Well it is a good thing that they did or there just might have been a revolution going on. Now give Midge, (Rosemarie DeWitt) more airtime please, and show the shows as they are listed without repeats
I read the news yesterday at IGN & was very glad that you guys get a second season. A show like Mad Men only comes around once in a blue moon. 8-)
I am thrilled. I am applauding (and typing at the same time!) I don't ever remember a show that feels anything like this... it has a dreamy quality, and the writing is so deliberate, it is like watching a play or reading a short story.
And it's a fascinating collection of actors... in addition to great leads, the guys that work in the office are such a real feeling group, and every woman in the show just. rocks. hard.
Whooh hooh!
Bravo ...
More Christina Hendricks!
I am sooo happy the series will be back next year! I love mysteries and surprises. Love the characters! Just one thing- I would like to see more period sets.
Excellent! Fast forward! I wanna see Roger's daughter go nuts over the Beatles and piss him off...then I wanna see Joan go nuts over the Beatles and turn Roger(and me) on.
So glad to hear there is going to be a 2nd season. Of course there was never any doubt in my mind. This show rocks!!!!
Thrilled with the news of the second season; I wonder if the Powers that Be will look at any of these blogs and take our suggestions under consideration for Season Two. Don't see how it could be any more perfect than it already is, but you never know!!!
Awesome news! As long as the high caliber of writing keeps up and they retain this excellent cast, I don't care what happens in the next season! :)
Now I can't wait for 1962! With JFK and Jackie in the White House, things should be very different at Sterling Cooper.
This is one of the truly great television series. I am thrilled it has been renewed for another season, but just sorry that I will have to wait until next year to continue the show!
Seriously, AMC you deserve kudos for such an outstanding drama. Keep up the good work.
I have never in my life watched a tv series until this one! Mad Men is the most awesome, creative and well written show that is beyond it's years! I'm so very happy that it was decided to have season 2 come to life. I will be waiting anxiously for it!
Period... the best show on TV
more midge. more joan. more the other junior ad execs. and how some art department stories!?
Madmen is the best show ever produced. I used to think Deadwood was. I was wrong.
Thanks a million for renewing Mad Men --one of the best shows I've seen in ages. As one who began working in 1960 or so, it really resonates! Janet
Oh please do bring back Midge, otherwise; in what other scenario could we possibly catch Don toking on a joint again? It's good for him to chill every so often. The last time he smoked, he was actually trying to help his son out. It gives him a perceptive view of his past and future. He's too uptight and he needs to be more honest w/his wife that's why she's such a flake.
I clearly agree with all of you. This show is the best new thing that hit tv --among other new tv shows. I deliciously watched every detail of this show. and I'm so overwhelmedof the fact that we'll have to wait a year. i hope the feeling for this show is strong in the air....till it comes back.
Glad to hear the show is being renewed, as if there was doubt. I hope Peggy takes that pony tail down and tries to look a little more like an adult woman next season.
We just posted an annotated map of New York City as seen in 'Mad Men' (though the first nine episodes at least). Check it out:
http://tinyurl.com/2rodla
I've spread the word to all my friends: this is the hottest show going! Jon Hamm is absolutely riveting. The rest of the actors are also tremendously talented. Can't wait another year season 2. Ugh!
Yay! Mad Men is my favorite show. It just feels so real, no sugarcoating. What a great reminder for working women of my generation (early 30s) what our predecessors had to deal with. There's only one problem -- by the end of every episode, my boyfriend is feemin' for a cigarette! Looking forward to the next episode and the next season.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
Thrilled to see this show continue.
We need to see this kind of TV and am glad AMC has renewed.
Yes Indeed. Very well done. Now then, where is the DVD? That's what I want to know. And if by some strange chance you should make the mistake of ever canceling this awsome show- please have the decentcy to have an ending in place-as opposed to just quiting the series. Just a thought. Thanks.
Excellent show. Thanks for the Second Season.
Congratulations to Mathew Weiner, the outstanding actors and writers of Mad Men on the second season. You have made being out of work this Summer a little more bearable. At least I could look forward to Thursday nights. Any advertiser who supports this program will have a lot of brand loyalty. Cheers!
Great news. But AMC isn't promoting this show enough. I haven't seen any of the cast doing promos on late night talk or anything. Has anybody seen these folks promoting the show. AMC has the resources to get the word out. Plus they are messing with the schedule of episodes. Not good. Next season should be somethingto look forward to tho.
For chris m:
Loved the map with the Mad Men locales--how about the first scene in Episode Two where Roger and Mona have dinner with Don and Betty at Toots Schoor's (sp?); afterward on the drive home Don mentioned to Betty that maybe the next step will be the Four Seasons! Also, didn't that big advertising honcho want to meet with Don at the Algonquin Hotel to discuss leaving Sterling Cooper but Don declined--can't think of any more right now. I wonder if Sterling Cooper had any season box seats at Yankee Stadium??
Season 2...thank you AMC. Please release the dvd as soon as possible. Then I can send out some copies to friends who are yet to experience Mad Men. The more converts to the cause, the greater chance of Season 3.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so excited. I'm under 30 and this is by far one of the best TV shows I've seen on TV. The writing is superb, the cast..magical!
I agree with some of the posters above in that...why is there a lack of marketing for the show? I don't see any of the cast members on late-night, no interviews, etc.
And PLEASE after each episode if the next one will not be the following week...let us know. I was baffled when I sat down to watch the next episode this past Thursday (Sept. 20) and saw a re-run!
Don't let us down :) Keep up the excellent work.
I am all at once thrilled and dejected that we have been gifted with a continuation of the series, but have to wait almost a year to get it! That's like buying a new Gameboy for your nine year old and putting it up high on the shelf where he can't reach it but can only long for it! So unfair!
I normally don't watch TV too much, but have watched a few of the new fall network offerings. I found myself unimpressed even with the most critically revered, as I held them up to the standard of MadMen. This show is so much better than anything else on TV. AMC, please invest in promoting this superior show -- there's no good reason why it shouldn't be consistantly winning its timeslot.
The best show on TV!
It is compelling, and so entertaining. One hour goes by so fast...
Get the audience numbers up - MORE CHRISTINA HENDRICKS .
Awesome news. I hope I don't forget about it next summer!
NOTE TO "PASSIONATE FAN BASE" (That is what an AMC VP has called us)
RE: LONE TWISTER & MR. PINK - LACK OF PROMO BY THE MEDIA
I am also puzzled by the lack of attention MADMEN is getting from TV and newspaper. I saw Jon Hamm on Jimmy Kimmel. (I have never watched Kimmel before, made a special point of watching just to see Hamm). I can't believe this is the only notice this show has been given, but is the only one I have heard of.
It is of course up to AMC to promote its shows, but if every poster on this site were to email or call some of the TV & radio talk show programing and express interest in MadMen and its actors, maybe they would take notice. I don't watch TV very much but I think OPRAH and THE VIEW must have lots of daytime viewers and of course there is LETTERMAN and JAY LENO. I have seen only one or two small mentions in the newspaper.
The promos that got my attention and the reason I watched the show in the first place was the emphasis on the fact that it took place in the '60s and talked about the fashions and the decor.
I am sure that there are a great many viewers who would not have an interest in that limited subject.
I expected little more than to be taken back to the time when we purchased our first home and furnished it in what has become known as "MidCenturyModern". And to see again women encased in the torturous undergarments that we were forced to endure. (No pantyhose then)
I certianly did not expect that I would be brought back to all of the social undercurrents that were swirling in the background of our tightly scripted lives.
Well anyway that is what I am going to do now and, if next summer it isn't getting much notice I will do it again.
Outstanding! As a History major, I am very excited to see how the characters will deal with certain national and worldly events. Please keep up this groundbreaking and wonderful work!
Yeah, Baby! Swinging news! (in my 'Austin Powers' voice)
LOL!
And even better news is I just checked Comcast sched in the paper, on TV guide, the net, and weekly TV guide. Long weekend is scheduled to show in Ma and if it doesn't Mad Men has just lost a viewer. This show is as fantastic as the Sopranos were but doesn't coats extra to get
I agree with all those who are enthusiastically calling for more AMC support for this program. I remember how "American Dreams" was pretty much discarded by NBC a few years ago, moved around on its schedule until even loyal viewers couldn't find it and a perfunctory inconclusive ending written for the final episode, which wasn't even called a final episode! I'd hate to see this happen with Mad Men; it has the potential to be one of the most popular (already one of the most critically acclaimed) series ever, if AMC handles it like the treasure it is!
Fabulous news that Mad Men has been renewed. Unfortunately, we fans will have to wait far too long for season two. As a woman who entered the work world in the early 1960s, this show resonates very, very strongly with me. As I watched the first episode I said, "Now I remember why I didn't want to get married back then." I am fascinated by the amazing attention to detail in sets, costumes, props, etc.
Yippee! Just wish we didn't have to wait a whole year for more Mad Men. I'll bet HBO is kicking themselves silly for passing on this great show -- the best thing to happen to TV since The Sopranos.
And as for promo -- just wait 'til Mad Men sweeps the next Emmy Awards. It has zero competition on any broadcast or cable network.
A thousand thanks to Matthew Weiner and AMC for bringing us this great, innovative, creative series.
How incredible is this show? I can't wait for every episode and watch it at least twice to catch everything. Betty rocks! So naive yet crazy and tough. I'm in love with the clothes and the period sets. I want more pyrex and pregnant ladies drinking. The sexism is so twisted! The cast has such chemistry, it's sooooo hot! Men in suits and hats, women in shiny clothes. You don't need skin to sell!
I stumbled across this show via Comcast on demand... outstanding show! Nice job AMC; investing in something fresh and new. It is the one show that I look forward to watching. Make sure you release season 1 on DVD... Betty shooting pigeons; what a show!
Thrilled there will be a 2nd season! Great show. I never really followed a show everyweek before this one. I just love it. Thank you AMC.
Mad Men is a gem -- every aspect of the series is outstanding. Thank you!
I love this show... and I can't even relate to the times, I was born in '84. I started watching this show because a buddy of mine is going into advertising, and from hanging out with him I started critiquing ads as well. Then this show appeared and I became hooked, but not because of the advertising component, but actually more because of the characters and dialogue.
Like one of the previous comments noted though, watching this show makes me want to smoke and drink! Tobacco companies should be paying AMC if they aren't already.
Thank goodness! This is the best show in the last 15 years!! Wha-whooooo!!
THANK GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WOULD HAVE TO JUMP UNDER THE TRACTOR IF I DID NOT GET MY WEEKLY DOSE OF "MAD MEN"!!!!!!! I WORKED ON MADISON AVE. FOR MERRILL LYNCH, PIERCE FENNER AND SMITH IN THE 60'S..........DOES THIS BRING ME BACK TO THE GREAT TIMES WE ALL HAD AT "THE GOVENOR" AND "LECHAMPS"!!!! I NOW LIVE IN A FARMING COMMUNITY SO THIS MAKES ME RE-LIVE MY YOUTH!!! I LUUUUUUUV THIS SHOW!!~!~ AND YOU BETTER GET SOME BIGGG AWARDS NEXT YEAR OR I WILL KNOW THE EMMYS ARE FIXED!!!
I love this show and I hope AMC promotes it more.
Just read all the comments and agree that AMC better get going with some great ads.........even though I could be very selfish and want MM all to myself!! Also, do you think AMC could consider airing it at 9pm?? This way we can all watch it three times!!!! (My eyes are falling out of my head by 11:00pm but I won't give in to sleep! Please more MM "spots" on AMC's commercial breaks!! Lets all make sure the Emmy exec.'s are listening! Gotta go...only a little over two hrs. till show time! (I want to see Peggy announce that she is preggi....ohhhh boy!!!)
Hey!! I'm the 7:43pm comment! Not Carol!!
Great great show -- it has all the makings of a classic series. Covers a time in America that doesn't get much reflection, but it's impossible to believe how far we've come as a society in just 2 generations. It also brings up such great memories from us 40 somethings -- from no-seatbelts to playing with plastic bags over our heads. Bravo, AMC!!!
I liked the Soprano's but I LOVE Mad Men! I am not a big TV watcher, but this show has me hooked! One of the best shows on the Tube in many years! I tell all my friends about it!
Bravo, AMC! Terrific move!
Finally some quality TV
I am so excited about the 2nd season. I hope to see Betty more and have her put Don in his place. Give her a modeling job too, she deserves it.
Madmen is one of the best shows I've ever seen. The attention to detail borders on the incredible. I just wish someone would wipe that smirk from Paul Kinsey's face. That character has got to be one the most loathsome idiots ever conceived.
Meant to write Pete's character is loathsome.
There's one thing that separates Mad Men from all other television shows.
It's toasted.
Great news that season two is on the horizon, although it's a far horizon. Summer of 08 is too long to wait.
At last, a television show worth watching every week. It's the first since Seinfeld that I truly look forward to seeing.
Come on, Seinfeld was good but it can't compare to MadMen. The cast of Seinfeld was, as we all were in our twenties, too self absorbed. The cast of MadMen takes us outside of ourselves. We aren't seeing us in a series with all of our foibles. We're seeing people who shine brighter than we do- either by being worse than we are or better than we are. That's what makes this so interesting. We don't know what they will do.
Congratulations on a second season. This show is great. A couple of weeks ago I watched a classic movie produced about 1960 - Butterfield 8 - and was amazed to see all the cigarette smoking, drinking and sex...just like Mad Men. You guys have captured the era of 1960 perfectly.
Fantastic news! This is the best show on TV. Nice to see quality entertainment, great writing and superb acting rewarded with a renewal!
Fantastic news! This is the best show on TV. Nice to see quality entertainment, great writing and superb acting rewarded with a renewal!
brilliant, sexy show show. period. my replacement for the Sopranos.
Why don't more people know about this amazing show? On the one hand I feel like shouting "Mad Men!" from the rooftops, and on the other I feel like keeping this gem a secret all to myself, neatly tucked away in a cigar box that smells of moth balls, beneath my bed, with my Nana's costume jewelry.
Great show !! It reminds me so much of when I was working in the Sales Dep't. of a major U.S. air carrier in the 60's. It was the best of times.
Small technical comment - what was up with the scene with Betty complaining about her father's girlfriend - at the end of the scene in the bedroom, you can see Betty's reflection blowing smoke out of her mouth while she is not doing anything. Glitch?
Do we know for sure that the second season will advance the time period by two years...or is that an Internet myth? I have not seen it anywhere but in these blogs.
Congrats on a second season. At first, part of me felt the show was set 47 years ago as an excuse for men to get away with smoking, drinking and hitting on women in the office because they know they could never get away with that today. But what confirmed for me that "Mad Men" is special was the episode where Betty, rejected in her attempt to renew her modeling career, takes the BB gun out and starts shooting at the neighbor's pigeons. This show has an attitude! So, to take it up a notch next season, are you going to have children smoke, or adults smoke while sleeping? ;)
Jon Hamm is nowhere to be found and he needs to be EVERYWHERE! The show needs more promo and Jon's the man!
Great!
I have never been so enthralled by a TV show. It resonants on so many dimensions. If you writers out there read this here is a suggestion --- please put some more aspects of the advertising business (like in episode 1) in the scripts. I'm a professor of advertising and I showed clips from episode 1 to illustrate the creative process and the Unique Selling Proposition (it's toasted!).
I agree they need to promote the show more...many of my co-workers have never even heard of it...I'm cynical..I think it's because all the talk shows are owned by the big three networks and the big picture studios...The Today Show especially has become like listening to the hucksters on the Jersey Shore with all their parading of movies and shows "owned by our parent company"!!!
I'm glad that the network is bringing Mad Men back for another season.
There are so many things that shaped the 60's to explore.
Birth control pills free women from the fear of getting pregnant, thus laying the ground swell that will lead to the "women's lib" movement.
The revolutionary "beat nik" generation will start to question the status quo, with the writings of authors like Hunter Thompson, and the folk music scene will foster in the age of Bob Dylan.
The era of the arms race between the US and Russia will slowly melt away from its political clout and be replaced by the war in Viet Nam, thus bringing the anti-war movement.
The equal rights movement will bring historic changes with Rosa Parks, and fuel the fire for even more political unrest.
The Mad Men will struggle with the changes in their perspective jobs that have until now given them distinct lines to "color in", and they themselves will be influenced by the changes of the social norms in their personal life as well.
I love this show and try to tell my friends about it, because too often a great series like this doesn't get enough attention from the usual "TV Guide" audience.
I'm so happy to hear MM is on for a second season. Such good writing, bring it on! I love the chemistry between Don and Rachael. I wish they could have met before Don was married. He and Betty don't seem to have a lot in common except that they are both beautiful.
This show is surreal and provocative. Truthfully seductive. I hope it continues for many seasons to come. Couldn't ask for a better cast!!!!
I wish the episodes were posted on this site. I love the show, but not enough to give itunes $2 for everyone I missed....this sucks!!!
I don't know how many comments the producers read, but I for one would buy a fully loaded dvd of this season in a heartbeat - and I hope it will include deleted scenes and much more in-depth commentary and features than were found in the behind the scenes clips on the website. The show itself is addictive and has more depth and layers than I've ever seen on tv, and I'd love a dvd with features that met the same description. Lots of material from Matthew Weiner about his vision and inspiration for the show. Interviews with the show's advisors or people who actually worked on Mad. Ave. at that time would be far more interesting than an actor saying "People were smoking and drinking all the time!" or "Things were rilly different for women back then!" Yeah, thanks, history boy.
This is one of the most boring shows on TV.
Another season of this drivel will definitely deep six it next season!
I love love love this show! Sincere congrats on Season 2! Can't wait to see more of Pete's homelife and how it's different (or similar) to Don's. I love his adorable wife Trudy - I hope he doesn't dump her for the secretary!

