Vanity Fair Calls January Jones a Soul Sister for Hitchcock's Marnie
Those wanting to catch a glimpse of Golden Globe nominee January Jones before the awards ceremony Sunday should check out her four-page spread in the February's issue of Vanity Fair.
Says the magazine, the "most desperate (and desirable) housewife" Betty Draper has emerged as the Hitchcockian blonde of Mad Men -- "Tippi Hedren's soul sister for (Hitchcock's) Marnie." Jones tells Vanity Fair that Betty is as much of a "mystery to her" as anyone else. The VF spread also reminds fans they will get a chance to see a different side of her this spring, in the comedy The Boat That Rocked with Kenneth Branagh, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy and Emma Thompson.

Wowee..what pics...talk about gorgeous...just an absolute total knock-out...she has the most delicate, yet sexy beauty.
If I were JH, I'd be having a hard time being true blue to Jennifer W...not that she's not very beautiful, as well, but let's face it, how could he not at least have been tempted (and maybe given in to temptation!)...he's a man, ain't he? ha
Then again, the lighting, special talent of the photographer, clothes, makeup, etc. can and do purposely flatter their subjects.
But, there is a lot of natural beauty there to begin with. Her lips look just like Barbie's, perfect.
I'm so glad she's getting some "spotlight" time..she deserves it.
Hope she wins her Golden Globe!
January Jones is like Grace Kelly and every Hitchcock female lead rolled into one person. Frankly I think she's a better actress than those other actresses. Sometimes when people are as extraordinarily gorgeous (like January and Jon) their talents are overlooked. It's like you have to be deformed, ugly, or ragged to win an oscar. I think January does a better job with Betty than Kate Winslet did in Revolutionary Road - and no one can shut up about Kate's performance.
I hope January Jones wins a Golden Globe this Sunday - she deserves it. Betty is complex and January made her that way.
Betty reminds me more of Eve Kendall (Eva Marie Saint) from HItchcock's "North by Northwest". Beautiful, cool, smoldering, sexual, but very calculating and deadly. She plays her "hand" close to the chest.
Don's in for a rough ride if he thinks Betty will ever tip her hand to him or anyone, and I think she has a pretty good "stinger" to match. Betty's rage towards Don's past transgressions hasn't all played out - not by a long shot.
