Jon Hamm on 30 Rock and Conan O'Brien

Fans of Jon Hamm were treated to appearances of Mad Men's leading man as a guest on the February 4 edition of Late Night with Conan O'Brien as well as on the latest episode of 30 Rock. (Hamm played Tina Fey's latest love interest, the absurdly flawless Dr. Baird.) Perhaps there's more to come with with Dr. Baird on future episodes of 30 Rock? We'll have to wait and see... and hope.

Yep, our man Jon shines on...I think there are to be at least 3 more epis of 30 Rock with his Dr. Baird...hope so!

I agree with Tina Fey, who said that Hamm was the most handsome human being in the planet. On the other hand--in my humble opinion--I get the impression that Hamm is putting himself under pressure to seem funny (like in the Connan o'Brian show), which is totally unnecessary. He is more than fine as he is. He is a classic and does not need to pretend to be "cool." If you are--as I believe Hamm to be--a classic, you'll do better just being yourself, as pleasant and unassuming as he seems to be in real life. Why should everybody be funny? Cool is for today, it's a fad, a pssing thing. Classic is timeless, it transcends the silly chatter of the moment...in my humble opinion.

What? Jon Hamm IS funny! I doubt you saw him do skits on Saturday Night Live. And he was very natural and funny on Conan. Classic is okay but the man has more going on than that, please!

And....on 30Rock he was funny with Tina Fey, the reighning queen of comedy these days, which is a feat in itself. He has proved himself to be multifaceted and we can enjoy him for several more eps on 30Rock until the end of its season.

I hope more Maddicts watch the Conan Obrien episode highlighted above.

I so agree, Jamble, he is as funny (well, maybe not quite...wouldn't be possible!) as he is gorgeous.

(As James Mason) ---- "Say, where are the whores?"

I love the remark Conan read about how handsome Tina F. thought Jon was. So true!

He does almost hurt one's eyes! LOL

From what JH said on Conan, 30 Rock is using Jon to lure viewers...he said they are spacing his epis out over the rest of the season...just talking about his character on some and then he will appear in others....crafty NBC! I never ever watched it and now I can't miss it. oh well...

Of course he can be funny, he is a good actor, he can do anything. What I said, is that it seemed to me that he was--perhaps--forcing himself too much with Conan, given that he looks more like a reserved guy. But, what do I know?? I just don;t see why everybody should strive to be funny in those shows. Shouldn't being pleasant and polite be enough...? That is my HUMBLE opinion, anyway.

Alons, I kinda feel like when people go on talk shows they just have that light banter with the host and the host feels like he needs to bring out the best in them---just for the entertainment value.

So, he finds something that is funny about them or something funny that's happened to them lately and it just puts them at ease to talk about it with the host in a light, chatty way.

I just feel like JH was going along with Conan just to be entertaining and make him look good on his own show.

You're entitled to your opinion, for sure....being pleasant and polite is plenty, I agree, but I think the "formula" is to be chatty, light and funny.

Whatever...no biggie!

.....Alons.....I am with you on this one but, to be fair, it is kind of a nerve-wracking experience for most people. This would not be the first time for that phenomenon to happen on a talk show. Keep in mind also that Jon has been doing a lot of comedy lately, both on and off screen. The story about (I believe?) Jack McBrayer was pretty funny.

However much we put them on a pedestal, these guys (and women) are still just people who may or may not have insecurities. Who wouldn't, in that business!

I wondered if there were not some possibility that all the "handsome hunk" talk about Jon makes him uncomfortable, and perhaps his comedic bent is a way of distancing himself from that.

Or maybe he's just jealous of Slattery. (Kidding.) Seriously, that man is soooo funny. He doesn't even have to say anything, you can see it on his face.

The thing I think I like the most about Conan, as opposed to say, David Letterman, is how hard he tries to make the guests comfortable, and make them laugh and be just plain kind. He fills up the space very well for the most part and all a guest really has to do is sit there and laugh. Letterman has a tendency to let people go down in flames, and it's just bad manners.

Watch.....It's only a matter of time before People Magazine jumps all over this one and makes Jon "Sexiest Man Alive." (Roll eyes.....)

To my eyes, he seems like a pretty nice, normal person, who happens to have been blessed with good looks and smarts.

He's funny.......Funny, smart and great!

You're right, Dry, ol' Dave does have that tendency to kind of take his laughs at guests' expense sometimes.

You never know with him...although he has gotten a bit better since his son was born a few years ago.
But, he still has a long way to go in the hospitality dept.

I like what you said about Conan, too...he goes out of his way to be kind and welcoming.

I wish he was on when Leno's on instead of after.
I like him much better than Jay.

It's refreshing to see him in a different role - less serious and comical.
