Live From New York, It's Jon Hamm on Saturday Night Live
Tonight at 11:30PM | 10:30C, Jon Hamm will solidify his megastar status when he hosts NBC's Saturday Night Live. Earlier this week. Hamm spoke with AMCtv.com about the madness involved in getting ready for the late night show: "They've got about 40 or 50 sketches prepared, then we read them all at the table... then we narrow them all down and find a show out of it." Asked about the honor, he responded succinctly, "It's a trip to say the least."
If he's looking for support, he'll find it in Mad Men co-star Elisabeth Moss who'll be sitting in the audience. Moss (who's starring in the Broadway show Speed-the-Plow just down the street) said, "I'm very excited. I already texted him that I was going to cry."
Given the success of Season 2, the SNL gig is quite a crowning acchievement. As the lyrics of tonight's musical guest Coldplay might put it: "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and all the things you do."

Who will play Peggy?!
Whoever it is, I hope she gets to "wear" her vacuuum cleaner's hose draped artfully over her shoulder during her skit!
Jon Hamm is going to be on SNL? Now I have a reason to watch SNL.
I think Amy Pohler (sp?) would be a good Peggy.
Wonder if John Slattery stayed in NYC after his Regis appearance and will make a surprise showing in one of JH's skits? That might be fun.
Hope the skits will actually be funny for once...haven't watched SNL in years, but hope it is worth sitting through tonight! Bring on "Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute"! just hopin'........
....No WAY are they going to leave the "Relax-a-cisor" unharvested.
peggy played peggy and roger played roger. how cool was that?
Yay! I posted above in the afternoon that I wondered if "Roger" would show up and he did! What was even better was "Peggy" did too! Great that they supported their bud Jon I think.
SCfan,
Is that a picture of you! It's gorgeous!
How great is that about Roger and Peggy being on SNL! I taped it and am going to watch it now. The vacuum..you're funny!
Dry Manhattan,
They better have used the relaxacisor! I'm going to watch it now!
Nora, et al,
I saw the clips this morn from SNL (I fell asleep). I was just waiting for the relaxicisor to come out. Instead that hula hoop was the product.
But then Jon's pitch was priceless!
Sal was played with gusto and verve.
This should be a part of MM history.
Then, Don's dating tips were priceless.
Was able to stay awake thru most of the show last night, and loved Don's tips for picking up women! I couldn't help but think throughout most of the show, however, that they could have done so much more with Jon......most of the show was pretty flat. I nearly jumped out of my chair when J. Slattery walked through that door, though! Well, counting down the hours 'till the season closer tonight. *sigh*
HI-LARIOUS!

the "two a-holes" thing is kind of old, they could've done a spoof of "mad men" without that, but, i still thought it was pretty funny.
i loved the shout-out to the carousel speech with harry running out of the room crying! that was awesome!
They could have done a short skit with Peggy and the Relaxacisor.... and used a little more Joan. [no pun intended!] I wasn't real thrilled with the two 'clients' SNL used for the MM take-off. It seemed forced or something....however, having Roger and Peggy join in was the best. You can tell they are a really tight cast on MM.
The highlight of the show definitely was Jon Hamm playing James Mason in the Vincent Price Halloween Special skit (it was pretty late in the show, so those that switch off after Weekend Update would not have seen it). The impression was spot on. I read somewhere that Hamm has a stand-up comedy background, so maybe he put that to work on SNL.
