Talk Forum: What You're Saying
Good news and bad news came out of the DGA and SAG awards this week, and Mad Men fans were on the Talk forum discussing both.
Some celebrated Alan Taylor's win for his direction of the premiere episode; others lamented Jon Hamm's and the ensemble cast's losses to The Sopranos at the SAGs. Honeysuckle offered, "I know for a fact that Mad Men will always stay on top for as long as the show stays on air. Mad Men will get honored whether it is through awards or through us the fans."
Meanwhile, oldsmoker reminisced on the era itself, "I remember those days well. The show has a great look, and everything looks right."
You can catch up on the first season on Sunday nights at 12AM | 11C, then log onto the Talk forum to share your own thoughts.

I have heard rumors of the releasedate od the DVD will be 1 july. Is this true? Vincent Kartheiser mentioned may/june. Why does it take so long? I go nuts over here!
@Mvensson: There has been no announcement as to the release date, so I guess Kartheiser was guessing unless he knows something no one else does, which is unlikely. The DVDs are definitely on their way, but at this point that's about all we know. So sorry for the delay, but hang in there! As soon as I hear anything, you'll all be the first to know.
When will season 2 be starting?

This series is a masterpiece and I am completely mesmerized and addicted.....
There is one glaring oversight though, which bothers me every single week.
In that era, someone coming from such a poor and troubled background, as "upwardly mobile" as Don Draper......
....and as carefully groomed from birth for sophistication and elegance as Betty Draper, would NEVER, EVER have a dumpy little house filled with early American furniture, tatty, gaudy knitted afghans, old-fashioned fixtures, etc.
A couple at that stage in their marriage, and he in his career, would already have an impressive, mid-century modern house filled with chic and elegant furniture.
The series is so detailed, well-crafted and lovingly wrought, it's hard to imagine how this got by them.....
Still, it is exquisite!

One of the few things my wife and I do together. Is a great prelude to what follows in bed. Can't wait for the new season....time to order the complete season 1 off of itunes...
Wooooeeeee--that Don Draper is an aphrodisiac! True! Not to mention Joan! Well, that covers both the men and the women as for "mental preludes"---!!!
Aphrodesiac? (Spelling)
Find yourself someone in the technological "know" arena and there just might be some places out there where the shows have been carefully recorded and squirreled away...I'm not saying that its true...but it just might be - Although it would take a "torrential" storm for me to tell you if I knew.
Hey Grace... remember that Betty is trying NOT to be her mom...and the Drapers are living in the suburbs...I think their home is charming. It is a replica of a country home we had. The creators are spot on.
Mad Men had me when, for the first time, I saw it advertised showing the beginning animation of Don Draper falling from the building with the intriging
music in the background. I knew I had to see that show....and I felt certain that I would really like it. I have not been interested for decades in any tv show.....ONLY movies and talk shows, cable news. This is the first since I was a teenager. When you make the dvds I would like to hear the writers perspectives on the show in the special features. Thanks to everyone involved with this project from top to bottom....ITs FANTASTIC!
