New York Magazine Laments End of Mad Men's Season 2

Hamm-and-Weiner-325x200.jpg"With Mad Men gone and The Shield going soon, quality TV drama is nowhere to be found" -- so says New York Magazine in a recent Approval Matrix.

And what of next season? Lionsgate, in its fiscal second-quarter conference call last week, provided no update on its contract negotiations with Matthew Weiner. But, according to Multichannel News, it did call Mad Men a "hit show that has already demonstrated its long-term worth" and said the drama generated $5 million in revenue from DVD sales during the quarter (and has been digitally downloaded "hundreds of thousands" of times).

In the meantime, Weiner's creation won two Mark Awards, a competition that recognizes outstanding achievement and excellence in marketing from networks, cable companies and suppliers. It was a silver winner in two categories: Program Promotion Tune-In, Campaign and Program Promotion Tune-In, Out of Home.
