Mad Men series creator Matt Weiner and the cast discuss how, in Episode 210: "The Inheritance", Betty is forced to grow up, while Pete and Don do their best to avoid adult responsibilities.

Hold up annak, Betty is a great actress. She got talent, sponk and the looks to hold down her acting career. Plus, Matt Weiner thinks she must be good to bring her back. Plenty of actress can't act and get replaced but Betty character is suppose to be the wife that opens up after what Don did to her so I don't see her as "wretched" I see her as a woman holding down the fort and being blunt about how she feels. Give her alittle credit..!!
I find Betty's character interesting on several levels first she's getting back at Don with meaningless no-strings-attached sex in her childhood home just to lead him on. Secondly I'm curious what's going on with the young Glen Bishop that has dark foreshadowing writen all over it. Finally the way she played Arthur Case on to Sarah Beth was very spiteful and funny.
I have come to love the character of Betty above all of them. Among all the characters she's the one I find most fascinating. I've come to really look forward to her growth as a characters.
The writing is and acting are top notch. I'm afraid to say that until I started watching this show, I had no idea who January Jones was.I searched IMBD for her to know more about her. In fact aside from Peter who I know from Angle, all of the actors are new to me. It helps make the show more refreshing.
I'm buying S1 DVD for a few people as a Christmas gift. I don't want some of my family/friends to miss this beautifully written and acted show
There's a difference between the character Betty and the actor January Jones. I think she's perhaps one of the most classically beautiful actresses since Grace Kelly. Just gorgeous.
The character Betty, as written, is deep, angry, bitter, and subtly nuanced. The Betty as acted by Jones is juvenile and one-dimensional. She is one of the worst actresses, in my opinion, in a major role on serial TV.
It's too bad, because the show is so well done, and there is a lot of great acting. Watch her closely next time. See if her emotions are portrayed realistically. Put yourself in her shoes and see if the way she acts, her body language, her voice -- oh, her voice, especially -- rings true.
While you can probably recite every one of Roger's one-liners (When God closes a door...), how much do you know about John Slattery, the actor delivering those zingers?

you must get rid of Betty!!!!!! her character is wretched. I don't know if it is just because she is a terrible actress but she really must go.
The fact that she has caused you to react so strongly suggests just the opposite.
Put the claws down Annak. You sound like a
jealous female.