I AM SO HAPPY AND I LOVE THIS SHOW. This is such a refreshing change from the same old, same old soap operas. The acting is outstanding and the story lines riveting. I hope it lasts season after season! Too the skeptics, the show is too deep for you to follow. Stick to Desperate Housewives, Showtunes and Grey's Anatomy. Truly artistic, way to go AMC.
Thank you for renewing!!!
Thank you for renewing!!!
Wow! I just found this blog, Mad me3n is simply the best and most underrated show on TV by far. KUDOSA to AMC and the producers and writers. I never thought Wiener could top the Sopranos but he did. This is ART!
I see a network buying this series... Its too good and underpublicized
Fabulous!
Fabulous!
Great news. How about at some point next season having Bertram Cooper get tickets for the office for "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and no one wants to go?
I love this show. It really reminds me a lot of the time I grew up in. The fashions are gorgeous and my girls loves that period. I hope it comes out on DVD becuase I will buy it!
This is one of the best shows on TV!
this is the best news my husband and i have heard. we absolutely love this show. i agree that there isn't enough publicity about this show. they need to advertise it on other channels, and maybe do a special on an entertaining tv channel, or entertainment tonight, or something so that other people can know. the sopranos was so well advertised that even those who didn't watch it new aboutit, but nobody i've talked to has ever heard of this show. we absolutely love it. the characters, everything. please keep it going, and going and going. and thank you for putting it on a non-pay-cable channel.
This is simply one of the most intellectually stimulating shows ever aired on the "vast wasteland" of television. If I had any criticism, it would be directed towards the programing schedule: PLEASE AMC, aire repeats of each show at a reasonable hour of the evening; for those of us who refuse to buy a DVR to record shows we might miss on Thursdays, I think it is unreasonable to require your loyal viewers to stay up until 2 A.M. on Monday or Thursday mornings just to "catch-up."
Nonetheless, I am grateful you do repeat the shows.
I'm so glad this show is being renewed! I look forward to watching every week. Favorite show on television!!!!!
I can't believe 13 episodes = 1 season and I have to wait until SUMMER 2008 for Season 2! Sigh! Hope this will be on DVD by Xmas time.
I am so glad MM has been renewed. I really hope that Don's character remains a mystery - it's what makes him so watchable. I hope he never gets exposed for whoever he really is; his made-up persona is whatever he wants it to be. Hopefully Betty will wise up and become more attentive and intelligent than she has been. I'd love to see him devote himself more to his family, especially if Betty gets a clue and finds out what he's been up to.
I LOVE MADMEN!
The musical score, the beginning animation, the ensemble, storyline, costumes, set design, brilliant acting.
Kudos to AMC and the whole cast!
Brilliant!
I've been caught up reading/writing on the individual episode blogs, but want to say here - congratulations to Mr. Weiner/AMC/everyone involved for giving us this show.
Although I was a child, I can relate to all the scenes outside of the office & they look like my family photos & bring back memories. When discussing with family & friends, we're "do you remember.. Dad use to say that.. Mom's outfits.. we had the exact same..
I think this is one thing that is grabbing a lot of peoples' attention, along with the complicated issues of all of the characters. The writing/dialogue is just superb. Perfectly cast.
I have never blogged a TV show before, so I know I am hooked. The renewal was great news.
I love the show Mad Men and really appreciate the sets and good writing.
Good news that Mad Men will be back for another season. Any news on a DVD release of the series?
I'm really happy that this show got renewed by who do we have to wait so long? Why only 13 episodes? This show deserves a full 22 episode season.
Way to go cast and crew (and AMC); here's to season two!!! Thanks so much for television worth watching.....I knew this show was a winner half-way through the first episode. This is only the second show in probably ten or twenty years that I actually go out of my way to religiously watch (Deadwood being the other) great cast, great writing, great sets; fantastic. Please roll out season one on DVD as soon as possible. Bonus points; Christina Hendricks and January Jones (and the others) modelling the best of 1960 Haute Coutere in a DVD extra.....AMC is sitting on a pile of gold bars; believe that.....
So very glad to hear it. Maybe they could do something about the typewriters next season, so people won't feel such a need to point this tiny flaw out every other day?!
Congratulations!
Bravo! I am soooo please about the second season well of course you couldn't just leave all of us hungry viewers hanging now could you? All I want to know is when and where can we get the complete set on DVD I've never been one to enjoy a series but Mad Men takes the cake.
I wasn't around during the period this show is set in, I'm 38. But I do love the show. Its a peek into the past with the attention to detial and the exploration of the underbelly of a society that people in my age group see as some kind of pristine, innocent time. The show's characters are compelling and I see myself in a couple of them. I see other people I know in others. Its the only show on TV I make a point to watch and I'm thrilled that it was picked up for another season.
But...
Next summer is waaaay to long to wait. I'm sure the makers of the show have their reasons but it doesn't seem like such a good idea to me. I would think that a lot of folks would lose interest. We're talking an 8 or 9 month period here. Its ironic to me that a show about advertisers would commit such a monumental marketing mistake.
So happy to hear the show will continue. Completed hooked on it!!
This is GREAT news. What a wonderful show. I started in the ad business in the mid-70's and the drinking and smoking were alive and well. Even then, I was one of the very few females in a professional job, opposed to administrative support. I'm so glad I wasn't around for this period.
You have a fantastic show - wonderful actors, great writers and top class production qualities. Bring out the DVD very soon. And, please keep this show running for a very long time.
You probably need to promote this show on a broader level to attract a larger fan base. Once someone views, they will be hooked!
So glad to hear the best show on TV is coming back. I have never watched AMC before this show and now you're on my TIVO season pass. Talk about an effective ad campaign! I tell anyone who will listen to watch this show.
Mad Men is becoming one of my favorite shows. Overpowering any of my favorite modern tv shows that has come out. By far a genious idea, I hope Mad Men becomes really big!
Fabulous! For those of us in advertising the show gives the world a tiny glance into the pressures, pitfalls and foibles of our everyday lives -- lives that no one really understands.
P.S. More Christina and more of the inner workings of the agency.
I love love LOVE this show. I haven't gotten so excited about television (and I watch enough) in the longest time. I hang on every word, every visual. This is the best thing on tv hands down.
Well done ladies and gentlemen, well done! Now pour me a scotch!
IMPORTANT QUESTION:
I meant to ask this earlier....why was there no mention on this episode about Pete punching the other guy for his comment about peggy? Seems like they would have wondered why he cared so much (or at all).
Does anyone have any insight, or did the writers overlook this? Or did I miss something (entirely possible).
I love the show, but as soon as I saw a repeat I assumed they were all going to be repeats and now I've missed an episode. You need to use the TV to tell people which episodes are repeats and which episode is being repeated when.
I missed episode 10 and now I see episode 11 is not on until the 18th, if the information on the site is correct. I saw something somewhere on the site that mentioned where I could find information about when shows would be aired again, but now I can't find it.
Great show, I am addicted, great that I am able to watch it on demand on Rogers in Toronto whenever i want to, this way I never miss an episode.
Outstanding show. The only one I make time for every week. Very glad it is picked up another season.
I'm looking for a 12 step program for my addiction to Mad Men...any ideas? I'm so bummed out that I have to wait until next summer for season 2. This is the best show I've seen in a long time and, because I don't watch much t.v., I'm completely loyal to this show and have told all my friends to watch it. Matthew Weiner, you're a freakin' genius! I haven't had it this bad since Sex and the City!
Answer to Important Question from Mad fan 7204... my dad said when he was a kid, if anyone made a tasteless comment about any woman within the company of others, they'd have their ass handed to them. It was considered offensive to everyone...ahhh, the good old days. But I was curious as to why none of his colleagues picked up on that as well.

I love Peggy's role. I hope they make her a knockout so she can shove it in everyones face.
Great show! Great cast!!
Love the costumes and sets.
John Hamm is hot!!!!
Mad Men is stellar work. Best tv since Deadwood, and I'd say is right up there with Deadwood and Sopranos for best tv ever produced.
Have you seen the CRAP that the major networks are passing off as "prime time programming"? It's a joke, while Mad Men is smart, true, and utterly enjoyable. Thank you AMC for making the tv worth turning on this fall.
What the hell am I gonna do until next summer? I can't wait that long for season 2!
I was hooked when AMC was promoting the program and it certainly won me over. GREAT drama!! It's refreshing to see a show that for once is'nt "reality". I look forward to Thursday nights to watch an awsome program and just as excited that there's another season to anticipate!
Keep 'em coming!

