New York Times Celebrates Mad Men Two Weeks in a Row
Project Runway's Tim Gunn is a fan of Mad Men. That's one juicy tidbit from a New York Times article about AMC's "unflinching portrayal of Eisenhower/Kennedy-era sexism, racism, anti-Semitism and Scotch before 5 p.m." Another tidbit? Good news for the show's fans! Matthew Weiner said he'd like the show to air for several more seasons, maybe six.
When Weiner and five of his stars (Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser and John Slattery) were in New York last month for a Peabody Award, Weiner likened the excitement he felt to his wedding day. He's not the only one feeling excited.
In the same article, Hamm allowed that casting him as Don Draper was "a long shot," a gamble that paid off with a Golden Globe award for him. Hendricks for her part noted how the show taps into the pent-up anger of the era it portrays: "I've had women come up to me and say, 'I was a secretary in that office.' And by five minutes, when I'm sitting there talking to them, they're so worked up and angry." As to Kartheiser, he explained some of Mad Men's appeal: "There is a large portion of America that doesn't feel about America the way we did in 1960, and I think we want to know why we don't. We want to know what went wrong."

that is a really nice article... it sounds like the cast members all genuinely like each other!
I like that it stated that "the cast is now going to have to start learning how to act like stars". I hope they do but I hope they all stay on the show and don't cause an early fold up of it (before the "6 or 7 seasons" ( ! ) Matthew W. stated he has in mind-- in the same article) if and when they start opt for film careers instead! Nothing wrong with films (on MM's hiatus) but please don't mess up season after season of MM for all the addicts you've all created!
