We watched this on Charter this weekend, but found out only the first 12 episodes are available. What happened to the season 1 finale? Will it be available soon?
Are you only going to broadcast the second season of Mad Men on Sunday nights? Won't there be an encore broadcast? I can't find it anywhere in the listings.
It's summer and many people don't have access to a television on Sunday.
Feeling just a little frustrated, given all the hype and anticipation of seeing a second season.
I am very upset. Last evening I began watching the first season of Mad Men. However, due to the late hour, I planned on continuing watching it today. The on demand links for season one are no longer listed. Will they be reposted?
Futhermucker!!! I just started watching season 1 and I went to find out what happened to Brooklyn after Niagra Falls came back from his honeymoon and the Season 1 on demand from Cablevision is GONE. What the hell!!!!! Isn't the whole point of on-demand so i can SEEEEEEEE the show when *I* want to??? AMC and Cablevision are EVIL. Why do I pay for cable? I never get to watch tv. When I do...it's POOF, GONE!! Bring it back or I'm cancelling my cable.
I am also a Cablevision/Optimum customer, and I'm having the same problem. Season 1 disappeared from on demand overnight. What is going on? Is this yet another way that my cable company seeks to torture me? Or did AMC take it away?? I was right in the middle of season 1 - this is killing me!! If anyone knows, please post answers. I emailed Cablevision and I'll be sure to post their response when I get it in 60-90 days.
I also started watching Mad Men on Cablevision last night and found it gone today. Please tell them to put it back. They are a rotten company. Perhaps AMC can help us out in some way. Tell them you want to treat customers better than they do.
Ok, I too just got hooked on Mad Men. I watched 3 episodes from Season 1 and was all set to curl up in front of the TV today and plow through the rest. They were gone! I wonder how long it will take someone to respond.
I feel everyone's pain! Comcast on Demand took it away from me, too. I noticed all the episodes were only available until 8-10 so I've been racing against the clock all week since I just got hooked on the show after reading about it in Entertainment magazine.
I ended episode 12 at 11:56pm on 8-10 ready to start the finale. My little girl woke up crying so I went to console her.
I returned at 12:04 am to start the finale and THEY WERE GONE!!
So I did all this staying up late and trying to catch up for season 2 in vain.... missed getting to start the finale by FOUR MINUTES.
Bring season 1 back to On Demand, please!
Same thing happened with Time Warner Cable... I was watching last of the first season episodes, went back to finish up last night...GONE...all gone with the exception of the first 3 episodes of this season. HUGE disappointment.
OMG!!! What in the world happened.
What do they expect us to do? Just skip Season 1 entirely. I agree with everyone here - I got hooked and they pulled the plug right after watching Episode 108. What do we do?
Contact our cable company or AMC?
Signed
MadWoman
CHARTER CABLE also took away season 1. My husband and I got hooked but haven't finished viewing them. Puff-they were GONE!! Please put them back on- we don't want start watching season 2 without finishing season 1. . .
Anything on Verizon FIOS? I was unable to find any Mad Man episodes old or new, on their On Demand channel. Do they carry it?
I too am P*SSED!!!Got sucked in big time-went to knock off a few episodes last night and season one had been yanked, the rug pulled right out from underneath me.Whose call was it,cablevision or AMC?Come on guys have a heart.AMC please post an explanation on this page of your site with more info, and put season one back up on demand.
Sounds like AMC pulled the plug, if all of these different cable companies aren't offering Season 1 anymore. The thing that makes this SO cruel is that AMC still has this page up about watching Season 1 for free! And they never told us that the episodes were going away - at least on Cablevsion that was never evident. I sent AMC an email to complain: amccustomerservice@rainbow-media.com. If you are unhappy too, please let them know!
At least I'm not alone, Directv dropped the on-demand today also. Great show but I don't want to watch Season 2 until I see Season 1, they probable want us to buy the DVD!!! Not a great way to win friends AMC
TimeWarnerCable made it pretty clear that the episodes were only available until 08/10/08 - a buddy of mine was at episode 10; I feel bad but I told him to finish them before Sunday.
PLEASE...put Season 1 of Mad Men back on free on demand. I don't know where Time Warner made it clear that they were yanking it on 8/10/08. Apparently many of us did not know this. The AMC free on-demand site did not give the notice so where else would a viewer find out? It was AMC who informed viewers at the end of the first episode of Season 2 that Season 1 was available on free on demand. At that point they should have said for how long! With 18 Emmy nominations, I decided to start watching Season 2 and was able to watch 8 episodes of Season 1. Since Season 1 is so much better than Season 2 anyway, if AMC or the local cable companies (mine is Cablevision) doesn't put Season 1 back on free demand so potential Mad Men addicts can continue to catch up, I'll just drop the rest of Season 2, watch the Olympics and wait for the new shows to start in Sept.