Keep 'em coming!
I've just started watching MAD MEN, and I'm hooked right away.
All I want to say now is: PEGGY IS HOT!
In my opinion, "Mad Men" is one of the top five best TV dramatic series of ALL TIME, and moving up. I literally look forward to Thursday just to watch this show, and this hasn't happened to me in years.
The best episodes of this series rank right up there with solid short stories by Cheever or Updike.
Joni needs a sex scene!! Nummy!
i enjoy mad men and im glad that they will be back for another season. wow its great to see how women were treated back in the days, like a walkin piece of panties. im so glad some of these women directed change for the future of women everywhere.
This is wonderful! I am so glad that Mad Men will be around for a while. It's been years since I have actually made plans every week to be in front of the TV at a specific time to watch a truly great program. I'm hooked. As a young marketing professional, it's also fascinating to see what the field and the workplace was like in the early 1960s -- so many changes over the past 47 years! Mad Men is a true diamond in the rough, breaking free from the current dank sewer of reality show-dominated televison.
I can't put my finger on what is so engaging about Mad Men, but it is one of only three television programs around which I schedule my t.v. viewing. It is great, quality drama with an excellent cast. Keep up the good work and give us many more years of one of the best programs offered on television. Thanks.
Lou
Happy to hear there will be a second season. This show is outstanding. I came to this site to complain about having only 2 episodes left and I am delighted to hear about the second season.
Really have learned to like the character Peggy. I wonder now whats going to happen with her and Pete. You would think me being from Texas I could not identify with this world. But it seems very real and close. It bring back memories of terms
long forgotten now. Favored oil Companies were those who had "access to
cheap foreign oil.
Mad Men is the best show on television. The concept is intriguing and the characters are captivating. I want more and more! I haven't enjoyed a show this much since Sex & the City. I'm very excited about the second season. Can't it start before Summer 2008?
Excellent!.
Will we see an episode with Bill Bernbach?
AMC - get the word out to the Baby Boomers!! We'll eat this up! Get off of your duffs!
Wow!!!! Luv Mad Men! Emmys are a comin' for you guys! Keep up the great work. I luv Jon Hamm.
It is the greatest show! As a younger person (30) I can't believe the excess and open sexuality that was commonplace in those days.
What I find fascinating is that we claim to be more open-minded nowadays, but if you look at this in comparison, we are totally uptight!
I agree that there should be laws against some of the things I saw going on in the office at Sterling Cooper, but maybe we should find a happy medium and loosen up a bit!
Can't wait to see what happens in season 2! This show has the greatest writing and cast I have seen in a long time.
P.S. Does anyone know if AMC is going to release season 1 on DVD? Thanks.
I predicted that nothing on the networks' fall season would be as good as MAD MEN. Glad to see I was right--and that AMC renewed it. Groovy...g!
This show is so outstanding I don't even know where to begin! I had heard it wasn't going to be renewed and was so very saddened. I am so happy to see it will continue to be aired. I'm originally from Brooklyn, worked in the City in the 60's, my cousins worked in the City in the 60's and we are all flipping out over your attention to detail. One or more of your writers had to actually live this experience to capture everything that you have. I run around the house screaming when I hear things like Prospect Park (I grew up on Lincoln Road and lived there for a good part of my life). The cloth tapes on the venetian blinds. My Dad had a hardware store on Washington Avenue. It was truly the neighborhood store and my Dad used to restring those venetian blinds and put on those cloth tapes. I remember it as if it was yesterday. The saccarin bottle on the table, the smaller portions they are eating - EVEN THE PASTRAMI AND CORNED BEEF SANDWICHES WERE SMALLER - and they were smaller back in those days. The dresses. The fact that the girls covered their typewriters at night and uncovered them in the morning. The Selectric typewriters I used. I used to fly on those things. Typed about 101 wpm. The hairdos. The smoking. And yes, we all did that back then. No one thought to worry about being pregnant. These people nowadays don't realize that this is how it was for better or worse. Alot of us are still here despite everything we were doing "wrong" in those days. I worked on 57th Street and 5th Aveneu. I went to Henri Bendels, and all the other upscale stores in the area. I worked part time one summer for McCann Erickson! It was exactly as you are portraying it. You are doing a wonderful job. CONTACT ME AND I CAN GIVE YOU SOME MORE IN DEPTH DETAILS INTO THE 60'S SCENE IN THE CITY AND BROOKLYN. I'D GLADLY GIVE YOU INPUT. I think this show will be hard sell to some people in the midwest, south and west cause they didn't live this. I DID! I, and all my friends love this show!!!!
I'm from the south and I was born in the late eighties but I absolutely love this show. The characters and storyline has me intrigued every thursday. Thank you AMC!!!
!!!!!!!!
I would be highly agitated if Mad Men was not renewed!
I enjoy this show as much or more as a really good book and to just take it away when I am INTENSELY interested in what is going to happen next would make me upset enough with AMC that I would take my petty revenge by never watching shows on their channel again...if I can help it.
Excellent news! I'm glad the creators of the show and the writing staff are being rewarded for such great work. And let's not forget the outstanding cast of actors too...
I LOVE THIS SHOW! The acting is great, the tone intriguing, the look of it is fantastic.
PLEASE don't get into the hippie era too fast! I can't fathom guys having hair like Midge's boyfriend back in 1960! Were any of the people involved with this show alive in 1960? (I was a small child, but I still remember how people looked in terms of fashion/hair, etc.)
What is going on with the divorced neighbor and her strange little boy? And did wives like Betty REALLY wear fluffy dresses when home all day? My mom and the other neighbors wore capri pants back then - if they were just staying home.
What? Something done well creatively being rewarded with a second season? Really?
Outstanding.
More Peggy please, and more of "the love that dare not speak its name." Ah, the 60s.
Very happy that the show is renewed.
How about a change of schedule though?
Thursday night is already loaded. There are so many dull nights to choose from. Or have a regular encore night so if we miss it we will automatically know when to catch it again.
Very excited about a second season - I've been pushing this show on all my friends, so I'm glad to know they'll have another chance to climb onboard.
I hope there will be a DVD release soon - this is how many of the younger fans stay connected with their favorite series during the off-season, and spread the fan-base. Including lots of extras on the DVD would be *essential* for this series, particularly because the production is as important as any of the cast, and fans would love to see it examined beyond the clips on AMC's website. A few suggestions:
- More interviews with cast, including those in smaller roles like the junior execs
- Insight on the casting process (audition tapes)
- Interviews with the costume designers, and displays of fashions
- Shooting scripts
And of course, commentaries with producers, directors, and lead actors!
And if the DVD were released by Christmas (cough, cough), I would be able to give the complete season as gifts to friends, without having to refer them to capricious OnDemand listings...
I love Mad Man very happy there will be a second season waiting for the DVD to come out to share it with everyone. In the meanwhile please start promoting the show.
Thanks for the program.
This show is beyond great,I look forward to every minute of it. Let's hope this is not like Deadwood and cuts us off after 2or3 seasons, and is replaced with tripe!
There are not enough good shows on TV for grown up people.
Give us more of Jon Hamm! What an incredibly sexy man.
In 2007 Mad Men is the best drama that TV has to offer. The best drama that TV had to offer in 1960, in my opinion, was either The Twilight Zone or Route 66. Wouldn't it be good for an episode of one of those shows to be seen and commented on by the characters and events of Mad Men within an episode of Mad Men, placing the two in dialogue with one another, as well as (typically for Mad Men) in dialogue with the 2007 world of Mad Men's creators and viewers?
I love this show! It haunts my mind. I'm drawn to it like crazy. It's fascinating. I espcially like the character of Don Draper. He has everything life can offer, yet he still suffers from a mid-life crisis. I know a man with the exact same problem!! (And I'm crazy about him as well!) I agree with DAZ!
hi i love salvitor ramono he is my uncle even though i can not see this i still love him. he is also my godfather.i LOVE himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Nothing this good on the airwaves in a long while. The people are real and the stories are believable . A good honest look at the american people in one of many social transitions. If the writing keeps pace this deserves a good long run.
This is one of the best shows I've ever seen and I haven't loved and followed a show this much (every week, in fact) since NBC's The West Wing. Bravo to AMC for creating such a smart, beautiful, fascinating television dramatic series. Please keep the episodes coming (and release a DVD of season 1!)
mm is the only tv show that has me addicted. every friday am, i look forward to thursday 10 pm.
my 1st wish, that the series continues, has been granted. thank you.
now for my 2nd and 3rd wish: make each episode 2 hours long and
give don and rachel lots of airtime together.
thanks for the truly terrific work.
I want to see all of season one's episodes as I found this fantastic series just a few weeks ago. It is right out of my era. I do remember people smoking before during and after every meal. It is true to the year 1960. Just love it; can't get enough!!
What the West Wing did for Washington politics, Mad Men is doing for Madison Avenue advertising. As good as the acting, writing and directing are, the art direction is the real star of this great new show. Bravo to AMC and all involved! Mad Men is truly in a class by itself and really gaining momentum. Every week I hear from someone new that they're "hooked!" Too bad AMC didn't see their way to renewing the series for a full 22 episodes. Hopefully, all the newfound fans will hang in there until next summer. Too long a wait by my standards. I want more NOW!!!
I LOVE THIS SHOW! A co-worker of mine praised it and I watched the first few episodes on-demand and was hooked!
LOVE LOVE Jon Hamm...BEAUTIFUL!!
Thank goodness. Best thing on T.V. in a very, very long time!
As someone who has actually worked on Madison Avenue (I worked for the Hispanic Division of Y&R in the mid-90's), I have to tell you this is great stuff. My brother (who was born in 53) and I watch religiously. It's like Ozzie and Harriet after the cameras stopped rolling. I predict it will be on the air for MANY seasons to come!
Love this show!!! with only one very small complaint....I notice the occasional modern day terminology and phrases that takes me out of the intended time period. Something for the writer's to watch out for. Otherwise this is by far the most original, enjoyable show on the air with hopefully many more seasons to come.
I just read somewhere else that the final episode will run commercial free and also show the "wrap" party. Do they have those parties at the end of each season? I thought it was just when a show wasn't coming back...I sure hope it does! This is the best show I've seen in years. So intelligent and suspenseful. Plus, there are a lot of red herrings and foreshadowing to keep one interested and hooked. LOVE IT!
Fantastic show, so well made with a superb production design! Ahh, the scent of ashtrays and cigarette smoke and love those skinny ties!!
Look forward to seeing this again. It is awesome in High Def (via Time Warner HD On Demand) so I always have to wait until Friday to watch it in HD.
The best show ever. I'm already waiting for the 2nd season. And hopefully the 3rd, 4th and on and on.
ALL the actors are wonderful. It's a pleasure to watch a show like this on TV, considering the unbelievable disasters we have to turn off every hour.
And do not promote it. We the public are doing that job, every one of us is telling everybody. Save your money and create more shows like this, AMC guys.
Wow, glad to see so many viewers as excited about this original and well done show as I. What a GREAT show with every aspect exceptional from writing to acting to accurate fashion and decor to truly developed characters. I've been checking some accuracy points as when Joan was discussing the film "The Apartment" the Friday before Labour Day 1960 then researched the film's release and the other mentioned film "Psycho" and both were released in New York City on 15 June 1960. As a child who turned five in 1960 I do have memories of the home surroundings and all the smoke and cocktails of my grandparents parties. In essense, I'm hooked. Well done.
I couldn't be happier. AMC should be very proud to have run with this project. It shows great courange and prowess. Don't forget that FOX initially passed on The Sopranos, and look where that got them.
Cheers to a masterful series of superb quality. I have brought all of my viewing friends to AMC to view MAD MEN. They are as hooked as I am, and we all thank you for renewing it for a second season.
Now, where can I buy the DVD set to own?
My dad was an executive in 1960. This is exactly like his work era. His office was decorated almost identically like Don's.
Everyone, I mean everyone smoked everywhere. I cannot believe how AMC has captured every detail. We had a clock exactly like the one in Betty's kitchen. My mom wore petal-pushers just like the housewives in the show. My dad would visit the bars for business meetings and I'm sure he flirted with every chick he met. Like Sterling, the hard-living got to him and died at the age of 39 of a heart attack. Still, I love this show. I want to see more of Don and Rachael. I rewind their love scenes over and over and over again. Don totally is in love with her. I hate that Pete stole Don's box sent by his dead brother. Pete is a snake. Hey, what's with Peggy's weight gain? At first I thought she was pregnant with Pete's seed, but is she just eating too many pastries and donuts? Let me know what you guys think. I love reading your blogs. The fans of MM are terrific.
So glad to hear that Mad Men is being renewed. But can't bear the thoughts of having to wait a long winter and spring . Can't we have a fall season?
I have never been hooked on ANY show - in fact seldom watch TV - but this one is addictive.
Lois J
That's the best news I've heard all day! I love the show and i can't wait to see the last two of this season, so i can get totally pumped about the second season. MadMen is my all time favorite show, I told everyone I know about it and me and my girlfriend watch it every thrusday @ 10 and @ 11. To the writters of the show KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. and you will forever have a fan in me: Cassandra Farmer.
i am so glad that theres going to be a second season. i am disappointed that i have to wait until the summer. oh well... all worth the wait. More Joan and Roger and Junior Execs!
I Love the show.
I cannot wait for Thursdays to watch the new episode. You all have done an outstanding job in terms of screen writing and in terms of portraying the various charecters of the 60's
We in our household change the whole schedule of our activities on Thursdays so we can all watch Mad Man.
Keep it Up
Great news. I tell everyone I know to watch this show.
Cheers to AMC and Mad Men! Congrats on the second season!
Fantastic news. Madmen is one of the finest shows that has ever been put on TV.
wow.
what more can be added?
the at- home scenes w/ betty and her friend, smoking and chatting, was exactly how it was in our home back in the sixties.
as a little kid, there wasn't anywhere to go, other than my bedroom, to escape the smell of cigarette smoke.
fantastic scripts, characters and settings.
totally addicted. thrilled about a 2nd season.
jack
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SECOND SEASON!!! PLEASE SHOW US MORE OF THE FABU CHEMISTRY/RAPPORT BETWEEN RACHEL AND DON....IT'S REAL YET FANTASTICAL...great edge to the story!!
Jon Hamm is gorgeous. Where has this guy been hiding out? He should be the next leading man in the movies. He explodes with sex appeal. I hate the thought of waiting until next summer for season 2. Why only 13 episodes?
Great news about a second season. I have been catching up on this season thanks to my OnDemand channel from my cable company.
I was turned on to the show by Salvatore himself, Mr. Bryan Batt. He MCed the Broadway Cares Grand Auction recently and asked the crowd to check him out on the show. Thanks to Bryan this is my favorite "new" show.
A Season One DVD would be very welcomed. Especially if it included comentaries, outtakes, and behind the scenes info.
Great to see John Slattery turn up here. He captures the era very well. (Remember him as the union organizer on Homefront?). And Robert Morse too! What a delight to see him on screen again.
The first time I saw the show, I was hooked...One of the best shows on television! Can't wait for season 2!
Hurrah!! that AMCTV is extending the life of "Madmen" to a second season. All of the blog comments I've just read (above) capture the reasons for doing so: an inventive series, sharp and untimid portraits of the leading characters and plot lines that lasso in viewers' interest and attention.
My only puzzlement is this: Why would Draper have married so immature a woman? He is a tough realist; his choice of his bride needs to be explained and justified to fans.
All the best and congratulations for Season 2.
Sumner B.
Love, LOVE THE SHOW!! I'm so excited and can't wait for the 2nd season!
WHAT??? NO MORE SHOWS TILL THE SUMMER OF 2008??? C'MON, MORE NOW!!!!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! ENGAGING THEME SONG , OPENING GRAPHICS AND FABULOUS ACTORS,,NOT TO MENTION AN OUTSTANDING THEME...THIS WAS THE ONLY SHOW I WATCHED AND LOOKED FORWARD TO ALL SUMMER TILL NOW...GREAT SERIES
Having a party here because of the second season news. Where's the vermouth?
Simply the best! I love the sets, clothes and the wonderful plots. It's the only show I have followed since "TAXI". Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.
Yeah!!!! I can't wait for the 2nd season! This is such a great show! The characters and the plots are very original. I love the clothes, hairstyles, etc. I'm so hooked!
The actors are absolutely marvelous and so believable. I can't imagine any other group of actors for the show. I hope they know we absolutely love and can't get enough of them (both the characters and the actors playing them).
I can't say enough of the show.

