Mad Men Takes Best Drama Golden Globe for Second Straight Year

Main_Cast_560x330.jpg

For the second year in a row, Mad Men has won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series (Drama) beating out the competition of Dexter, House, In Treatment and True Blood. With this win, Mad Men is the first back-to-back winner in this Globes category since The X-Files in 1998, and the first cable drama to ever receive back-to-back wins in this category. Joining show creator Matthew Weiner as he accepted the award onstage were cast members Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss.

"I'm genuinely thrilled about this," said Weiner before noting "we missed this party and this is an amazing party," in reference to Mad Men's Golden Globe win last year, which took place in the midst of the Writers Guild strike and therefore was given without an awards show. Weiner thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press saying how "they embraced the show immediately" adding that the award was "for everyone who works on this show. My friends at Lionsgate and AMC, it's been an amazing journey... I love that you guys love the show, it means a lot to us."

Let me be the first Maddict to say......

YAY YAY YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY FOR OUR BELOVED MAD MEN!!!!

I do so wish that January and Jon could have won as well (we didn't get to see him "make the walk" last year even though he did win! boo hoo)

And January was so deserving to win her first GG...oh well....always next year.

Again, sooooo happy it won Best Drama!

I too was disapointed that Jon and January did not (deservedly) win their respective categories. However - it was fantastic to see the show win again for best show. BEST SHOW!!! It is the best show on television - nothing comes close to it. It was fun to see them all dressed up as themselves - they are a good looking bunch of people all of them. I don't know why they weren't spot lighted on the red carpet though - it was mostly pictures of the movie people.

Anyway - congrats!! Here's to season 3 - give Mr. Weiner whatever he wants and let's get on with it already.

Oh yeh - I'm looking forward to the SAG awards in 2 weeks - they have some kind of "group" acting award that Mad Men is up for - it would be fun to see them win that one!

Congratulations! Well earned.

I realize it's all been said before, but I'm in marketing (creative director - marketing firm), and have been at it for nearly 20 years. The insight, the detail, all of the nuances that are portrayed in this quality show are soooooo accurate. The combination of vanity, arrogance and idiosyncrasy that is portrayed in these characters is uncanny. Their consultants must be old dogs of the industry. I know or have known ALL of these people - and I see myself at some point in every episode.

A sad collection of amazing, and driven, and damaged people managing to creating masterpieces every day.

It is truly more than the Best Drama for many of us. I can't say enough.

Well done MM. Can't wait for next season.
