About Jacob: "I'm a starving actor in LA. Seriously, I'm constantly hungry. After high school and college in NH, I left my family and friends and moved to LA. I love Mad Men and would be honored to be on the show!"

Wow, Nora. You seem to have some pent up anger in you. This is a good quality video and performance. Sorry that your career didn't work out the way you planned. Congrats to this and the other 18 finalists!
jake should win because his video is very creative. his performance is compelling and believable and the overall quality of the video is clearly better than the others. good luck man! i even changed my profile pic, look!
So big deal, you can walk around and play on your cell phone. You were another one whose votes mysteriously crept up from day one by the hundreds. I don't believe it and don't believe your acting. Not a win.
This guy is greaaaat!, funny, great performance. hope you win jake!
Very impressed. Naturally funny! Way to make this scene your own!
Nora = sour grapes.
ummm.... this guy Jacob is the bomb. Way to push those gender boundaries, my friend! and thank god someone took that whole picture quality thing seriously. It looks professional! And it's simple and clear. Awesome.
Wow Nora. It's called networking, see this younger generation of folks have friends who sit online all day on things like facebook, myspace, gchat, and from there it's a copy and paste message away saying "Hey go check out this awesome newcomer; vote for him if you think he's got talent." And from there... the votes increase...
Showbiz has always been talent + who you know [or in this case, how many people you know].
Nice performance from Jacob, but I want to know who the woman was playing opposite him! Without one word she stole the scene! If a man were reducing my worth to the cuts of my body parts, I would totally want to start eating! I loved her! Great writing! Well played.
Nice work! By far the best of the entries trying to be creative with their interpretations of the original scene...and a great piece of acting to boot! This should win hands down.
I love this guy! And, seriously, Nora, SOUR GRAPES! Maybe you should check out a thing called FACE BOOK. Either way, if you're in the contest, I'm not voting for you because you're too bitter. I like this guy, and I don't even know him.
All I can say is you lucky bastterd!!I'm happy for you also.I am also an upcoming actress. No one in my family is suppoting me for wanting it either.Thay all think I'm to fat and ugly for t.v..The main person that's bringing me down is my boyfriend.I thought your other half was suppose to support you in everything. No matter what the thay think. That's okay,The first thing I'm letting off my shoulder when I get there is him.See you on the big screen!!Also I would have posted for this contest if I had a web cam.I would have won too.
WOW this is really good. He is also very good looking- I think he would be great for the show. Very well done.
The girl steals the scene! Great work for no lines!
jake, this is very classy. and totally hot. you've come a long way since juggling scarves, making human pyramids, and walking tightropes.
This is great, wonderfully inventive twist on the character, interesting editing, acting that really snaps and in completely in tune with the show-- not easy to capture that era but you've done it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
If you want to play a challenging role play Jon Hamm or Pete, but Joan? Oh, I get it. If you play Joan, you'll get noticed, because your a guy playing a chick. Ingenious.
Each time I watch this clip it gets better, like a cult classic, Caddyshack or Ghostbusters. Brilliant timing and poise, great work... congrats for the finals
fantastic work just for a simple clip...cant wait to see what this kid can do with the big boys...bravo...lets put 'em in!
Love it! Great submission! She is hilarious, too.
I want to be your secretary...
jacob--great job! very impressed. to top it off, you have a great smile, even when you're acting like a jerk in this piece. Good luck! I hope you win!
I love this video. What convinced me was the way he smiles at the end and then looks down at her ankles or whatever. brilliant.
I go for quality acting. I am seismic if I detect self-consciousness. Jacob Crumbine feels like a total natural.
Jacob - you are on your way to stardom! This is a great video. Everything about it worked. Nice work! By far the best one I've viewed so far.
such a great video! i will totally start watching the show if you're on it! good luck
FYI, cowardly and shameful Nora Paradiso is now going by the name "justwondering" with a new photo.
Jacob,
Love the entry. Very creative with a nice funny "button." It's an honor to be a finalist with you.

This “contest” was like something Pete Campbell would have contrived, straight out of a Mad Men script. Its only purpose was to serve its host (AMC TV) at the expense of most of those involved. This was not a contest that was based on talent, creativity, originality or quality in any way. It was a shameless MARKETING CONTEST and should have been advertised as such.
The majority of the finalists in the “contest” are there for one reason only; they are networked to hundreds of people who cast votes for them based solely on relationship. It was obvious and everyone knows it. If these people had submitted videos of a dog taking a dump in the park, they still would have gotten their 400 to 1000 votes from their connections/networks.
A lot of the show’s fans and supporters who worked hard to produce quality submissions never stood a chance in this “contest”. I think I can see where the inspiration for the characters on the show comes from. Don Draper may not have slept with any of the “contest” entrants’ wives, but a lot of talented people got screwed. But congratulations AMC; you got your webpage hits. Mission accomplished. SHAME ON YOU!