I just started watching this show last week...it is so cool. I began working as a secretary mid 60s and can relate to the way people behaved; i.e., office culture, etc...remember when we all had ashtrays on our desk.
I love this show....but please, please, please, don't make me wait until SUMMER 2008! How about next February? Strike while the iron is hot! Would Don wait that long? I think not!
If you'll send Jon Hamm to my house for just one kiss, I promise I'll blog about this fabulous show on the biggest website for marketing professionals... ;]
A second season? Im still catching my breath from the utter brilliance of the first. I was astonished by the idea of this show from the very beginning. The themes and motifs of this show bring forth such powerful ideas about our society and the history of it. I am an English major at Vanderbilt University and i can truley say that this show has as much substance as anything Ive seen or read. Mad Men is remarkable and I am a fan!
I am just ecstatic that the show is coming back for a second season! When they showed the promo for the season finale, I was crushed to think there was only one more episode. I immediately ran to my computer to look up the amc website to make sure it was coming back...YAY! This show is truly the most authentic portrayal of 1960. I love it! Oh, and I agree with the other posts that Jon Hamm is just too sexy for words; and the whole cast is just wonderful! I, too, am looking forward to a boxed set of Season I to keep me happy til next summer. Can't wait!
I am a 30-something mother of 3 who NEVER watches television. But after my husband talked me into one episode, I was instantly devoted. Thank you for a show of substance and subtlety that doesn't have to rely on (or even hint at!) violence to fascinate viewers. I also marvel weekly at your brilliant casting. And you must be doing your job well, because after each episode, my longing to have lived in that decade and wear those fabulous dresses is only dampened by my great relief that I never had to live in that restrained, sexist era!
Thank-you for giving me something to look forward to. Cable is overrun with more garbage programs then good ones. You could you turn next season 2 into 26 shows!?! :)
I was a CT suburbs kid in 1960 and my dad worked as a businessman in NYC. The show is spot-on perfect in its portrayal of the rituals and icons I remember from that time and place: the dad's commute on the jiggly and smoky train, the baggy gray flannel suit, the heavy square (and mysterious) briefcase, the de rigueur gray hat, the anticlimax for all of "I'm home," the wind-down cocktails with the wife (who after a day with the kids needed that cocktail as much as the husband did). I love that the show pokes gentle fun at the child-rearing customs of the day (somehow we survived): unrestrained kids tumbling over car seats as mom drives, happily smoking and drinking pregnant wives, children running through the house sucking concave "o's" in the choke-hazard plastic dry-cleaning bags pulled over their heads, only to be admonished by mom "my dry cleaning better not be on the floor!" A delightful reminder of the way it was! And a reminder that our parents lived complete and complicated lives that they never told us children about.
AMC,
Great News !!!!
I had a scare when viewing the short wrap party videos, one star says that he will
stay in touch with the rest of the cast after season 1. This sounded like there would be no season 2. Look forward to next season !!1
What about Madmen products ? Mad men DVDs, shirts, hats, mugs, etc.
Great work all !!!!
SM
YES!YES!YES! I was born in '60. MM takes me back to a time I wish I could revisit! Thanks AMC!!!!
This is truly a great show!! I was hooked from the very first episode. I would love to see Don and Rachel get together. Please don't make us wait till summer of '08!!
So glad to hear there is a second season!
The show is the best of any show on TV this year...well written, great dialogue.
May it go on for many more seasons.
To the person who was questioning why Don would marry such a messed up woman... As much as I love Don...he is a philanderer and has many foreboding secrets; she must be aware of these things on some level. And he mentioned (to her psychiatrist yet!) that she used to be just "anxious." Also, I think it says a lot about him, especially in that era. He had to marry the "perfect" woman for his image...but gets "down and dirty" with other women. He seems disinterested in having sex with her. And alas, no one is perfect and the cracks are starting to show. I could discuss this show all day...lol. Too bad no one I know has the sense to watch it.

I can't stop watching it........I love the characters.....even watch the reruns. Reminds me of the good ole days. Thank heaven that you signed up for another season. Its the best show EVER. I am anxious to see the new shows.!!!!
Absolutely wonderful! Please do not discontinue!
I LOVE this show. When they said there
would be only one more show I couldn't
believe it. I just learned there will be
another season but we have to wait unti
summer '08. Why so long? The writing
and acting are superb. I'll buy the DVD
if you put it out there. I can't wait
till next Thursday.
Great news! However, Why is this a summer replacement show? It should be a full season. 26 weeks!
I'm happy that Mad Men was renewed but totally bummed out that I have to wait until next summer for seaason 2. Can't they move it up? I'm already having withdrawl pains. Best new show on TV in years. Period. End of story.
Does anybody know if they will REPEAT the first season and when?
Some of us just found out about this show....
I'm so glad the show will be on again next year! I'll miss it until then, though. I don't watch much TV, but I look forward to Thursday nights and MadMen. Great cast, great writing, and great chemistry.
Love the show - have been hooked since episode 1. It has brought me back to AMC and I look forward to your other series in development.
The actors are wonderful - Midge is the only character I could do without - adds very little to the show.
One word to describe this show: BRILLIANT!
Feels like you're watching a well crafted, fine, dramatic mini-movie every week. This is, by far, the only show that has my husband and I rivited by the creative genius of the show.
Some comments have said: Why not promote it more? The only reason I can think of is: integrity to the arts. This show is stellar material. How many times have you seen a show promoted so much only to fall flat on it's face? I wouldn't want to mess with it's success. Let's take what we can get while it's still great to watch. . .
Jon Hamm's Don Draper character represents the quintessential male of that era: tall, dark and handsome, strong, silent type. But the glimpses of the real Don are what makes his character believable and totally fascinating. I can't wait for the next episode, let alone for the next season!
Love the show!!! Earlier time slot tho, please!!!
Betty is GREAT!! The costumes are to die for ! More, more more!!!!
...I will not be able to wait until next summer. Already having withdrawl symptoms!!
Congratulations to the phenomenal writters, actors and the whole Mad Men team. American TV just went up 100% on quality and good taste.
I LOVE this show!!!!! But waiting until next summer is going to be torture!!! Can't you finish Season Two any sooner?
I'm thrilled! This is a fantastic program with realistic and haunting characterization and story arcs. Despite the 60's setting, the themes are timeless. Can't wait for more!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR SUMMER!!!! (and I hate the heat!!!) :)
What a perfect show! I am so happy it has been renewed!
When will Season 1 be available on DVD?
Perfect writing, perfect acting, perfect music, perfect "look".
Will season 1 be rerun?
Season 2 in summer of 2008. I don't think I can wait that long ...
great news - my husband and i love the show. But how about a 20 episode season? thirteen just whets the appetite & we need a full course meal!

Best on TV. Make second season into 26 episodes and give Draper a '61 Vette. And start season in May and run through November.
Easily the most well-written show on television today. Every word of dialogue is thought-provoking. It will seem like an eternity waiting for next Summer to see Season 2!
How can I be an extra on the next season? Does anyone know where and when they are filming?

Best New drama in years! Multi layered characters, great script writers, actors, cudos to all. Would be a hit on HBO or any channel. People just need to find it. Please advertise and re-run season one.So many missed it and didn't want to tune in late in the season. Very pleased it is coming back for season two. I wish it were sooner. Great Programming - Great Show! Thanks
I love this show! It's the first weekly series type show I've ever watched, probably because I am 64 and sure remember the 60's. I'm so glad there's another season coming!
very glad mad men will be back. shows like this are rare! extremely smart. love the characters and the story! well done
PLEASE- don't make us wait until next summer! You have built a nice fan base and we are so excited about the show that we stay up late to watch it every week! It would be great if we could get it back in the spring!
I worked for J.Walter.Thompson during its heyday in LA - what a free for all
The most fun I ever had in the name of business - Love this show and Don Draper
Absoutely everyone drank and smoked all the time - This show captures the era perfectly - The characters are all people I worked with -- Beautiful attention to detail- sets, costumes, Hair and makeup
Absoutely wonderful - I want to watch it everynight, When will season one be on DVD
Am thrilled and looking forward to season
Two-- Thank you for finally making great TV
Whoop!
Thank you for this wonderful show. I can't wait to see how it develops in the second season. Until then, I hope there are lots of extras on the DVD of season one. Don't forget to release it in region 2!
This is a great show. Please keep it going! I've only seen the first few episodes, but I want the full season on DVD as soon as possible. cheers
I wonder if the producers, cast and creative team of Mad Men ever read these blogs; they would know that we can't get enough!!! Has anyone ever seen comments from them that would indicate that they do? When will the DVD be released??? Please hurry--it's over TWO HUNDRED days and nights until JUNE 2008!!
Part of the fun in this show is knowing that huge changes are coming to society-and these characters have no clue what's ahead! Italian movies, James Bond, the British Invasion, the Kennedy assassination, the Cuban Missile Crisis...I'd also like to see what happens now that Don Draper (or is it Dick Whitman's) brother knows he's alive. Will be become a part of Don's family?
The ONLY show we are watching right now. I even got my boyfriend hooked on it. We were skeptical at first, but intrigued by the plot. The clever writing provides an excellent look into the past of social issues and office politics, many which still exist today. We can't wait until Season 2!
This show is absolutely brilliant. We watched the marathon of the first 7 episodes and were amazed at how every throw away comment was indicative of something to be revealed later. The writers knew exactly who these people were and what they thought from the beginning. Brilliantly written.
I was enthusing about the first show to my mom who was a secretary in the 60's. Her response was, "Why would I want to watch that, I lived it." Her only critique was the treatment I described of the women in the office was a little restrained compared to her experience.
My husband and I watch episodes again and again. Can't wait for the DVD.
I LOVE this show! I'm so happy they play it twice on Thursday nights so I don't miss a thing! I was born in the 70's, so it is real eye opening on how things have changed since the 60's. I'm doing my best to convince all of my friends to start watching. MAD MEN is like Soprano's, Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives all rolled into one... except BETTER!
love the show. I must say that Don would never be happy with a woman like Rachel as they are both contol freaks and would make each other miserable. Betty on the other hand may seem weak and pliable but I think she could become quite a challenge to Don once she realizes how he controls. Example: No air conditioning and no summer cottage even though he admits to having a lot of money to Rachel.
Love Jon Hamm
Did anyone see January Jones on Carson Daly about 2-3 weeks ago? Christina Hendricks was on Conan last night. Both girls seemed to have really cute personalities. Carson was a pretty good interviewer. He asked about January's own personal interests and he asked about her character in the show. He also showed the pigeon shooting scene. Conan didn't ask Christina one pertinent question involving the show. Just goofed around with her mostly, but she was a good sport and seemed to be having fun. I wonder why AMC waited until the very end of the season to get the girls on those talk shows, instead of early on in the season when they may have generated some viewer interest?
Awesome show! the best show on TV! I just love the time frame. It is so cool to be able to go back in time and see how some of these things got started. The actors are perfect for the roles! Harry is a kind soul and hope those guys don't corrupt him!
One of the best shows on TV. I have seen everyone. I will miss it during the break.
Hurry back.
One of the best shows on TV. I have seen everyone. I will miss it during the break.
Hurry back.
Best show on TV in a long long time. Quality, honesty, integrity, truth, and fun. Can't say enough. Wonderful and very happy to hear that its returning but only 13 episodes? Why not a full seasons worth (22 shows) Please!!!!
Just way too happy about the renewal. I kept looking for some information locally (San Diego, CA). Think it is fantastic! Having worked in that atmosphere it took me right back there dodging the men and their comments and hands. Very fun.
Keep it up.
Best show since Sopranos... Its fun, educational, keeps me wanting more! Great news about season 2!

