Chicago Sun-Times Credits Mad Men for Obama's Style
"Barack Obama's suits with narrow lapels and Michelle Obama's hair flip could be inspired by Mad Men," an image/wardrobe consultant tells the Chicago Sun-Times which also credits the drama with the "rebirth of the skinny tie, cardigan, pencil skirt and the '60s-style belted dresses that H&M is flaunting this fall." Another fashion influence, Christina Hendricks says (in an eight-page cover spread in the New York Post's Page Six Magazine) that actress Rachel Griffiths recently told her, "I have a bust size like you and I'm always trying to hide it, but I tried on a dress the other day, and I was like, 'I'm gonna do it like Mad Men.'" The Post calls Hendricks the "sexiest woman on TV today," one who's "changing Hollywood's skewed views of females."
New York Magazine praises January Jones in its Approval Matrix for stealing Mad Men. TV Guide also recognizes four of the show's scene-stealers -- Christina Hendricks, Bryan Batt, Colin Hanks and Patrick Fischler -- and interviews Mark Moses, who says, "I think you're going to find the last three shows are terrific." Anticipation for the finale has reached a "gut-roiling fever pitch," according to Entertainment Weekly. "When the credits finally roll, heartbreak is certain."
The New York Observer discusses Don Draper's appeal, quoting one woman, "When our world is so chaotic, we tend to romanticize a time when men were men and women were women. Certainly, Don Draper is not making his wife very happy, but there is a strength to him. A stability." Betty -- who said "Sometimes I feel like I'll float away, if Don isn't holding me down" -- might agree.

No mention of Palin's beehive. What, no love for the largest political ploy in American history?
Sorry. Obamas style is not styled after Mad Men. The Obamas have been trying to fashion themselves to emulate JFK to get elected for 17 months now at least.
I love the narrow ties of Mad Men's men and the entire new 60's look for women! I noticed Bill Maher wearing the narrow ties after this season, but I thought it was because the larger ties overwhelm his small frame.
Go Mad Men!