OK - MaddestGirl - Isn't it a bit hypocritical to blame AMC for using this contest for publicity when you yourself are using the comments section to publish your opinions? Shame on YOU for blaming AMC for doing the same thing you are doing: capitalizing on a popular forum.
Huh, a TV show is trying to get more publicity. Go figure. Well, I've looked at Jacob's IMDB page and he's definitely not a hollywood 'insider' - Not YET anyway. This video is smart, it's funny and it highlights an up and coming actor who knows the show well.
As far as I'm concerned, Bravo Mr. Crumbine and bravo AMC.
I just watched the video again - it's hilarious!
MEMO to MATTHEW WEINER:
in order dispel the feeling held by some that this "contest was not based on talent, creativity, or originality or quality" and that the "only purpose was to serve AMC and to get webpage hits"--
I implore you to write a permanent role for Jacob Crumbine on the show. Create a series regular part for this talented, struggling actor! Think of the additional buz you could create by saying, "We found the new character for the show from the online contest!"
Really nice job jason and kudos to the girl in the scene with you. both of you play well together. maybe they'll pick both of you to be on the show. what you did was difficult and you made it look effortless. Congratulations. You are very talented and regardless of this contest, your career will shine. I am puzzled by all the off comments here and on some other entries. the contest is what it is and i think most people know that and have had a great time participating and supporting everyone's effort. Good luck!
Hey Jason, Nice work again.
Maddest Girl- I actually agree with you a lot about this website. First they wouldn't air my video, then they took off my comments. This is from a member who created a video FOR THIS SITE!

Hey Jacob, Nice work again.
Maddest Girl- I actually agree with you on some of your points about this website. They have given me the hardcore shaft for no reason. First they wouldn't air my video, then they took off my comments. Now they've blocked my account from making comments. This is from a member who created a video FOR THIS SITE!

wow he is really really good. good timing, good humor, very handsome.
Good job, Jacob! Good luck!
To girl who was the secretary.....you did a great job too!
Great job Jacob--you should be on the show--and the secretary as well. Hope you win!!
This guy is the tits. Besides hiring him for his obvious talent, if the suits want to increase female or gay viewership they'd better get this guy a permanent role.
Such a talent. I just started watching Mad Men. Fell in love with the show and now the thought that you could be one of those people. Wow. AMC will not only have created a great show but will have discovered the most promising new star. A REal STAR. I am gushing - I know - your performance just brought it out in me. I'm just Star dazzled. LOL
excellent work! certainly this actor jake has the 1950s-era look down pat. hope to see you on the show!
This young man remarkably captures the sleezy asshole-ness in odd combination with the sexy charm of a Mad Man. Kudos.
It's just a few seconds, but it looks like it has a lot of potential!
Great stuff. Jake looks exactly right and he's got the style down pat. I love the sleazy-sexy smile he gives her -- it blew me away.
Good stuff. My fave so far. What a charming asshole.
The lovable girl in the background stole the show. I vote for her!
ok how often do you get someone who is an ivy league graduate AND knows how to act AND looks good onscreen? not very often i don't think.
awesome job jacob. i wish you the best of luck!
I totally got an email telling me to vote for this crap. If you dont' want to starve anymore, take some acting classes dude. I did not enjoy watching this and did not enjoy you wasting my time. So I signed up just to spite you in a comment.
Next time make sure your product is valuable before you try and pawn it off on unsuspecting consumers.
ok, I kept my mouth shut throughout the entire contest, but now I am saying something. I do have to agree with what a lot of people are saying, this contest did sort of turn into a laughing matter. However, I am glad to see there are a few people in the top 18 that deserve to be. I'm glad the votes are no what really matters in this part of the competition- the professionals will pick someone who deserves to win. Jacob, you did a decent enough job (good job with the bagel, I like that) but sweetie I just wanted to let you know - almost every fast food chain has a dollar menu! :) Now go eat something :) Best of luck! -Ashley Carper
simply put: this is good acting. i'm a huge fan of the show, i've seen all the episodes, i've looked at all the entries and i can legit see this guy on the show - other entries are good, but jacob's is just a little better.
While the actor did a good job, he does not have the look or self confidence to be the person in power he is portraying. I would see him more as a weasley type assistant rather than the boss. Not sure I would choose him as a winner as he is not playing the character he choose to the best that character should be. Would rather see him in a different role.
I can totally see him on this show...great performance, and absolutely right type for that era.
Great performance, hope Jacob gets this!
TO THE JUDGES OF THIS CONTEST:
I am dissapointed, though not surprised, to learn that contestants like Jacob Crumbine are sending out spam emails to garner votes. I'm glad you are considering the votes as a last criteria, but I urge you to ignore them altogether.
You guys are smart enough to know that 1700 votes did not come from the AMC TV community (there probably aren't even that many AMC TV members!)