I normally hate TV. Only 3 programs manage to get my attention: Boston Legal, The Sopranos... and now, you guessed it...Mad Men. I was hooked from the opening seconds of the first episode. As one of the first "boomers" (born in 1946), I can relate to just about everything on this show. "MM" research department deserves a HUGE applause for re-creating a very special time in our country's history. The same with its writers and actors. BRAVO to all! I am SO bummed that, knowing you had a success on your hands, you didn't film a "few extra" episodes, instead of having it all end on Thursday, 10/18. So, I will have to be patient and wait until next summer. My congratulations to ALL connected with this most excellent television viewing! Thank you!!!!!!
Fanfreakintastic! Another season. Thank the guys at AMC for BRILLIANT programming! Can't wait for season 1 to come out on DVD!
Forgot to ad.....Wait until the Emmy nominations next year, Mad MEn will be there!
KUDOS to the writers and actors and ALL the staff at Mad Men!! A superb show and I'm thrilled it's going to continue into 2008!
This program is so good, I can hardly stand for it to take a break. I am sad every Thursday night when the episode ends. Even though Don is morally flawed, I am in constant fear that he is going to "be found out". He is such an interesting and complex character, as are his wife and secretary. More Peggy, please. I just can't tell you how much I love this show.
OK, the show is good. BUT, as a child of the 60s, it surely does remind me of how depressing this time was for women.
This show is great, possibly the best on TV ("Dexter" is pretty phenomenal, too, and when "The Wire" comes back, that too).
It's an expensive investment for AMC, and I was unsure if they'd renew it. A smart move. This program has completely changed the network's brand.
Now where's that "Prisoner" remake? If AMC can deliver it with the same quality as "Mad Men," they'll have the most interesting network on TV.
Now does everyone understand why we had a Women's Movement...and how much we've accomplished...
Brilliant opening sequence!! A riveting hour that captures the era superbly!
Thank you! I love this show!
This is the best show on TV.... it is going to be hard to wait until summer 2008 to see the 2nd season!!
I love this show it fascinates me and the writing is superb along with the acting. Whoever casted the show did a fabulous job as well. I can hardly wait for Thursday nights. The first night I watched it was by chance and I thought it was a movie. Then at the end of it they showed the preview for the next weeks episode and I got all excited. I normally do not watch tv series because the characters and the writing do not keep me wanting more. but this show is fabulous I'm sad at the end of each episode because I know I have to wait a week to see another one. I'm so glad that MadMen will be renewed for a second season. But to wait until summer of 2008 to watch a new episode is bumming me out. Hey but I have something to look forward to! Keep up the superb work!
What a fantastic TV series! I have never watched a TV series until now! Between the history lessons and the awsome style of the 1960s, I fell that this show takes me back in time. However, I was unaware of how 'slutty' everyone is -- here I thought this time was more conservative. Keep it up!
Just stumbled on the show one night and enjoyed it from the start. Great acting and serious drama.
David
I'M ADDICTED!! I was so disappointed that tonight is the season finale, and what wonderful news to hear there will be a second season! Wish it were sooner than next summer.
Me too...I've forgone goin out clubbin to see the Season Finale! This show blows my mind! Tou guys are awsome. And the producer, director, screenplayer...just brilliant..something seems simple yet it unfolds in 10000 directions. Genius.
Pure genius. Can't wait for Season 2.
one of the very best shows i have ever seen. was getting sad near the end of the final show until the wonderful news that there will be a second season. thank you amc & direct tv.
these were some of the finest actors i have ever seen and the writers are A+!!!1
Totally my favorite show... ranks with
Sopranos, Six Feet Under
FORGOT TO ADD: To the producers of this show. PLEASE, please make sure no to repeat the mistakes mde by the rpoducers of LOST. That was a great show butit lostts fan bae b/c they wee sooo SLOW in coming up with new episodes. You guys should capitalize on this success. Ride the wave! We're droooling for more!
All the actors -amazing!
This is by far one of the BEST programs on t.v. Sadly, we have to wait until next summer for Season 2. THAT in it of itself is unbelievable. Please renew...renew....renew!!!!!!!! It's exceptional and SHOULD stay in the fold.
I was surfing the TV on Saturday, when I mindlessly ended up on a MadMen marathon of the first 6 or 7 episodes. I was late for drinks with friends because I did not want to miss any episodes. I went on IPOD the next day and downloaded every episode I had not seen. This show is great. I stay up to watch the reruns - It is the creative process I find most fascinating. Not since ABC's LOST, have I been this excited about TV. Bravo!
Thanks to all the cast, crew for an absolutely dynamite show and first season. There has never been anything like this before. The camaraderie amongst all the actors is amazing; you can see how indelibly, yet effortlessly they are mining their characterizations. The most marked feature of this show is how suspenseful it is; it gives the impressions that an ominous explosion is just around the corner. It is the rise and fall of the emotions contained within the personal dilemmas of all the characters. Few shows has this kind of writing, where you get such a sense of inner turmoil, aided by the skill of the directing and acting. The series remained not only riveting from start to finish, but actually acquired added depth and complexity. Mad Men is like a juicy novel with visuals.
I'm addicted. Every week I can hardly wait to watch the character's lives unfold. I was born in '55, so in every scene I remember something about growing up.... about my parents.... about how life has changed.
The writing and every actor / actress in this show is brilliant.
It is like being in a fantasy world that is very real at the same time.... Don't stop!
Just finished watching the last episode.......what a great show, one of my favorites.........it's sooooo addictive. The 60's was the period of time I can hardly remember, but the show has brought make many memories of happy times in my child hood. I had a brother in law who was in advertising and the smoking, toking doobies, drinking, womanizing.....reminded me of what I used to see taking place in my family! this show is reminisent of problems just as today but different names and faces and clothes!
Is it possible they could put the second season on in
January'08? Next summer is just too long to wait for my next MAD MEN fix!! 8-)
I LOVE this show. I have never cared about a serial on TV before because I never thought it mattered. This show is so realistic. I lived it! I NEVER miss it. It is the highlight of my TV week! I can't wait for the next season. HURRY!
Omg! I am so excited about the second season of this wonderfully confusing show! Can't wait to find out why the wife was shooting the pigeons!
My house loves mad men!
WOO
The best show in my 24 years of watching tv and to be honest, I dont think im the only 24 year old watching. Yes, its about a time long, long ago but it is quality stuff.
Good work! More!!!
I am so glad the show has been renewed for a second season. It is really intersting. I hope they continue to go into Don Draper's past. I was shocked to see him steal that man's identity in Korea, but I want to know why he hates him family.
Waiting until Summer 2008 is total instanity!! What could you be thinking?! I haven't watched television in YEARS but I'm totally hooked on Mad Men...Talk about take you back to yester year!! I love it!! But I'll never wait til 2008!! Come on people...
Love the show and the writing. It's the first thing in a long time that feels original even though you're writing about the past. It feels so real, like we're actually watching how they came up with the "carousel" and other product names and ads. That scene was so poignant!
It reminds me of my mother and mother in law and the odd way they decorated their houses and the things they believed. I am old enough to remember some of the ads and how EVERYONE smoked, even in offices.
Love Joan, she sure knows how to push the bosses buttons with her sex appeal. Don Draper character is so deep, "the stone no one's lifted" but the audience gets a peek at. Then there's Peggy Olsen. She's such a surprise, so strong and bold yet naive and innocent at the same time. It feels like we're literally watching her rise just before she's going to crash through the glass ceiling. Bravo. One thing though. We did notice the weight gain but it was odd she had a baby and did not know she was pregnant.
The set and costume designs are top notch. I never miss an episode and can't wait for the next season. Summer is too long.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!
This is one of the best tv shows of all time; & I've been watching since even a little before the Kennedy/Nixon days!
Great show, and I'm so happy there'll be more episodes to look forward to.... You just need to do more marketing, as I'm sure many millions of people are unaware this show exists!
Congratulations to all involved in MM. The show's attention to detail is unparalleled; making it one of the finest period pieces I've ever seen on TV.
Expand the focus beyond the office in season 2. I'd like to see some travel that would have the firm pitch it's strength to some prospective clients on location. What better way to capture early 1960's America while holding true to the Madison Ave. context? Possible episodes:
-The men travel to the offices of Anheuser Busch in S. Louis to unseat competitor D'arcy Advetising. Gas-Light Square and a little Jim Crow are the backdrop for this ill-fated trip as
August A. Busch III recoils at the haughty Pete and throws them out of his office.
-Detroit to capture the Packard- Studebaker account. To tail fin or not to tail fin?
-Atlanta for Coca-Cola.
-Chicago for the Ray Kroc's fledgling McDonald's business. Maybe Pete could make his mark here?
Certainly Cooper has branch offices spread out around the country. Let's see America!
MM was great disapointed that I have to wait until july 2008
Good Show... Thanks for letting it stay on.
Love the show. But can't wait until summer 2008--you've got to be kidding. I wait all week to watch it. Please reconsider and put it on NOW!!
Thanks AMC, keep up the good work.
Hopefully as the show progresses next season the music won't die and turn in to a highly stylized version of "The Wonder Years".
Excellent! So excited about season 2. When will season 1 go on dvd? I missed a couple episodes.
Creativity sells! Absolutely the best little drama around. You've got our Canadian Ad agency hooked! So glad we're able to catch it here. Our office is abuzz with last night's finale, and yes, like so many comments to date - can 't get enough and really don't want to go through the withdrawals until Season 2. Box it, bag it and sell it so it's on prime time!!
The writing, the cast, and production crew have caught our hearts and we applaud the prodigious excellence.
Thank you so much for showing passion in your craft!
Also, to all the posts cheering for the women in the show thumbing the man I say more of the man. Give me more drinking, smoking, slutting and fist fights in the office. I work in Human Resources all day so at night I love to watch the good old days when the people looked clean, behaved badly and had to work hard to cover up the smell of body odor. I much prefer it to now, everyone smells great, looks dirty and behaves like politically correct morons.
Thank you, thank you for renewing the show. Excellent cast and script. LOVE the sets and outfits. Really enjoy and will be going nuts waiting for the second season.
The best show ever! So happy it has been renewed. It will be a long wait till summer 2008. Please keep up the good work-love every minute of it. Thank you so much!!
I was so relieved when Mad Men aired. Finally, a show that can offer depth, believable characters, and with dark comedy twist. Other networks need to learn from your example and stop airing the typical junk. (How many so called reality, hospital, and spoiled teens dramas do we need to see?) Mad Men is of a different caliber that gives a rare look at 60’s though a realistic lens. I applaud the network for continuing Mad Men for another season!!
I love this show! It certainly does a good job of taking you back to the early 60's. The cast and the writers have done an excellent job. The costumes are great.
My favorite series have ended (Sex & the City and the Sopranos). It will be hard to wait until next Summer. Thank you for bringing such a quality product to the screen.
The best show on tv today. Someone knows what they are doing at Amc.
Why do we have to wait till next summer? Did AMC not understand that we want more Mad Men now?
I saw all the pre-show hype, and was sceptical.
I watched the first few episodes, and was slighly confused.
I watched a few more episodes, and liked it.
I watched the rest, and became addicted.
Damn! Fine job!
What a fantastic show - well written and well-acted, it's both social commentary and escapism (it takes you into a world partly familiar, but partly new because we've rarely seen this era presented in quite this way)
Kudos to AMC for renewing "Mad Men" for a second season. Perhaps it is a loss leader but AMC will gain much prestige by bringing another dozen episodes of this marvelosus show to viewers!
Absolutely LOVE the show. Hubby and I start getting excited on Tuesday for the Thursday show. We can't believe we have to wait almost a year for Season 2. Literally the best show on TV we've ever watched.
Congrats! Accolades of praise! Way to go guys! Attaboy!
Smart, sexy, funny, bitter-sweet, not sentimental clap-trap or kitchey pop drama, but the thing that makes the world go round.
Does Peggy have a secret idea of herself as a successful woman in a man's world? There is something definitely bubbling beneath her demure demeanor. "Still waters run deep". Does Joan think she can out-maneuver the current male's desire and turn it into her dream? Does Don Draper think he can really escape his tainted grey past? Will he reconnect with his past after closing the door in Adam's face. Does Pete think he can topple his Father's statue off his pedegre-heavy pedestle? Does The gay-closeted character open the door to his persona? Does Roger become domesticated or is he merely re-charging his batteries? The likely, I think. Does Betty lose her passivity and grow into adulthood?
Does Rachel want to toy with the goy?
Set design, costume, is brilliant. Wow I can't wait for more, more, more.....
Such good news. This is my favorte show ever, and I haven't been this excited about a series since the original Law & Order started. It's so nice to have a show written for smart, sophisticated, adults! Isn't it funny how these WOMEN characters, who are supposed to be operating under rigid social constraints and sexism, seem so much more interesting and stylish (not to mention less desperate) than the pathetic GIRLS on TV today who just want to be famous and all look the same? That said: More Christina Hendricks!
Thank you for renewing my heroin. I'll be in reham till you come back.
That's rehab. Already need more....
I absolutely love this show. This show deserves so much more attention. The writing is excellent. It is like watching a movie every Thursday night. The show is just poetry in motion!
This show is fascinating. Being a female in my mid 30's it is interesting how woman were treated and office politics worked during that era. I am very disappointed that I have to wait until next summer for the second season!
Incredible!
I'm thrilled to hear this show will continue. Having been born in the mid-50's I can relate to the period and am impressed by the cultural accuracy, from the sets to the characters. The acting is impressive - unlike most of mainstream television, these characters feel real to me.
Great Show I actually made it a point to watch every episode. I sure would like to see season 2 but it is unlikely as I am about to cancel cable TV and live without TV since I cannot get even the local channel without cable or satellite.
It cost too much for cable and 98% of the programming I receive is pure garbage. I am going back to reading quality books.
I am a fully engaged mother of three who also works full-time outside the home. For me to commit to a TV show is a big deal because of my schedule. Thank you AMC for giving me something else to watch among a sea of mediocre and trite crime shows and sitcoms. Congratulations to the cast & crew for a second season; let's hope a writer's strike doesn't keep you away for too long.
Brilliant show! Can't wait for the next season.
Greetings from India.
When are the DVDs out?
By far the best drama on TV!. It feels so authentic. Congrats on a new season, wish I didn't have to wait so long. I'd love to see more of a back story on the Junior Exec's. Can't wait to see what Peggy does with her new baby!. Keep up the the first rate quality of this outstanding show. When will the DVD come out? Hope to see some of these actors get an Emmy award, they deserve it.
Used to be in advertising in London in the late 70's. You were dead on! Best show I've seen in a very long time. Could we have reruns....it's a long time until summer 2008? Or bring out the DVDS real soon!
My husband and I love the show! It's been a long time since we saw something on TV of such quality. We'll eagerly await the summer of 08 to be able to watch it again.
I am hooked on this show but you need to get rid of Campbell hes annoying as he**. Second season coming up cant wait
Debbiland....your post on Oct 13at 2:41 hit the nail on the head. I was in my mid-late teens but my Dad, a chemical engineer had the looks of Don all the way. I have pics of him on my refrig to remind me of what a successful and handsome man he was. Even his work area was set up just like Don's. Watching this show brings back alot of memories as I used to spent aalot of time at his job. AMC we all thank you for Season 1 and also for renewing this show
To AMC, Matt Weiner, the writers, producers, directors, and particularly the best ensemble of actors ever assembled for a TV series, thank you, thank you so much for Mad Men.
You all have created 13 fantastic hours of the best television I've ever watched.
In 1960, I was 23 years old, had 2 young daughters and a husband who lived his life amazingly close to the way Don Draper does his life. As a result some of my own life story resembles that of Betty and others in your story.
The first time you showed Don calling the psychiatrist for a report on how Betty was doing in her therapy, I suddenly was strongly reminded of the personal violation I felt when I learned that my husband was receiving, on a regular basis, a report not only of how I was doing, but word for word, some of what I was saying in my sessions. Watching Mad Men, I was stunned when I realized that others may have experienced the same kind of betrayal.
Watching the show each week, with your strict adherance to detail, regarding, the social mo'res of the period, the styles of speech, dress, furniture and architecture has allowed me to experience 47 year old memories in ways I never could before.
I understand that this is a TV show meant to entertain, but for me, watching the show has bee a remarkable experience and I thank you all. I'm sure it's been very revealing for today's young women to see just what the women of the '50's and '60's had to go through to try to earn respect and equality in a working environment.
Knowing it will be 9 months until we are able to follow the characters and their continuing story makes for a difficult wait. But, if nothing else, my 70 years has taught me some patience.
And by the way, in my opinion, the finale did, in no way, "jump the shark". Thanks again for a wonderful, creative and artistic effort for those of us who like our television REAL.
Mad Men is the best show on TV. My husband and I love it! We are thrilled that it is returning for season 2. Congratulations AMC!
Love Mad Men especially because it shows the times as they were without interpreting them based on today. I was only 8 in 1960, but times weren't a lot different by the time I entered the workplace. Thankfully times have changed for women at work, but interestingly the human themes remain very timely.
I like looking back at who we were in a time before Viet Nam, before JFK was assasinated, before those very Mad Men convinced us we can only be happy smoking Lucky Strikes or, er...using The Rejuvenator!
I really think Jon Hamm earned the Emmy for me in the scene where Don tells Rachael he lives "like there is no tomorrow because there ISN'T any tomorrow." His expression delivering such a line told so much about the character and his pain.
Network TV has completely abandoned good drama in favor of drivel such as so-called "reality" shows and the likes of "My Name is Earl." I hope AMC will continue to develop quality shows such as Mad Men and keep this on for many seasons to come. I wish it was next summer already not only because I could miss the cold weather, but so we can see what's next for the gang at Sterling Cooper--oh,and OK, see Jon Hamm's handsome face!
Wow what a great show. I can not wait until 2008 for season two!
Wow what a great show. I can not wait until 2008 for season two!
more madmen please! saw "peggy" the other day having dinner in nyc. my eyes got wide and i mouthed "i love the show". she smiled at me and mouthed back sweet "thank you". she was so adorable. my boyfriend who loves the show totally missed the interaction, i told him as we walked away, he was bummed he missed seeing her. keep up the great work. the cast was born to play those roles. btw the whole ad world hasn't changed that much except for maybe less smoking.
Thank you!!! I pause Tivo just to look at the clothes! And such great writing! The most memorable line: "...when the seduction is done and force is being demanded." I feel spoiled by such divine anticipation. Summer 2008, be here NOW!
I'm delighted about the 2nd season. This show has reeled me in much like the Sopranos did early on. Congrats! I love the characters and the time period. Wish I were a writer!!
no surprise year 2! This show deserves time slot up against some of the lousy network programming during season. Seriously good
hour of tv.

