am a 1st timer to MAD MEN...so far watched 5 episodes...just to be sure of an accurate experience.
as a past Emmy voter, know the HYPE...not impressed by AWARDS.we usually watched ONLY what was PUT UP, by the Producers.
Watching MAD MEN has been like a #2 PENCIL.......SLOWLY BEING PUSHED THRU my RIGHT EYEBALL......
as a Native NEW YAWKER, i'm appalled that this series has NO NY SENSE, TIMMING, ANGST or CREDIBILITY...save ROBERT MORSE....who should be a TECH ADVISOR to this SCHLOCK....
are there NO NY ACTORS in L.A. anymore? or was this done by an English cast?....
and i GUESS this is the 60's??????????
where EVERYONE SMOKED...i'm now watching the 2 leads trying to walk the stairs, elevator out....of course MR.HANDSOME's great insight, would be TO COUGH, when hitting this make-believe set....
when do they all die from lung cancer?
i hope in season 2.........
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
"Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" by Bob Dylan
According to the AMC website, the song is called "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright."
Bob Dylan's own website says the song is called "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" (a slightly different spelling), first released in 1963 on the album "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan."
Wikipedia notes that the song has been covered by artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Cher, and Peter, Paul and Mary. According to Wikipedia, Dylan once introduced the song as "a statement that maybe you can say to make yourself feel better... as if you were talking to yourself" and NPR's Tim Riley described the song as "the last word in a long, embittered argument, a paper-thin consolation sung with spite."

Don't think twice...I have thought twice and I love it! I watched the first season marathon last night and didn't go to sleep until it was over - 13 episodes. This really is very authentic. Being a child of the 50s and 60s (as I am guessing SpacemanSpiff is not) I can say that is the way it was. Maybe they are a bit over the top with the smoking and drinking, but don't kid yourself, people did chain-smoke then and drink their liquor neat. They didn't have the burden of knowing they were killing themselves. Ignorance is bliss!! Anyway, this is also the way women were treated. If I had a dime for every time I was sexually harrassed in my early days on Wall Street, I would have been a millionaire many times over. I caught a few anachronisms here and there (I don't think they had IBM electric typewriters in the late 50s/early 60s, I think they came a bit later - could be mistaken), but all in all it took me back. Also, I am not sure that the office parties were orgies in real-life; don't think so. The writers didn't have to go that far. This series is good enough without. As far as the other crap that passes for good entertainment these days, I'll take this any day. I just hope they create more like this. Bravo!!
Note to pilatesman up there, I think there are plenty of those sorry reality shows (that are NEVER realistic) to keep you entertained without sullying our boards. Get Lost.

Wow, just heard of the show and all the award nominations and then luckily stumbled on the entire season 1 marathon on Sunday. Good thing I had nothing planned that I couldn't postpone. What an experience to watch almost the entire season in one day.
Would love to win the Season 1 Special Edition DVD set to see what I missed when I had to tear myself away from the TV to take phone calls, prepare food, and use the bathroom.