It's just not very sporting. Ignore the votes, please. There are several outstanding entries on here. Judge based on creativity and performance. My two cents.
Regardless of the number of votes, Jacob's entry is the most creative. and his performance is compelling. The overall quality of the finished product is simply better and more professional than the other entries.
I would also like to say that as a member of the AMC TV community I don't understand why people are getting so upset about someone getting a lot of votes. That's why AMC did this contest, to get everyone to email their friends, and for their friends to email their friends - all in the spirit of generating excitement about the show! So I say, the more votes the better! Getting people to visit the website is a good thing! The votes is only one criteria for this contest.
This is a very creative entry, well filmed, edited and above all it is entertaining, which really is the whole point. However, it would not have gotten very far if the acting and delivery didn't match the production value. Best of luck, Jacob - great job!
I think Jacob lacks a lot of credibility. First: I don't think you can really claim to be "a starving actor" that is "seriously always hungry" when you can clearly afford a nice suit, the latest high end phone, rent or own what is obviously a camera of substantial quality, and either a nice computer for video editing or money to pay for it to be professionally edited. Also, college in New Hampshire? I think given the info provided, and over-exaggerated claim of starvation and the effervescent hint of "douche-baggery" (and also first hand knowledge), it's a fair claim to assume Jacob is a graduate of Dartmouth. I don't think any Ivy-League grad can complain about being constantly hungry. Disregarding all of that, this is still not the best entry I've seen. The popularity of this video is obviously due to a mass e-mail of friends/acquaintances and those that they know. If I was a Dartmouth alum (wink), I would be ashamed of voting for this.
Nicely done man! You've mastered the art of the double take
Mad Men already has a character who is a sniveling prick, and that is pretty much the only role I could see Mr. Jacob "Crumb-Snatcher" playing on the show.
I thought this was really entertaining and well done. Good updated take on it. The mute secretary trailing along behind him was priceless. Good luck!
Best of luck, Jacob!
I just started watching this show and came across this contest when browsing the website. I like this video a lot. This actor Jacob looks like a MAD MEN actor. He's handsome and a good actor - he would fit right in!
The thing that most caught my eye about this video in contrast to the others is the tracking shot and editing. The way he moves through the lobby and the way the camera follows him is impressive. The cuts are timed perfectly to give the video a seamless look. He didn't just sit there and recite a monologue. It's creative and still makes sense to the nature of what is being said. And he is just a good actor. His timing is perfect with his pauses and his slight looks. The added pretzel bit at the end was a nice touch. I liked this video the best and I hope he wins!
This was extremely well done and the best presentation of the lines. Both Jacob's subtle facial expressions and the tone in his voice had me compelled throughout the scene. By far the best and most creative entry to-date!
I just wanted to say good job Jacob! It's been really fun watching you sore with this very entertaining entry. You got my vote long ago. Good luck!
Dear Mr. Crumbine,
You are indeed a difficult gentleman to catch up with! I commend you on your numerous votes. I certainly agree with you that a good secretary should know how to appropriately curb her appetite.
Dutifully Yours,
The Perfect Secretary
What a young, HANDSOME, up and coming actor! I hope to see him on the show! :)
If Mad Men is as funny as this video, maybe I'll start watching the actual show.
ok I take it back. I just watched and I like the way you have done this... but you know what? you don't need to pull at the heart strings with your "seriously I am really hungry bollocks", let your entry stand up on its own without trying to be pathetic and get sympathy yeah?
I just have to congratulate you on how you were able to get so many votes! You're a natural at it. Really great. Anyway, good luck.
I have to agree ,of course with the casting directors who said it was like Mad Men meets Entourage!
Sorry for my harsh critique at begining of finals. I was so upset I didn't make it to tell you the truth and I acted like an ass.
Yes, JACOB CRUMBINE! You're almost there. I've looked at the other videos and commentary and have to say yours is still the best. Good luck!
Come on! This was so boring and badly-acted!
Good Job Bro - your soon to be the new "it" guy - I can feel it!
Your acting transcended time. You took a scene that was played by a woman set in the 60s and made it timeless by playing it in the present time. You did an awesome job. I hope you get the gig and go on to be part of the show. Very subtle and ingenious!
I seriously have no clue how you didn't win this, Jacob!! Like honestly! I just sat here and watched every finalist entry and yours was BY FAR the best. Laaaaaaaaaaame!!
Original idea and really well acted.
Now who has a case of sour grapes?? Kudos to the creator and the producer of MM for their winning selection.
Note to Jacob: Nice camera work...good casting (your assistant).
Wel... I don't see why YOU'RE not working in your field, as good-looking as you are.
And... and please take this the right way... your character of Joan here, as a male, is sexist and schmuckky enough to be totally believeable. ANd that cell phone thing... UH-HUH... YEP... You've got it kid!! Call AMC RIGHT NOW!!