I haven't loved a show so much since Freaks and Geeks.
Such fantastic news. It really did live up to all the hype of the critics - it is the best show of the year. My only hope is that the show gets moved to an earlier timeslot to capture a larger audience.
Why do I have to wait until next summer for season 2!? And ONLY 13 new episodes? Ridiculous! AMC, let your winners run. Mad Men is one of only two shows I watch religiously, the other being The Office. It's brilliant and deserves more episodes than 13. Please order at least twice that for season 3 and make it run closer to a year. I understand the cast and crew need time off, but a few months should suffice lest you wish our hunger pangs for more lead us towards crippling starvation instead.
A very watchable show and beautifully written.
One element, however, bothers me from episode to episode.
The Selectric typewriters (mentioned by another fan) are simply wrong for the time period. We're talking about 1960. The Selectric was not introduced until 1969. It wouldn't matter much, but the sound of the office environment is just wrong. Offices in the 1960s had a background noise of whacking typebars, not whirring type balls.
Let's get the prop master to make a change for the better in the upcoming season.
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! I am so thrilled it was renewed for a 2nd season! Keep up the GREAT WORK!
A huge fan.....
peace
I think this is the best show that has EVER aired on tv
Im so happy i have On Demand so i can just keep watching it over and over till the second season
Ive seen every episode at least 4 times now and trust me there are things you missed the first time around
Does anyone know why Direct Tv was involved with the season finale i was so afraid that the show was going to go there instead of AMC
Great show, great cast and great look. I can't wait for season two!
Thank you!
Great show, great cast and great look. I can't wait for season two!
Thank you!
I can't wait until Season 2. Fantastic show!
Once I was hooked, (after the second episode) I worried throughout the rest of the season that the powers that be might not give us a second round. I am SOOOooooo pleased to find out that I have some of the best television in years to look forward to come next year. I swore that when Sopranos ended I would never give my heart to another series again...somehow, Mad Men worked magic on me and I've broken my vow.

So happy it's been renewed. I rarely watch a tv show on a regular basis and this one I don't miss! Now I have to wait...sweet anticipation.
I'd like to see Betty get tougher on Don and also make some changes in her life. She's a bit too Barbie for me right now. I know that was the way it was, but Betty Friedan will be some help soon I hope!
I am in love with "Mad Men" I couldn't wait for Thurs. nights to come to see what would happen next (and to who) Jon Hamm is so gorgeous and the way he plays Don is so believeable. Makes me wish my hubby was an executive. I just love a man in a suit and Jon wears his like a glove. Thanks for renewing it. I hate when networks cancel shows that really are good and keep on others that make no sense.
This show rocks!! I was born in 59 and love history etc. and this show seems so real. The episode with the Kodak Carousel brought back soooooo many memories because my grandparents had one and we watched slide shows numerous times. Keep up the awesome work, looking forward to summer of 08.
It appears that the first season will start showing again on Thursday November 1st.
Is that the case?
I want to catch this show from the begining.
Thanks
Words cannot explain how happy I am to know there is gonna be a second season, I LOVE MAD MEN... there hasnt been an episode that hasnt made me cry.
I have to compliment the cast, writers and crew on an EXCELLENT show. Each episode transports you to another era and all the details of the period and social norms are perfectly depicted. I watched the last few episodes during the first airing on cable and was very happy to find it on the Free Zone on my cable company's On Demand channel. I was so hooked on the show that I spent almost 6 hours watching episode after episode from the beginning!
I am not a TV junkie and rarely watch series televison but this show is a stand out and I cannot wait to see the next season. I hope the show wins every award in the industry!
Thanks
Jay in CT
Thrilled that there is a second season! Great stuff

I am obsessed with Mad Men. The best, most beautiful, richest television on the air in my thirty year old lifetime. Better than the Sopranos. The actors and actresses are the best in their profession and with every episode show their distinct knowledge of their craft.
Artful.
Intelligent.
Totally hot.
Thank you for the amazing work and the second season. I am waiting with baded breath!
Thursday nights at 10 pm has been a true treat with the advent of AMC's Mad Men. I have enjoyed each and every episode like sipping a fine Kentucky Bourbon.
I can't wait to sip season 2 and only wish that I didn't have to wait until next summer.
The casting is superb, the wardrobe and set design are spot on and I am confident that Mad Men will bring home an arm load of EMMYs.
Anyone who say's there is nothing good on television clearly hasn't watched Mad Men.
The show is perfect, except they need to bring back John Slattery as Sterling!!
If I die before season two, I'm going to be really pissed off! This is the greatest show to hit television EVER. Never has anything had me in it's grips like this show has. Keeps you wanting more and more and more. Perfection all the way around. Couldn't the cast work 52 weeks a year? Now that you have us all so spoiled, it's the least they can do!

This is the only show that got my attention so quickly. John Hamm's character Don Draper got me from the first episode and every Thursday night I was waiting for the opening credits. The best show I have ever seen in my life and role Don Draper has is the greatest. When the sean comes out on sale i'll be the first one to buy it

I am so glad to see the show is coming back.
The clothes, the sets, the writing and the preformances.. every aspect of the show is so so good.
Thank you AMC.
Can't wait till season 2
I worked at BBDO in the 60's; my cousin worked at Ogilvy. We each think Matt Weiner must have been watching one of us while we typed, but on manual Royals. Clearly, Sterling, Cooper must be a "stand-in" for DDB. No other agency of the time would spend all that money on Selectrics for all.
episode 2??? still haven't seen it. I assume it will be rerun but don't see it on the schedule.
re: Betty. She's a time bomb and the ticking is getting louder. Remember the pigeons?...
This is great news. Mad Men is the best thing to come along in many, many years. Congratulations on a very smart decision.
I was intrigued after hearing Joe Scarborough rave about MM on MSNBC's Morning Joe. Unfortuntately it was after the season finale which was the only episode I could catch on Directv. But a friend has Comcast on demand so I was able to see the last six episodes. Now I have to search for the first seven! Can't wait til season 2...and hopefully a DVD of season 1 in time for Christmas?!?
I am absolutely thrilled to hear about the 2nd season but sincerely concerned that if they wait until the summer of 08 people might lose interest or flat out forget the show ever aired. I of course will not be one of them....
Why do we have to wait so long for new episodes? My husband and I could not wait each week for the new episodes. Please let Roger come back!!! Have Peggy give up the baby for adoption and come back to Sterling Cooper as a Career Woman!!! You go girl!
I LOVE this series! I am there - that was my time - fifties and sixties. I identify. I was the Joan with an EXCEPTION. I had two boys that I went home to at night. No affairs.
Count me as one more for the passionate fan base! My best friend of 30 years turned me onto this show and we now call each other every Thursday to dissect the show during the second airing. It's amazing from the opening credits to the theme song to every nuanced performance. And the writing is sublime! John Slattery is always good and seems to pick great shows (or they pick him) and Jon Hamm is talented AND gorgeous. I saw him on Carson Daley (who is a huge fan) one night and can't figure out why Jon and this show aren't on more talk show and magazine covers. Congrats to AMC on one of the best shows on TV, as well as the best website and episode guide I've ever seen. Now, please reward the passionate fan base by moving Season 2 to January!
I can't believe I have to wait 6 months or more for new episodes. This is the show that I look forward to the most. I wish episode 1 was available ON DEMAND.
Here's your challenge; keep to the impossibly high quality standard (of acting, writing, freshness of concept, sly social commentary) you set in season one. It won't be easy.
Like many who have posted comments, I feel that shock of recognition in every scene -- my father's commute, my mother's wardrobe, my uncle's attitudes. But even if I didn't, I would relish every detail. It's historical drama, but a history that some of us can check for accuracy from our own memories.
OMG! Peggy just had a baby... how the hell am I supposed to wait until next summer? Sneak peak anywhere?
In all honesty, I doubt anyone will read this but...
I have never... in the history of my entire life... cared about the plot or story line of a show. EVER. The only TV I watched consisted of old movies or stand up comedy. This show has held me from the beginning. I work during air time. Every Friday morning I watch my Mad Men on Directv and don't allow anyone to so much as breathe loudly while it's on.
Thank you.
The End of Season 1? What???? I'm mortified! This and Six Feet Under are the best shows I have ever seen on TV. I'm so happy that Season 2 is coming albeit a very long time until then. Well, back to reading!

