Mad Men fans watching Don's descent into Palm Springs wondered on the Talk forum if he had lost his mind. "I can't believe he just cut out on Pete like that, especially considering what Pete knows about him," said Toby. "He took on this new identity to improve his life, and he has just frittered it away." Rozsie countered, "I have to respectfully disagree. I think he's just beginning to really find himself. It's almost the 'dawning of the age of Aquarius'." Pi, however, blames the fans for elevating their expectations of Don: "He's not Spider-man after all," the post began. "He's dishonest enough to assume the identity of a guy who got killed right beside him, yet he's crafty enough to create a world for himself. Seems like a common ID thief who's trying to play it for all its worth."

Meanwhile, Duck's trip off the wagon had commenters wondering whether gin might be his magic elixir: "I loved that we got to see Duck come into his own," said DamagedWomen, "Although I was sad to see his retreat back to alcoholism -- and that it made him better at his job." And while Coupe DeVille looked on the positive side -- "Duck is a leader and has a lot of fortitude to take it on the chin, persist and maneuver his way, however self-serving it may be." -- a_mob_hit predicted a downward spiral: "What a weasel. He'll probably pull a Freddy and commit some insanely stupid alcoholic move."

Two thoughts, one in typical sitcom style it may all be a dream, Don passing out in Palm Springs, and his entire Eurotrash fantasy a dream. He is fantasizing like James Bond, or Batman of having a secret identity Dick Whitman as the non Clark Kent...
Also thoughts about 60's movie Seconds, where mainstream middleaged suburban man becomes Rock Hudson , lives bohemian life in Southern California.....lets see if Don's second life resembles that of Rock Hudson's character in Palm Springs,....
Other thought he shed life as Dick to climb to East Coast ideal, not sees more as Euro Jet setter...

Hi!

I was wondering how long we have to wait until Season 3? This is the first cable show I have followed and feel strange about it ending in October? How come they don't shoot more episodes like the Big Three?

This will be a bummer of a TV season---Grissom is leaving CSI and Don is lost in Palm Springs...!!!
What could possibly be next?
