a poster. Anybody want to trade?