Just watched the 13th episode. Normally 13 is an unlucky number. Not so in the case of "Mad" ... The ending was superior. I was positively spitting nails [internally] about the Hollywood Ending, ... then reality hits in the 2nd iteration. Brilliant! A 12 out of 10, make that a 13 out of 10. Well done.
Arnie Tracey
The IBM Selectric was intoduced in 1961, so its use is not an anachronism in Madmen. Type away, Ladies!
I don't normally watch TV but enjoyed The Sopranos on DVD. After the first episode of Mad Men I checked it out "On Demand" and have been following it On Demand for the whole season. I'm glad that it will be back for season 2. On Demand is the future of TV entertainment and I'm glad that AMC is embracing it. I have to say, I have been watching AMC since I was a little kid. I thought AMC sucked since they got rid of classic films and added commercials. This is a good step towards getting back on the right track!
Best Show on TV Iam thrilled you are having a second season. Why do we have to wait until summer?
Last Thursday was my first Thursday night without new Mad Men episodes. It was one of the worst feelings on Earth not to have Don Draper and his buddies to drink martinis with. I'm looking forward to the return of this show, as there's rarely been anything better written ever put on tv.

I hope season 2 doesn't jump too far forward in time. The characters are becoming so well developed. If Weiner jumps too far forward in time, I think the focus will shift from the characters and their wonderful growth, to the change in the time period and what affect that has on their lives. I think the change in time period should be part of the time period, but not too big a part of the story. I also hope Weiner plans on many seasons to go.
Yay!!!!!
I'm so glad it's been renewed. Mad Men along with Damages were the best shows on tv. Being on-demand on Comcast was also a huge bonus. I rarely was able to watch the show on Thursday, so being able to watch it when I wanted saved me from having to download the show using other means.
Why do we have to wait until the summer of 2008??
I found this show by accident and so glad I did - absolutely love it. I hope it never ends!!!

Tony and now Don. My two favorite leading men. Can't wait til the summer.
Fantastic news, and congratulations to everyone involved with the show. From every perspective Mad Men is a stand out, and most worthy of our time and attention. Thank you.
Just watched the whole first season on iTunes and it was amazing. Thanks AMC for a great drama and promising another season. Wish it were sooner than next year but very happy it's coming back.
Absolutely amazing show, and the only one I watch. EXCELLENT work by all: producers, directors, actors. Compelling, interesting, beautifully done, and truly original!
I too am glad to see this renew....I've given up on HBO as they seem to dump every show and leave the viewers hanging...I now ignore anything they air as a series until it has at least 3 seasons which seems hard for them to do...good job!
I am a fan for life! Being a woman in her 50's in Denver's advertising/marketing community,it's fun to see how the games used to be played. You have my vote as the best new series on television! Can't wait to see what happens next!
Quality is definately worth waiting for, a show which captures the time is fantastic. Even though I grew up on the west coast, the show resonates with authenticity.
So glad to hear there's going to be a second season! My wife and I are late-twenties newlyweds who LOVE Mad Men! This series is so well written, well acted, and well produced it's no wonder it appeals to men and women of all ages. Everyone involved in making Mad Men come to life should be proud of what they've accomplished.
This was possibly the best television I have seen in... I don't remember. Generally I am not into series but this was simply jaw-dropping. The way the story bounced around all over the place annoyed my wife but kept me on the edge of my seat. I remember seeing Peggy split her skirt and saying "She's pregnant" but on the finale when the doctor said she was expecting I shouted "She's pregnant!". Surreal in it's own way. Love it. Love it. Love it. The fact that we get to see it almost immediately in Australia through Movie Extra is icing on the cake.
Tell January Jones I love her!
why have you skipped from episode #1 to episode # 4...Dont you think it would be nice to watch the show from top to bottom.... why do i have to miss #2 and # 3~
makes no sense to skip from #1 to # 4..it very annoying...and wait till next summer for season 2...thats crazy
How come you had a train conductor on only one episode and every other time on the train i never saw a train conductor?
ps train conductor expressions on ep #3 were great..he looked like dr phil... bring him back..liked him..
where is episode 3 and 4... when re-running it..
why not go in order so those of us who want to see the show can watch it in the correct order??
I hope there are the third and the fifth and possibly the seventh season too!
Please don't stop after the second season. The show is beautiful, smart and subtle.
I was overwhelmed with excitement every Thursday evening this season. Thank you to ALL who made the show possible.
I tell all my friends and family about this show. I even tell complete strangers-people I sit next to on the plane, the airport shuttle driver, taxi drivers, the cashier at the grocery store... Though I've seen some small write ups in Entertainment Weekly and a few newspaper articles - word of mouth is the best way to build the audience base for this truly amazing and ground-breaking show. I have never been so passionate about a TV show and I look forward to Season 2. Only wish we didn't have to wait until June 2008. But Sopranos had a long wait between seasons too... I guess we'll survive. Please get Season One on DVD for Christmas!! Thanks!
thanks to Brigthhouse my cable co.in clearwater the last episode 13th was silent.......i complaigned now they took it offf.,,,,,,,what a goff off... the best show they ever carried on demand and they cant get that right.....
Im SO looking for the DVD
THANK GOD I was in complete shock when Peggy gave birth Keep it up THIS is the best show on cable!!!!!!
Fabulous show, we are hooked. Donald Draper is one of the great TV characters ever created. His depth, his soul, his contradictions, are together a beautiful thing to behold.
I'd almost given up on regular TV. This show has given me hope that TV isn't just reality shows and quick punchline one-hit wonders...The writers are actually taking time to build complex characters for us with depth. Thursday night has officially become martini night. So much for giving up smoking this year....maybe I'll just quit between seasons :)
Love, love, love the show! Can't wait for for season 2!
Unbelievable first season, congratulations on the writing, acting and cohesion you've put into delivering the best show to hit television in many years. My wife and I watched it from Australia, set our DVR so we'd never miss an episode (we even taped the second viewing each week just in case there was a problem with the premier showing).
I too will have difficulty waiting until next summer to find out what happens with Peggy's baby, whether Betty really understands Don's cheating ways and whether or not Roger makes a recovery, but please, take your time and deliver us another season that gels as nicely as this one!
Congratulations to the cast, writers and producers for creating a hit!
This show scares the hell out of me, although I'm not exactly sure why. It was such a terrific first season--everyone working on this show should be proud.
Thanks for giving us captivating TV, AMC. Just maybe a few more episodes next season? ...At least 16 or 18? Thanks!
This is one of a few shows both my husband and I enjoy. We were both disappointed when we realized last Thursday was a rerun. We can't wait for the new season.
Kudos on a fab decision to renew! Just don't go screwing it up like almost every other show I have ever tried to watch for more than one or two seasons, okay? Keep with the vision and don't get caught up in adding cheese to the drama in order to be more fantastic. Please.
Can't wait!
Thank goodness there will be a 2nd season!!! Very rarely do I follow a show so closely and I have REALLY enjoyed Mad Men. The only problem is, I don't know if I can wait until Summer 2008!!!!
Keep up the great work! I will look forward to more episodes next year!
I cant wait an entire year for the next season.
Last summer, I created a calendar for my immediate family filled with photos and slides my father took of our family and friends growing up in the late 50s and early 60s. Mad Men is like that calendar come to life. Its not just great television, its great art. Here's hoping they can maintain the magic into the next season.
Don't watch too much TV but I allways make time for this show. Dare I say it. this show is better than the Sopranos. Glad to hear there will be a second season.
I love this show! The mix of characters is engrossing and habit forming. I can't get them out of my head! Thank you so much for renewing!!
I can't tell you enough how much I have enjoyed the show, wonderful cast. I have become very attached to each one. It will be very hard to do with out them for almost a year ,Thank you again for your hard work
awesome... I can't wait to see it!!!
Looking forward for season 2 to take me to a place where I ache to be again.
Wow! Another Season! Gosh! Gee! I am absolutely thrilled - can you tell? One of the top three shows broadcast these days is Mad Men. I certainly encourage the guys and gals upstairs at AMC to read each and every comment about Mad Men that has been posted on this site.
Mad Men is a work of art... thanks for renewing for a second season!!!

yes, yes.
More please :)
yes, yes.
More please :)
Super!!! And really IT IS BEST TV Show, and acter casting is perfect!!! Spesial - DON DRAPER, he is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally a show on cable worth spending a 100 bucks for!Superb!
This is one GEM of a show. The only thing that worried me about season 2 was the fact that I only happened upon it by being bored with everything else that was on that day and going to on - demand and being curious about the title Madmen I tried the first show. Love at first site.
I do think that the show needs some more marketing and tie-ins to the fact that the same person that was involved in the Sopranos is now creating this work of art.
I would love to see this show get into season 5 or even 6.
Thanks
Thank you for a wonderful show, Just when I thought I was through with series TV you pull me back in
Its good for me
This show has gotta have a second and third, and fourth, and fifth, and billionth season! Awesome, awesome show!!!!!
Summer of 2008? Huh? Is this a misprint?
Who dropped the ball on this one?
Way to capitalize on your audience.
I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy this show. Mad Men is an oasis of smart television in a wasteland of reality TV. Thank you AMC. I can't wait for season two.
I LO-O-OOVE THIS SHOW - AND DON DRAPER!!!
NEXT SUMMER IS TOO FAR AWAY!
My career is in Advertising and I'm intrigued by everything surrounding that in the show. PEGGY - YOU GO GIRL!

I love this show. Can hardly wait til next season. Will be a long winter
The bastards took AMC away from me! I already pay $100 a month and they want me to subscribe to ON DEMAND??????? Why couldn't they dump the Spanish channel or BET?
CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SUMMER 2008!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of promotional material for Mad Men, Rich Sommer, who plays Harry, just did an interview for www.televisionwithoutpity.com.
Enjoy!
I'm late finding out, but THANK GOD there will be a Season 2. Thanks for not insulting our intelligence with too many details. I love the subtlety. This is the best series I've seen in years. Keep up the excellent work.
I thoroughly enjoy Mad Men - but I have been away for awhile and am wondering if Season 1 will be repeated. I hope so as I think I have missed about the last 4 episodes.
I was hooked on "The Practice" with the original cast, but this is far and away the best show on television. Nothing comes close. Having been raised in Connecticut at that time, and having had a successful career in marketing, it is easy to appreciate the dedication that has gone into every episode. January Jones has stolen my heart! Jon Hamm is a class act, would be believable as the lead in a spy caper. Glad to hear about season 2, wish there were 26 episodes to a season!
I just wanted to say, when Pete ratted out Don to Cooper I just about had a coniption when Cooper looked at Don then looked back and Pete and said, "Who cares?" Oh my God! All this tension and worry and thats what happens? I laughed so hard I couldn't breath!
And on a personal note, I rather like lobsters. But Peggy's still no where near as hot as Joan. :D
About time we have a program that I look forward to watching. TV progams today are just plain garbage.Poor actors. Poor scripts value going down down down. Now they have a strike ha. Cheap acting less costs for these actors do they think people are stupid?? No wonder people are renting movies more and more nothing on TV to watch. We watch Turner Clasic Movies gone are the days of good stories, musical and plots and good actors What a joke are these new programs Companys are paying a lot for commercials and we don't even watch much TV anymore. Most of it is pure negitive Get with it TV stations I hope someone reads this and improves on programing. News station are plain negitive our country USA needs positive comments ever day.

Season 2 can't come out sooner! I can't believe it will take AMC that long to air Season 2! Mad Men is an adult's TV series. Love it!
I don't watch a lot of drama or comedy and zero reality TV. I was sad to see The Sopranos come to an end and then I discovered Mad Men. Truly outstanding. Mad Men is what's possible if you're not afraid of creativity and originality. Beautiful to look at as well !
Mad men is the best TV series I've ever seen. I was a big fan of the Sopranos and Deadwood, even liked Rome a bit, but I'm addicted to Mad Men. I'm hoping there is going to be more than just a second season, the halo effect for AMC from such a quality should be enough to keep producing it. I'm doing my part to support this show. Every time I talk TV with other people I enthusiastically recommend this show.
I can't wait till season 2!!! I love this show Mad Men is one of the most dymantic shows I've watched in a long time. I love Peggy!! Can't wait to see what happens with Peggy's baby. Don he's cool his cheating ways (well maybe they will catch up him.) My Congratulations and Fantastic Job well done to all the cast and crew. See you in season 2.
When & Where is the DVD?
I love this show! I am watching it off iTunes and Im addicted :)
I am so glad you renewed the show! I just want the second season to start sooner than summer!
Wow, this show is great and captivated me from the first time watching it - Very original. Unfortunately I did not see the entire season and would buy the DVD to catch-up. I have been telling all my friends and hope season 2 is a good as season 1. Cheers to AMC for continuing the saga.
The ABSOLUTE best TV show ever. I am not a television person at all - I AM HOOKED cannot wait until summer 2008!!!! I have seen each episode on FREE movies on demand multi times!
All of my girlfriends love it!
Camille
I was hooked from the first episode. What a well-written and filmed show. One of my fave episodes is when Betty gets out the rifle....need I say more - I hope we see more of that type of behaviour from her. Looks sweet, but is simmering below the surface. I am also ecstatic, as is everyone else, that there will be a season 2, however, disappointed that it won't be arriving until summer '08. Don is, as we say in the UK, cool as f***! My cable provider had all 13 episodes available to view on demand for free for a period of time, and I had more than one MM Marathon. Can't wait!