why does it still say on the top of this page that Season 1 is still available now on free-on demand for cable subscribers if it isn't??
PLEASE put Season 1 back on demand!!!!!
I'm very upset as well. There was not enough press about the fact that these were available on demand and I have been taping Mad Men Season 2 on my DVR and wading through Season 1. I got to episode 3 and then *poof* gone. They aren't even halfway through season 2 yet.
This is not a great move considering how much hype could be built as word got around that people were watching it on demand.
Grrrrr.
My husband and I just began watching Mad Men after reading an article in the paper about it. We have only seen the first two episodes... Please let me know who we need to talk to to get season one back on the air... !!
We are very disappointed. I was on the phone with Brighthouse cable for over a half hour trying to get them to do something!! No more mad men... very sad...
I totally agree, I live in LA and have Time Warner. I had heard so many good things about this show and I just stumbled onto the free episodes a few days ago. I watched the first one and tonight I was getting ready to start the rest and they are gone. While it's nice they have put season two for free on demand it doesn't really help those of us who haven't finished season one and there is no way I am going to purchase the DVD.
I don't understand the logic of putting Seaon 2 on free on-demand when one can watch, Tivo, DVR or record it. It is Season 1 that needs to come back. The decision to yank Season 1 must have been made by unsuccessful Madison Ave ad MAN!!!! You know who you are!
I am livid! What is the point in advertising "On Demand" and not having any way to tell when a program or series is going to
be deleted! AND it is still being advertised as SEASON 1 IS NOW FREE ON DEMAND!. I have Time Warner and I called and they hadn't any answers, only to say, it must be a programming issue with AMC. Really? Who is in charge? Is it
the cable companies? Obviously, we aren't. I hope this string of rants helps and we are heard. PUT IT BACK ON, PLEASE.
I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I watched up to halfway through Ep. 106, and now I'm Draper-deprived. It's probably a ploy to get us to buy the DVD's. AMC, if you're reading this -- PLEASE return Season 1 to On Demand. I hate coming in mid-stream to a show with as much depth as this one.
I called Cablevision last night to find out what happened to Season 1. The rep said they had no control over the On Demand programming for AMC and that AMC must have pulled it.

Dear Viewer,
Thank you for your email. We are very sorry, but Season One of "Mad Men" has been taken off the On Demand menu. Unfortunately, we have only a certain time frame to air these episodes before the licensing period expires. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, Season One of "Mad Men" is available on DVD to rent or purchase. We appreciate your interest in this AMC original. Please tune in on Sunday nights at 10 pm for Season Two episodes.
Sincerely,

DEar AMC Viewer Services,
Well I certainly will not be watching Season 2 on AMC because you yanked Season 1 from On demand without any notification. Brilliant!!!
I too will not be watching season 2 because I hadn't finished season 1 on demand and I certainly will NOT be purchasing the dvd.Great move you a-holes at AMC...licensing agreements my ass-greed and diasterous marketing strategy.F-you...there,I feel better.what's on showtime,HBO etc.?
Ooh, that e-mail from AMC Viewer Services just makes me CRAZY! If the shows were only available for a certain period of time, WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL US THAT?? And it's great that they updated this page to tell us that Season 1 is no longer available on demand, but right below that they still have the helpful info that Season 1 IS available. Really amateurish, AMC. You're killing me. I was just getting into this show, but I can get over it just as quickly.
You guys at AMC are idiots. Your actions have eliminated a lot of viewers for Season 2. How do your advertisers feel about that? You should have told us the schedule up front, so we could have taped all the episodes if we did not have time to watch them. Show some class and give us another chance, and we will give you another chance with Season 2.
People, get a clue...Time Warner on demand tells you exactly which day a show will be removed from on demand. If you don't know how to use your cable box, it's not AMC's fault.
Anyway, season 1 of Mad Men is glorious and if you haven't seen it you need to buy it or rent it. Congratulations AMC and Matthew Weiner. Thank you for broadcasting it.
I would like to politely and respectfully request that Season 1 of MM be made available, if not via On Demand, then through re-broadcast on AMC (either a scheduled block of time or a marathon). I think a marathon will tie in nicely when the date of the Emmy Awards approach.
I did read that there was a drop in viewership since the season 2 premiere episode. Of course I may be wrong, but it appears that a lot of new eyeballs checked out the show, but they did not hang around; Sunday night at 10 is a very competitive slot and it's going to get more competitive in the Fall. Perhaps a week or two before the Emmys, you can marathon (or mini-series) all of the S1 and S2 episodes to date and a good Emmy showing will draw in the curious much like the nominations (and other promotions) did. Another option is to hold off a marathon (or mini-series) until immediately after the Emmys. I think at this point, it is just as much in AMC and MM's best interests to provide more options than buying or renting DVDs.
I have Charter and didn't finish watching before they were removed. I have Netflix and got to see the final four epidodes through that source. Netflix has all of season 1, but in my area, the first four episodes are on a very long wait. The other three dvds are available.
Hey losers at AMC put season 1 back up on On Demand. We know it's u behind this, trying to make $ off DVD sales. That's penny wise pound foolish when people are running a net campaign against ur miserly asses. Put it back up now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the risk of angering folks, I completely understand why season 1 is off on-demand, it was on for the year, and now available for sale...I get that...what I want to know is why THIS season (season 2) isn't available on demand on Verizon FiOS?
Anyone have an answer?
'Gimme a break! All you folks out there whining about Season 1 not being available FREE on demand....Get a life. Go to Blockbuster or Netflix and RENT them like everyone else does. Enough!
I just noticed that the first several episodes of Season 2 are no longer, apparently, available on Comcast Video OnDemand. Does anyone know about this? I was interested in an issue from one of the earlier episodes, perhaps For Those Who Think Young, and find that my episodes available only go back to Maidenform.
Any one have any info?
Ok everyone... I rented season one because I didn't watch it last year.... $3.99 each disc 4 or 5 discs ended up buying it because I really do want to watch it over and over and over. so go buy it...!!!
OK, what is going on? Time Warner doesn't have Mad Men on demand..AMC played season 2 at rotten schedule..couldn't get a chance to watch it. The new season isn't On Demand and it's driving me crazy
If AMC is waiting for me to buy the series on DVD..DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH on this one! I'm so pissed off...
We Love the Show!! Why can't we get in on Demand with Time Warner? We have missed an episode and can't catch up! Not happy about it! You have a loyal following don't turn us off. Bring back the Demand.
Melissa: We have the exact same problem. We missed an episode and they are so entertwined that we don't want to watch the next show without seeing the one we missed. Why would Time Warner not have AMC On Demand in the New York market????
