Bryan Batt on Martha Stewart; Elisabeth Moss on Broadway

Bryan Batt was in the spotlight, with an appearance on The Martha Stewart Show, where he and Martha made 1960s cocktails like Manhattans and Rob Roys. Batt -- who pronounced the best drama Emmy win "thrilling" -- and Stewart also prepared a 1960s appetizer, rumaki (bacon-wrapped water chestnuts), which Betty Draper served up on her night to remember.
Just three days before Mad Men's season two finale, Elisabeth Moss will make her Broadway debut in David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow. She tells TV Guide that the experience of treading the boards is "incredibly exciting" -- and adds that the season finale is "so good! If I were an audience member I'd be completely satisfied." When asked whether Peggy can remain sweet and still move up the corporate ladder, she responds, "That's what she's figuring out: Does she have to act like the boys [and] is that even possible because they consistently shut her out?"
A woman in the workplace writes in Broadcasting and Cable that Mad Men's "depictions of discrimination are authentic because I've been there... The show gives validation to what I and other women endured; it lets me know that I wasn't crazy and shouldn't have been treated that way by male co-workers and bosses." The author is enamored too of the show's writing that's "witty without being overtly so" and characters that "are not exaggerated, as you find in simple-minded sitcoms."
The New York Post also likes Mad Men, calling it "one of the finest TV shows ever produced" and says it's "in the middle of a peerless second season." It's also a "literary" TV show, "akin to reading a good novel, one that, chapter after chapter, remains true to its story and characters, deftly baring the inner lives of each of them," according to the Post.