Yes! I loved season one...can't wait for 2.
The pigeons episode was unreal. Topped only by the very strange baby sitting interlude. Then, Betty and the washing machine. Betty Betty Betty.
This show was awesome i love the dominancy that the men bring to the office. Don and Roger are my favorite actors they are handsome and straight forward men something i look for.
I cant wait to see the second season i am anticipating on seeing all the trials and tribulations of the advertising in the 1960,s. Keep coming with those shows you will always have my support. Love you all.
Forget ratings AMC, this will become a classic and you'll make a killing down the road. Mad Men is better than Sopranos, it's perfect TV. Genius. HBO is now dross, TV shows that have characters but no drama, no real conflict. AMC, you don't know how lucky you are.
Best TV show in years. We regret that Season 2 won't be until summer 2008, but we'll wait!
AMC does not offer "Mad Men" season one on DVD which seems to be a shame as they could otherwise serve their existing audience for "Mad Men," and expand their numbers, while making money during the holiday gift giving season.
I am so glad "Mad Men" will have another season. It is the best show I've seen in a long time! Why is there so little hype about it?
Great Production.
I agree with previous commentor, the cinematography is excellent.
However, I am very disappointed to see that Comcast has stopped providing OnDemand for AMC (no longer available in TV Entertainment)?
Is this temporary or just in my area (Wash/Balt)?
Keep up the good work.
I am thrilled that "Mad Men" will be back next summer. This show is great! The writing is out of this world, and the actors and actresses are Super Great! It is the best show on T.V.
Of course "Mad Men" was renewed for next year. How could they have done otherwise? It was a no-brainer. Great, quality show!! I'm actually glad the show airs in the summer months because TV viewing is usually so dull during that time. It really gives you something to look forward to on television for the entire summer. One minor critique, though. I recall seeing Don Draper walk in his sock feet upstairs to check on his children in one episode. The socks he was wearing during that episode appeared to be somewhat thick for that time period. I was ten years old in 1960, and I recall seeing my father wear thinner socks. He never wore thick socks. Of course, we did not live in New York, so maybe that was a regional wardrobe difference. I'm almost embarrassed to bring this up because the show is just so great. Love those characters! Can't wait to see the writers gradually reveal what makes each character tick. Warts and all!
Amazing show; "Mad Man" is fantastic; the writing is outstanding.
Keep up the great work and I cannot wait until next season!
I love that Peggy is not a cliché - Moss does a great job.
I think the show is great it takes me back to an era i am familiar with. Keep up the good work. waiting for the new season and watching the old. I missed the beginning of the series. And was channel surfing when I happened upon this show.
EXCELLENT!!!! This is my new favorite show! I don't know how I'm going to last until Summer of 2008 without seeing more. Since it's been available on iTunes, I've checked every week and downloaded every episode as it became available. I'm hooked! Hope to see more references to Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
Is it possible for AMC to consider a second original series?
It could be called "Love Street," (also a Doors song title) set in the 1969-era when rock and the Woodstock generation "took over."
Haight Ashbury and beyond, a bi-coastal story of families who live through the tumult of "flower power" and the onset of generational change.
Local "underground" FM stations would by necessity be a featured element in the storyline. Perhaps a character becomes a disc-jockey?
What "Mad Men" is to 1960+, this second series would be to 1969 through the 70s.
Whaddya think?
Love love love the show. Can't wait for Season 2.
Great show, even though it brings back unpleasant memories of my early years as the sole women in a TV newsroom. PLEASE bring Peggy back...liberate her! She keeps the baby and brings it to work...especially when Pete's wife is visiting. In fact she names the baby Pete. Of course, the men will talk. Of course, they'll fire her. So she hires the newly out of law school Gloria Alred and sets the precedent for sex discrimination suits that protect those of us in Peggy's future. How about it writers?
Thanks AMC, Matthew Weiner, Jon Hamm and the other cast and crew of "Mad Men." I am so looking forward to Season 2. On 1/20/08 another run of Season 1 starts. I am thrilled. Missed part of 3 & 4 originally. Thanks Fano'Hamm
I'm delighted to see that the show is on for a second season. This is my favorite show but no one I know is watching it. Maybe this show isn't hitting the 30 something demographic. The writing is superb. The clothing, hair and makeup is so authentic. The details to the set design and all the little touches that take you there are surreal. Thank you AMC. This show is magical.
Thank you AMC for putting on such a quality show. I love the characters, scripts and the 1960s classic cool style. This is the only show I truly look forward to viewing. I will buy the DVDs once it's on sale. :-)
Wonderful show! It make you cry, laugh want to pull your hair out. It makes you question yourself and look back if that was you as a woman of the 2000 would you go for all that.... but can't wait for the new episode to air. Summer of 2008 is a long time but it's worth all the drama. :)
Keep up the great work.
Thank God!!
"Mad Men" is the most intelligent and well-written show on television today.
Well, I must say I'm speechless.
What can I say that hasn't been said.
BRAVO, EXCELLENT, AWESOME.
Can't wait for S2.
YES! YES! OH YES!!!! I just love this show-I've been watching since it started and now my husband is hooked! This show is great! The character Don Draper is very sexy and Betty is just beautiful. I can't wait! Thank you from Texas!
I'm so thrilled, and I'm so happy, this show has become an addiction for me, it's so fresh, I love the idea and everything is groomed immaculately, it's so elegant and beautiful can't can't can't wait for season two and hopefully many seasons after. congratulations to the cast and crew pure enjoyable entertainment I love u
WAY TO GO JON HAMM! you little golden globe winner you!
This is one of the only shows that my husband and I BOTH enjoy watching. The characters are so well developed and scripted. Hope the writer's strike ends soon...this group of writers have done an amazing job! Congrats on the Golden Globe win...well deserved!!!!!
I've heard of the "trekkie" conventions for those die-hard fans of Star Trek. Can't you just see all us MM'ers 20 years down the road getting together in some convention hall somewhere around the country wearing our '60's style clothes, some of us smoking our herb-flavored cigarettes, lined-up in front of Don and Betty and Pete (and Matt and all the others), waiting for autographs and sharing with everyone else in line just how moved we were when Don explained just what the carousel was all about. I'll be 90 years old and I'll be there. How about you?
I love everything about his show. Waiting for season 2. Myrna from Lebanon
Hi, Does anybody know if season one will be coming out on DVD? I no longer have cable so missed half the first season.
Thanks
I don't watch series on TV. I never have. Until now. This one captured my interest so quickly that I was hooked from the very get-go! I am a product of the 70's, so this is set before my time, but I am utterly fascinated by the characters, the history and the challenges that come from their circumstances -- brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
In the glamorous tradition of breakfast at tiffanys, this show displays the stylish 60s at its best. I love this show. Hope it will go on for many seasons.
One reason I am hooked on Mad Men is its commitment to the style and fashion. I was a little girl in this part of the 60s, and it like really stepping back into time. My parents and grandparents were refined middle and upper-middle class just as these characters are. Society really was like that . And yes, there really was that much smoking! One question, when will DVDs come out? I much prefer to iTunes purchase! I hope as you move into 1963 that you stay true to the fashion and culture. Can't wait!
For those of us with non funcitoning DVR's could they pleae run the series in order again...SOON!!!
I am thrilled to the gills about the 2nd season! I agree that there needs to be another broadcast of season one from start to finish. It will help get more viewership as I know that Mad Men still has not captured their full potential in this area. I am also hoping that they further illustrate what makes Don tick in Season 2. So many questions! His complete abandonment of his true identity and his family history needs to be explained. I really would like to see more addressing Don's (Dick Whitman's) relationship with his step-mother exposed. She clearly has left a major imprint on him that hasn't been fleshed out yet. For him to turn his back on his brother, more than once, there needs to be a deep well there somewhere, and I hope season 2 starts the digging. Shedding light on Whitman's relationship with his step-mother is the key to illuminating why Don Draper relates to women the way he does. Inquiring minds want to know!
Write to info@amc.com to request that Season 1 be released on DVD.
Thanks
@shuggles et al: The DVDs are coming, there's just no word yet on an exact date. As soon as I get a date, or even an approximation of one, I'll be sure to let you all know. Meantime, AMC is replaying the first season every Sunday night at 12 AM | 11 C.
Soooo glad Mad Men is renewed...one of the
best on tv. What a great cast too. ...and
stories. Love the authenticity also..
Hello there cool cats! As a friend at work described it, Mad Men is the "Mac Daddy" of shows!
Awaiting the 2nd season this Summer, anyone know of the actual air date?
Ring a Ding Ding!
@RatPacker--there has been no announcement as to the exact date this year (yet), but rest assured it's on the way. When we get a date, you'll be the first to know.
Thanks, Clayton!
siked about the sunday night/monday morning showings...missed the rest of the 1st season when i left for school... just wanted to say how much i love the show
There's no queston that Mad Men is great TV, and I'm glad that another season is on its way; we certainly would've been left hanging otherwise.
However, AMC's memory is a tad short: back in the days when it ran movies without interruption, i.e., when I watched the channel regularly, it produced its first scripted series, "Remember WENN," which had a great cast and was a show that my entire family enjoyed--one which might be considered for re-airing.
I'm a big fan of Mad Men. I wish they would put the reruns on demand again to catch up. That is too cool that Amc renewed Mad Men. I look forward to seeing the new episodes.
Wonderful news that Mad Men is getting a second season. Fantastic writing, acting, fashion and set design. Thank you!
I am soooooo happy Mad Men is being renewed! I think Jon Hamm is the sexiest man to hit a series in a very long time. Great cast, great writing!
Bravo Mad Men!!! Am particularly looking forward to this weeks episode- airing on Sunday, March 9th. I love the story line with Sal and Elliot. The actors Paul Keeley and Bryan Batt were amazing in that episode. I hope you decide to continue with that storyline next season!! The scene with them at dinner was so well acted. One of my favorites of last season.
My husband and I are so happy Mad Men is coming back this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please keep this show on FOREVER. The good ones usually get cancelled. AMC, don't make that mistake!!
Watch out HBO! Breaking Bad and Mad Men are destined classics. Thank you for these great stories.
I can't wait! I keep checking on a date for the second season to begin. Has anyone heard anything?
@madfan: There hasn't been an announcement yet, but we're hoping for one very soon. I'll keep you posted!
My wife and I love watching this show. We can't wait for the new season!
I am so anxious to see the new madmen season this summer. I want to buy the first season but cannot find it. Do anyone know when it is coming? Do anyone know what date the new season comes on? I can't wait i know its going to be juicy and interesting. Love all the cast forever!!!
When in doubt, ask yourself, "WWDDD?" This is one of my favorite shows of all time. It's like being in a drunken stupor.
Mad Man had me at the first advertisement I saw for the show. IT was the animation of
Don Draper falling outside of a tall building with music in the background. ITs on the beginning of each show. I knew at that time that I had to see this show, and was convinced that I would like alot.
I was right on........I hope M.M. has many, many more seasons of 22 weeks. I am so looking forward to season 2.................Peace and Happiness to all,
Loreen
I would love to see more Carol, and how her character comes to terms with her closeted life style: if she get to find another 1960's lesbain.
Love this show. I'm old enough to have experienced same situations.
Look forward to season 2.
When will AMC put it on DVD? ASAP!!!
Now in Sweden go the last episode of 1 seasons they give us double episodes and it was great love Pete so lot Vincent play him so well.
Thanks a lot for a lovely great show.
Be interesting to watch next season. :-))
Great Greetings
Annika in Sweden
All I can say is HURRAY!!!!!! I agree with Dave about there being a revolution. My husband and I found this late, but luckily had COX on demand and watched four shows in a row. We could NOT hardly stop from watching all of them at once. They need to be longer!!!! It is THE best show on television ever. The way they capture that period of time, reminds me so much of my father. He was not an ADD MAN, but the martini lunches, etc. is so perfect. And when the doctor came in to exam Peggy with a cigarette, so realistic! I don't remember a doctor with a cigarette in my lifetime, but this is just SO real it is UNreal! Keep it going, PLEASE!!!!! But I'm afraid it's going to be like American Dreams. That was a GREAT show, so much like that period of time too, and they took it off the air just like that. No ending to it at all. I LOVE this show. The way they make you think something's going to happen, like the very last one when he comes home and goes with his family on vacation ... but then it goes to real time and he comes home to an empty house. It's just great! Keep up the good work, and keep this show going for another 10 years at least!
I am so happy and cannot wait. I hope AMC is planning a marathon of shows.
I hate that it's on Sunday at 12AM, no DVR here and I have been missing it all winter.
She is definately giving up the kid in true old fashion soap opera. Hope the show lasts long enough for the kid to come back and unseat her once she breaks the glass ceiling.
So much potential in this show, ridding on the sociology of the times alone.
Has there been a date released on when Season II starts? I wish my father was alive to see this show. This was his era...he would have loved this show.
I was still grieving over the loss of The Sopranos. I always seem to have one show that is 'must-see' or before VOD and TIVO,
